My sister and I have just fallen in love with the new Scrapped Princess series. So we have decided to do some short FanDubs clips of the series, and maybe eventually a whole episode. (and in case you were wondering this anime is not yet licensed)

Basically I am just posting this right now to see if anyone is interested in being a voice actor/actress for it. We only need like 3 girls (sorry girls :( ) But we will need a ton of guys!!

If you are interested in this you need the following qualities:

A good microphone & recording software.

Patience - cause it is going to take a while

Promptness - getting your part done on time

Ability to put emotion into your voice

If you are really serious about this you should download the first episode of the series, so you can see what the story is about. The main role we need is Shannon since I am going to be Raquel and my sister is going to be Pacifica. Shannon will have the most lines and therefore the most responsibility, so we need a dedicated guy to play him.

So basically just post in this thread if you are interested and you meet all of the above qualities.

How do we do this?

Yeah, how are you going to organize it all (or lip-synch it)?

Humm... based on all of your comments I guess that first post wasn't very good.

First of all there are only a few people that will have big parts. Most of the characters will have 5 lines or less. So if you can fake a voice for 5 lines that works! ;)

Secondly, my sister and I don't do the lip synch-ing part. The person recording does their best to match it up. (key word "best" since although we want it to be good we aren't going for perfect here.)

If you want to learn more about how to actually record your voice here is a great site: http://www.voiceacting.co.uk/site/ although there is a little swearing on it. Look at the topics>tutorials section for info!

Once we figure out what scene we are doing first and how many people are interested, I will post some "sample lines" for you to record and then send to us for each character.

And finally I suggest you download the first episode to see the characters and to see if you even like it. And since if we pick you, you will need it anyway for lip synching... you can download it from a number of sources. Or if you want to wait till tomorrow I will put it up on my server for anyone to download and watch it.

I know my sister is really excited about this (and I am too actually) so I hope some of you are interested. :thumb:

EDIT: (I hate double posting ;) ) Ok the episode is now up on my space. http://www.myrrhlynn.us/daystar/downloads/scrappedprincess.zip but seeing as how it took me a half an hour to upload it, I recommend you try to use Bittorrent or something else to get it cause it will take a really long time to download without a fast connection.

Yay! People are interested that is great! For those of you who have downloaded the episode we are going to do a 3 minute clip: Starting right after the "commerical break." (The white screen with funky music). So we need 3 guys right away: a priest guy, Shannon, and Chris.

Although Chris's part doesn't require lip synching in this scene in the future it will. Shannon's part is small in this scene too but he will have a lot of lines in the future. And the priest guy is a one-time-character thing. If you do his lines you will never have to do him again, unless we decide to do the whole episode.

My sister is working on "try-out lines" basically lines we want you to read so we can decide if you voice it right for the part. I will post them soon. Oh and I will be making a webpage for this eventually. (Probably after we actually get this first scene done.)

Also let us know what format you want the audio in. (I assume either .wav or .mp3.)

Yeah one of those formats. Not sure which one though. We are going to try to get the software up and running this weekend, so we should have it figured out soon.

I tried out for the news reporter on the sailor moon S movie fandub a while back... Never got a response on it... I timed it perfectly, and everything! (iz sad)

Ahh that is mean that they never sent a response. They should at least have thanked you!

Oh and I should be posting "try out lines" really soon. I just hope my sister got the dub program working. O_O

What's the name of the program you're using? The only one that I know of is WordFit. I still don't have all that I would need if I am to dub.

Well the program to put it all together is Cakewalk. We are using that because there are tutorials online that explain how to use it. :)

Well ok here are the tryout lines finally! And my sister wrote them all by herself so don't yell at me if you think they are stupid. ;) Please send them to my e-mail (batgirlwi@yahoo.com) and don't worry about getting them in right away because my sister is still trying to figure out how Cakewalk works. It would be a good idea if you downloaded the first episode from me (see previous post where I list the link) so you can figure out what they are suppose to sound like since all the "random" lines are from the first episode. And as sorry as I am to say that this first dub at least will have the subtitles on it since I can't get ahold of the original raw Japanese version anywhere. :waah!: Ok, ok, the lines:

Hello everyone. This is Pegasus Rider, the voice of Pacifica Casull. My sister, Myrrh Lynn, is the voice of Pacific’s older adopted sister, Raquel. The following are the lines we would like you to say for us. For your convenience we have labeled every section after a character with a brief description of the character. For more information on Scrapped Princess please contact my sister, or myself. This is a warning though, Scrapped Princess does have some swearing parts, and some other profane parts which we are planning on taking out, also some of the Japanese couldn’t be translated into a proper response to some of the lines, so we will be re-wording Scrapped Princess as we go. Thank you VERY much for trying out and participating in this event, I appreciate it!

Shannon

Shannon Kassur is Raquel Kassur’s twin brother, and Pacifica’s adopted brother. Shannon, along with Raquel, has sworn to protect his baby sister, and is by her side every step of the way. He often fights and bickers a little with Pacifica, but it’s all just an act, he really does love her, and usually it’s Pacifica that starts the fights! He’s very nice, and he hates killing people. In the beginning of the series he becomes a D-Knight and is the temporary master of the dragoon Zephyrus. Shannon is rather sarcastic, protective, watchful, and untrusting. But he also has a funny sense of humor, he’s very nice, and he’s really a softy. To find out more about Shannon please download the first episode.

The Lines
All of these lines a mostly made up. Please try to see Scrapped Princess so you know how Shannon really sounds, it would help a LOT! Thank you!

“Hey, My name is Shannon and I’m the older brother of Pacifica, the Scrapped Princess. Pacifica is my baby sister, I’d do anything to save her, and protect her, even if it means going against the entire world. She and I often fight; usually Raquel breaks us up though. I usually get stuck doing most of the housework like cooking because Pacifica doesn’t know how and the last time I let Raquel dry the clothes they got torn up because she used too much magic to dry them. I’m skilled with a sword, my father was the master of a weapons shop, and he died protecting my precious little sister.
Speaking of my family let me tell you a little about Pacifica and Raquel. I always tell Raquel “Don’t use magic!â€

I'm curious about doing this. Scrapped Princess is one of my favorite shows right now. I have episodes 1 - 18 that I just finished watching. I may try out if it's okay.

Of course! Of course! Anyone is welcome to tryout! Right now the only parts we have are for guys. But we will need girls eventually too. :thumb:

>Send them in which format?

Opps. Forgot to say that! It should be in a .wav format please.

This sounds interesting. I used to do voices for puppets a while back. Let me download the file and I'll send you a sample. The evil priest voice sounds interesting...

Ug. FYI: If you are using OSX, this file has some bugs. You'll have to 'fix' the DivX errors, of course, but even after that you may have issues jumping to a certain point. I'm in the process of exporting it to a MOV, but it's taking around 5 hours. It will probably end up taking less time to burn this to a CD, and stick it in my windows box and listen to the tracks there.

Really? I haven't even tried to play it yet. What version of DivX do you have on the G5? I remember you had it, but I don't remember the revision.

I can't do it on the G5. Apple evidently hasn't figured out how to sync the default audio-in hardware to their recording libraries. NONE of my audio input/edit progs work on that machine.

MyrrhLynn, your sister is putting the audio together in Cakewalk? That's fun! I've tinkered with Cakewalk a little bit, but I prefer Cool Edit Pro. Probably because I've never done anything on a large scale like this in an audio editing program ...

Let me know if I can do anything to help! Out of curiosity (and hoping you didn't already cover this) but what are you planning on doing for sound effects and background music? Could that be effectively separated from the voice over in the originals that you have?

Heh heh.   Not so sure about that yet. We do have a CD of sound effects that a friend gave to me. And we are going to try to use as much of the original stuff as we can. But I don't know of any way to separate the voices from the music and background noise. Although there really isn't a lot of background music in this clip we are doing. (part of the reason we picked it) ]suppose[/I] to start mixing voice on, but... I don't think she has yet. The only reason we are using Cakewalk is because we found a really nice tutorial on how to use it to make a dub. But maybe you can help us mix some of the stuff together if you know how to use Cool Edit. Can you (for example) take a existing sound file and get rid of the background noise (like the sort of staticy noise)? (is Cool Edit even capable of that? o_O I don't really know the program that well)

Well, there are filters that you can run on it that will take out some of the static hiss or sounds that aren't "in focus" so to speak. My brother (Niko around here) can use Cool Edit Pro pretty good too. Maybe between the two of us, we can help you out.

Well all right! Rashir is going to be Shannon, and oldphilosopher is going to be the priest. We still need someone to do Chris's voice though. :thumb:

Right now I am trying hard not to get mad at the video editing program as I cut the clip up. We are also waiting for the Scrapped Princess soundtrack that I ordered to come, which could be a few weeks. In the meantime if you two want to practice lip synching that would be fine. I'll let you know when we have everything ready and we want you to send in your lip synched lines.

Well we are almost done with the dub clip. :thumb: We are just waiting on two people to hurry up and get us the last of there lines in. Humm... I wonder who those people could be? *glares at Rashir and oldphilosopher* :shady:

Anyway we are planning our next clip and we are going to need girls this time, four of them to be exact. I'm going to make a clip of the part we are going to do so you can see what it is and what the characters are like. That should be up by next week. Basically this post is simply to check and see if any of the girls here are interested.
