(before I begin.. sorry admin and mods..if you don't want me to start an FMA thread.. then please tell me..but this is about one episode in particular..
for the rest of youse.. THIS MAY CONTAIN MAJOR SPOILERS IF YOU DON'T WATCH THIS SHOW ON ADULT SWIM!! YE HAVE BEEN WARNED!!)
Did anyone watch this episode..I did...it brought me to tears!! I am serious.. i started bawling! and i watched it with a friend today for the 3rd time..(recorded) and man.. I cried again...am i the only one who cried?

No, you are not the only one. I cried when I read it in the manga via scanlation, and I cried all through the last part of the episode, from the beginning of the fight until the end of the credits. And I don't cry. I didn't even sniffle watching the twenty-third episode of Trigun, "Paradise", and if you know me, that's amazing.
EDIT: As you can see, I'm commemorating (sp?) this episode today, and perhaps again on the original airdate, which can be seen in my "Location" slot.

Yeah that was so unexpected.
I kept hoping at the end that they were going to have some sort of
Deus Ex Machina and everything would be alright. But they didn't.
That's one reason why anime is so great to watch,it doesn't ever pull
punches.
Btw:Did you stay up to watch GITS:SAC as well. That ending was just as
emotional. However I have a hunch the Major may have actually outsmarted everyone.

Both made me go balistic. I watch FMA alot and I was past saddened when Lt.Col Mae Hughes died! I couldn't believe it, I still can't believe it even a day later!
I'm a huge fan of GITS, the latest Episode definitly made me go sour. I couldn't believe that the tachicomas died to save Batou. And when the Major got shot, now that's when I could have gone teary eyed. But then I thought, the Major would definitly trick them all, after all she survived what happened in Movie one and helped Batou in Movie 2.

I've said before how unexpected his death was when I first read the manga, owing to the fact I couldn't have seen it coming from a mile off.
About GITS:SAC, definately. The Major is somewhere laughing at her enemies. Did anyone notice Batou putting a hand on her side when they were walking? <3 <3

I was like.. NO WAY! HUGHES CAN"T DIE!! NOOOO!
He died so well though.. I loved all the foreshadowing in that epi..I mean the gun in the backround in the first flashback.. then when Huges touched Envy's sketch...AHHHHH! this was like my favorite episdode!! i hate that he died..but he died so well!! (I hate the stupid humungluai!!)
Lust disturbs be.. that was.. odd..
about GITS: SAC... I don't think that was the major.. I mean.. did anyone notice that she didn't have the watch on? that was her left hand that we saw..
Of course.. who knows..maybe she did..
I watched it when it came back on the second time.. and..i gotta tell ya.. It was hard not to laugh.. sorry..but when she got shot and she flipped over like that.. It was kinda funny.. I mean i cried the first time..but the second time i was like..."woah..she did a nicsche little flip there!! HAHA!" Of course i am still saying that it was a fakey..but that is just me..I bet that she didn't die..

oh, yeah, that ep where
Hughes is killed
. I don't know how far America is on that show because I don't like what I heard of the dub (though I only heard a couple seconds of it
). Hughes was awesome, that was a pretty sad episode, that's where I found myself with a vendetta against Envy, I couldn't wait for that pest to bite it (for those who didn't see the whole series yet, I am not implying he did or didn't die, simply that I wanted him to die). I personally downloaded all of the eps onto my computer and saw the show that way, I really enjoyed it, but the finale ep was almost a let down.
I really wish they had kept Hughes alive, but I guess it really did bring in some drama.

Me too. But be careful. You don't want to spoil people with your custom user title.

lol, Hughes was funny, especially about how proud he was about his daughter. It was somewhat funny how the Major ( or the remote controlled Major) got shot.

Sad...hahahaha!
::Goes back to Giant Robo::
Nothing in any anime could be a sad as the stuff that goes down in GR, fools.

I think the impact of Hughes getting killed in Full Mental Alchemist was greater because he was such a loveable character.Nobody saw his death coming. If it had been Scar it would have made some sense.
As far as Motoko in GITS:SAC,well she did use that remote puppet to contact
Batou with and it is also concievable that she used another remote puppet to make
it look like she was boarding the plane.
I guess we'll have to wait for next season to really find out.But I can't believe the
army intelligence could have really outfooled her.

ANother Character dies!? NOOOOOOOO! gAH! I can't take this! I loved Hughes!! he was soo funny!! I feel sorry for his family!
Isn't there another episode left M_L? Of GITS? I think this saturday is the last episode night... Because that was only epi 25..and I think there are 26..the next one is called Stand Alone Complex.. the epi title. i mean..

If she did, though, that was terribly cruel to poor Batou, not even telling him. Because, unless Batou is a terrific actor, he was genuinely upset.

Well they are agents! I am sure that he is in on it!!
but i could be wrong.. but it just seemed odd that She put that watch on.. and since it was such an important item..she woulda left it on!

I still can't believe that Hughes died. He was an amazing character-- funny, honest, and full of life.
I was especially moved by Roy's single tear-- they had a very deep friendship.

Well said, Mitsuki Lover, Christian Ronin and Lady Arianrod. Hmm, Lady Arien Rod, that sounds close to Lady Arien, but no saggar, oh well. Poor Hughes family, definitly the little girl!

What i thought was interesting..was when Roy was like, "I think it is going to rain today.." and then the scene changes to him crying.. That was a great use of Symbolism!! IMHO!
Also...I loved the forshadowing in the episode!! I really did! The gun in the backround.. and the pic of Envy..very very well done!

Having finally seen this... I'm disappointed. I knew what would happen from the manga, and I'd heard that the anime version was very emotional. However, I wasn't even slightly moved, and I like Hughes.
The Sloth detail was interesting... that's very different from the Sloth in the manga, as far as I know.

My friend nearly cried when Hughes died. I was rather upset myself but more prepared. Remember, if you mention your family repeatedly you're going to die. Cardinal rule of cop movies etc. Btw, what's GITS? I've never heard of it before.

GITS = Ghost in the Shell
I remember watching the FMA fansubs and it was time for Hughes to die. I didn't see it coming until moments before he dies, at which point I felt something like 'oh my goodness, he's going to die isn't he?'
