Studio Ghibli Fan Club

I am a big Studio Ghibli fan, and I thought "if CLAMP has a fan club thread here, why not Ghibli?" Discuss Ghibli stuff here. Current Ghibli productions include (titles released in America are in bold):
-Kaze no Tani no Naushika (Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind) (1984)
-Tenkku no Shiro Rapyuta (Laputa: Castle in the Sky) (1986)
-Tonari no Totoro (My Neighbor Totoro) (1988) (I don't count the Fox release as it is dub only and Disney will release it appropriately in the near future)
-Hotaru no Haka (Grave of the Fireflies) (1988)
-Majo no Takkyuubin (Kiki's Delivery Service) (1989)
-Omohide Poro Poro (Only Yesterday) (1991)
-Kurenai no Buta (Porco Rosso) (1992)
-Sora Iro no Tane (The Sky-Colored Seed) (1992) (short TV spot)
-Nandarou (What Is It?) (1992) (short TV spot)
-Umi ga Kikoeru (Ocean Waves) (1993)
-Heisei Tanuki Gassen Ponpoko (Pom Poko) (1994)
-Mimi wo Sumaseba (Whisper of the Heart) (1995)
-On Your Mark (1995) (short music film)
-Mononoke Hime (Princess Mononoke) (1997)
-Houhokekyo Tonari no Yamada-kun (My Neighbors the Yamadas) (1999)
-Giburiizu (Ghiblies) (2000) (short film)
-Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi (Spirited Away) (2001)
-Umacha (Delicious Tea) (2001) (short TV spot)
-Neko no Ongaeshi (The Cat Returns) (2002)
-Giburiizu 2 (Ghiblies 2) (2002) (short film)
-Kujiratori (The Whale Hunt) (2002)
-Koro no Daisanpo (Koro's Big Day Out) (2003)
-Mei to Konekobasu (Mei and the Kitten Bus) (2003)
-Hauru no Ugoku Shiro (Howl's Moving Castle) (2004)

What Ghibli films have you all seen? I've seen Grave and everything Miyazaki, including the TV spots and his pre-Ghibli film Rupan Sansei: Cagliostro no Shiro (Lupin the 3rd: The Castle of Cagliostro), and even the upcoming Howl's Moving Castle.
Who else is really looking forward to Howl's theatrical release here? I know I can't wait. I'm also eagerly awaiting the release of Pom Poko and My Neighbors the Yamadas on DVD on August 16.

What an ironic sentence! I guess Disney is most effective at preserving films when its under contract to do so. I was lucky enough to watch it in Japanese with Sensei translating though.

Oh, and I've seen Spirited Away, Castle in the Sky, My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke (heh, reminds me of Theology Web's Mononoke AI - kawai des ne?), and Grave of the Fireflies (which killed my joy before the summer a while ago thanks to Sensei showing it on the last day), and if you count it, Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence

Castle in the Sky rocks!! It's probably my favorite Studio Ghibli flim (next to Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away).

I'm a huge fan of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind and Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli in general. I'm looking forward to Howl's Moving Castle, too.

I've seen everything that's domestically released except the Cat's Return and Porco Rosso. Rock on Ghibli!

I love Studio Ghibli works! I've seen most of the ones released in English (Laputa, Kiki's Delivery Service, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Spirited Away, Princess Monanoke, and The Cat Returns). I'd have to say Spirited away and The Cat Returns are my two favorites, though. I can't wait for Howl's Moving Castle to come out!

Yeah, and praise God, for me I got to see it fansubbed on my computer (downloaded it). Once Disney releases it, I'll buy it immediately.

Sure did. I hear some are displeased with how parts of the book are left out or changed, so if you've read the book you may not enjoy the movie as much, but I think Miyazaki makes the story his own as is and it is yet another masterpiece.

I'm excited about Howl's, but it's only being released in "select cities" which pretty much means nowhere around here. Unless I get together a road trip to Chicago, I'm not likelt to see it until it comes out on DVD.

Please, please tell me about the Cat Returns. I went to buy it and the retailer pulled it off the shelves because it was "not profitable". -_-;

It's good.

It has a high-school girl, cats, and The Baron. And.. the Baron is cool.
Stuff happens. Buy it.

Neko no Ongaeshi (The Cat Returns) is more than worth owning. It's good, light-hearted fun. No objectional content either. I highly recommend it!
So, who has seen Howl? I haven't seen it in theaters yet since after vacation money has been short, but I definitely plan to see it ASAP.

Ha! That's the best review I've read in a while. And the first favorable review I remember seeing from Impact that wasn't about Giant Robo.

LOL
The Cat Returns is about a girl who saves this cat and it turns out he is the prince of the cats or something and his dad says she can marry the prince! Very interesting.....
