I think that just means remade scenes, not new scenes. I know, bummer.
I was really excited when I first saw this, but it just looks like there's nothing new. I want a prequel dangit!

Yeah I heard about this. I think it was supposed to be remastered, but maybe they decided to follow after that Eva Platinum and redo some stuff.
I already bought the series years ago when it first came out, so I think I'll pass. I personally thought the movie was just a shell of the original series so I wouldn't want them to do new stuff-- I fear it would remove the soul from the series.

Most of what I have read about it involves some new commentaries and other extras that the origianals didn't have. Not sure yet if I want to buy the series all over again.

Yeah, now that you mention it, this is what I heard (plus the remastered sound)-- so I won't reacquire it. What's the point? I don't use the extras anyway.

Hmm... put it on anime must see to do list. @Michael, I don't know if I really want to see a prequel to the series. The series started and ended well. Now if they made a new Cowboy Bebop with new characters (kinda like Onegai series) that would be instresting.

I think a prequel would be good. However, I would rather there not be any sequels. Cowboy Bebop was a masterpiece. It might be best for it to remain untouched as it is.

Yeah, Bebop itself was one of the best Animes ever. If they created a Sequal to it, they'd ruin it forever. However, if they created a Prequal, now that would be interesting.

I would prefer they not touch it at all. How could making a prequel not be any better or worse than making a sequel? That mentality makes no sense to me whatosever.

Probably because it would be interesting to see Jet as a cop, and Spike doing his thing with the Red Dragons.
A sequel would not be very good because
Spike is dead.
Anime Insider's April/May issue had an entire article on the new Remix.
They even asked the Creators of CB if Spike was dead but got a rather
noncommital response.Basically it's left to the viewer's imagination wheter or not he's dead.(Kinda like the ending of Blakes7 when the screen goes
blank and all you hear is the shots and don't know wheter or not Avon is
dead...Hey!Maybe Spike and Avon are related!
)

If they made a prequel movie, it might turn out OK. Something to do with Spike's life in the Red Dragon syndicate and Jet's life on the police force.
Even if it was just as good as Knockin' on Heaven's Door I'd be happy.

There is a lot of unknown existing background history in the show that has potential to make a really good story....
Example: Samurai X. Based on Kenshin's tragic past, which the TV series focused very little on, but often refrenced. Also a masterpiece of anime.
A prequel about Spike's own tragic past could also have potential for great storytelling. However, a sequel wouldn't work nearly as well, because as already mentioned,
Spike is dead
and
ressurecting him
would be an annoying gimmick and ruin the overall impact of the show's ending.
That's my mentality.

Spoiler tags?
If they changed things so he survived and made a sequel, I would refuse to buy it. He lost the only person who meant anything to him. Once he got revenge, he had nothing to live for. To say he survived would ruin the powerful impact of the ending.
From my perspective, KHD was soulless compared to the TV series-- after the hiatus, they seemed to have forgotten what made Bebop good. So I'd expect any prequel to be disappointing
Slightly OT, did anyone else besides me think that the R rating for the movie was too strict?

It was obviously just to keep the kiddies away.

I think they made the ending as vague as possible so that if there were
a sequel they could bring Spike back.
As a previous mentioned Blakes7 has the same sort of vague ending since
the screen goes blank before the final shots are fired so you don't know if
it were the Federation Guards doing the shooting or Avon.

I Didn't think the ending was very vague when they show him all shot up, with blood streaming down his face, then he keels over.
Watanabe already said guys that he won't make a sequel no matter what. And since Bebop has such a huge and rabid fanbase here and in Japan it's going to stay like it is. The Session 0 stuff you've been hearing about is not a prequel it's just a bunch of interviews.
All six Cowboy Bebop DVDs will be rereleased under a REMIX title heading this summer.
"REMIX will feature a completely remixed and remastered Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS surround sound and remastered video under the direction/supervision of Shinichiro Watanabe. REMIX will include new extras such as interviews with the US voice actors and actresses, collections of trailers, promos, the Session 0 extras (Japanese Interviews witht he staff and cast, story digest of the second half of the series, Tank music videos) and more."
So really it's just redone sound in 5.1 DD and DTS, some interviews, commentaries, and music videos. Pretty skimpy really. I was hoping they would just put it out at once in a boxset, oh well. If you don't already own it then it's a good buy but otherwise I'd pass this one up.
Though I have never seen Cowboy Bebop, I am of course well aware Spike dies in the end, and I personally would hate to see a cliched resurrection thing. Or worse, a Monty Python moment. "He's not quite dead! He's getting better!"
I see Spike's death like Aeris's death in FFVII. Tragic, but necessary. If they remade FFVII and put in an option to resurrect Aeris, I feel it would ruin the game. If they made a sequel to Cowboy Bebop and made Spike alive again, I feel it would ruin the series...which I guess I should probably watch at some point in time, huh? XD
Please use spoiler tags. It's highly annoying to others who may have not seen the series and do not wish to know about such an important plot point in advance.

That's true and all but honestly it's kind like me telling you Vader is Luke's father. If you don't know by know you probably won't ever care.

It mattered a great deal in 1980. (And if someone hadn't seen it before, I'd let him be suprised)
It's simply good manners unless the thread is marked as having spoilers

I'm thinking of purchasing it when it comes out. I already have the series, but it's a bootleg of low quality (are they ever any other kind of quality?) and I'm desperate to get rid of it. But if I get rid of it now, I won't have any Bebop! Poor me!

I have a couple DVDs, but I've been lacking the complete Bebop experience after my brother taped over the episodes I taped off of Cartoon Network.
So I'll probably have my eye on the boxed set of this...

Yeah same here. Bebop was the first anime series I bought...and of course I fell in the trap of the ebay bootlegs. I thought Remix was going to be released together in a boxset from the get go. And that's what I was waiting for to get rid of my bootleg copy. So I've decided to just get the old series DVD's. I mean I don't see much of a difference honestly between this and those. In fact 5 minutes left on Session 1, off of Ebay mind you but it's legit, for $5.00.

I saw something on a Magazine imported from the US (it was like 22 bucks so I didn't buy it) but Im glad to find out what it was about.
Sequels should not be allowed for Bebop. But as previsouly stated it would be nice to see Spike and Jet get together, or the fallout between him and Vicious over Julia, that would be cool.
Mind you I havn't been able to see the entire sessions, missed about 10 somewhere in the middle :S Got to see them.
