Has anyone heard about this yet? They're going to be showing the old eps. of DBZ uncut on Cartoon Network Tuesdays at 10:30. I don't know why, but I found this...very funny, somehow...
No idea why...Anyways, who's gonna watch?

I probably won't watch it alot...but..UNCUT?! Doesn't that version have like, Cuss words? How are they gonna do that?

I don't know! I think it's mostly blood, but I'm sure there's a lot of cussing in it, too...I'm mostly surprised that they're showing it on CN, and not [adult swim]. It would just make more sense, y'know? *is weirded out by this* O.o

haha..funny...what is CN trying to do? haha...
Still though, when they say uncut, do they MEAN uncut, or Slightly uncut...because Uncut means BLOOD AND CUSSWORDS!! and The D-word is STILL a cuss word...
*imagined scene*
Parents flame CN for Blatent disregard for Family Values by allowing D-Slams on Cartoon, DBZ)

It will probably be slightly edited. Even Adult Swim slightly edits the anime they show, not to the same extent that Toonami does though.

Sounds like a waste of time.

Dragonball Z has more than just blood cut out... They also cut out naked-man-butt galore... Maybe a bit of female nudity (the first Bulma ep of the original DB had her naked fora few seconds) Yeah, and there isn't much cussing in the uncut dub, but there is a bit. I saw an episode where Piccolo says "S***!" once That's about it... But, yeah, naked man butt... A lot of it... And, any episode where there are little little kids like the 3 year old Gohan, frontal nudity too... Early on in DB and in DBZ, Goku, Krillin, and later Gohan ended up naked a lot, for some reason...
And, there is a LOT of blood in a few eps of DBZ... I used to watch it on International channel (I'd watch anything that was Japanese at the time, even though I had no way of following the story, since most of it was revealed in dialogue...)

I wanna see it, if only to see how they pull it off. This is gonna be insane. Google "Dragonball Z Uncensored" and take a look through the site.

Uncut or not, FUNImation totally rewrote the script, so don't expect to hear them speaking what would be in the subtitles. FUNi went back and re-dubbed it with the current cast.
Originally, the show had to be bloodless, and a bunch of eps were cut out. These days, blood is fine as long as it is not flowing. Expect them to be caked in blood and a few new episodes, nothing more.

o.o;; There weren't any F-bombs in DBZ. Uncut or no.

Some of the movies had them. Regardless, even the subtitles on the DVDs may not be 100% accurate.

As I cannot call myself an expert any more, I will trust the word of my overlord and not the word of Gen Fukunaka.

I think it was ANIME MAN that explained this in another thread, but I'll restate it here.
Uncut simply means that none of the original footage has been removed. Note that they are saying the episodes are uncut...NOT unedited. They can still edit language and dialogue and have it be "uncut." So there may be blood and nudity, but they can still remove the cursing if they see fit.

Yeah... Subs that have them aren't because the "F-bomb" is an english langauge invention, there is nothing even remotely similar to that in Japanese... The only actual vulgar words in Japanese are sexual words, and those aren't used as expletives... Funimation didn't put "F-bombs" in any of the uncut dubs I'd seen... The only time I ever saw "F-bombs" was in FANSUBS that felt the need to make it as "adult" as possible... Yeah...
Generally, the only expletives in Japanese are Kuso and shimatta, and they are most like "Crap" and "d***" in American English (I know that "crap" has harsher connotations in other forms of engish than american, and I heard even that s*** doesn't have the vulgar punch behind it in most english speaking countries, but I could be wrong about that one...) Any expletives you see in subtitles or hear in dubs other than that are embellishments...

It would have been unheard of for them to do this a few years ago.
But it appears that they are loosening up a bit...
Profanity is a translation issue. "Uncut" doesn't necessarily mean something will be filled with cursing.

Wrong. You are referring to bad fansubs. The actual Japanese language dialogue (without the subtitles) is very clean.

Good grief! Funanimation edited out tears in one episode and made one character's beer a strange blue colour!!

Actually, the first set wasn't funi... Yeah, they won't edit tears... They're not THAT bad...

But why would they edit tears?!! That's what I want to know.

I'm not too worried about excessive violence or cussing; DBZ can't get much more violent and it's only minor swearing. But how on earth are they going to handle the nudity?

What I wonder is why everyone seems to want to see it with the originial blood, cursing, and nudity...

I dun wanna...but the commercial said (paraphrased) UNCUT DBZ, the way you never seen it before, the way you never heard it before...
Maybe they will blur the nudity? I dunno..I am scared... lol

One good thing is the voice acting will be more consistent now. They went back and
redid the earlier eps. with the more familiar voices from the FunImation dub(from
what I read in Anime Insider another company did the earlier eps.so the voices in
the dub were inconsistent with what came later in the series). Also these are the
same actors from Dragonball GT.So when you hear younger Gohan or Goten talk
in the Uncut version they sound like young Goku from GT.
Also according to AI Launch is back in the uncut version.
Btw:I did see it on Tuesday but unfortunately fell asleep part way through.

I've been watching for nostalgia's sake, and I really haven't seen anything remotely offensive yet...There was a tiny bit of blood from Krillin's nose, I think...O.o Anyways, I'll probably continue watching it, since I havn't seen it in years...Brings back good memories! XD Besides, being an avid fan of RK, I know that blood won't phase me...XD Don't wanna see any nudity, though...XP But I'm excited about seeing Freeza again...Those were good times...^_^

Eh. I'm not a big fan of DBZ, but I'm glad we're getting the uncut version. A step in the right direction.
