Where to buy music

My sister wants to buy the score CD to Laputa: Castle in the Sky. Is this authentic or a bootleg? Is this store reliable? And is that the Laputa CD to go for or is there are better one?
And on my part, I really want the soundtrack for Pocket Monsters: Mewtwo Strikes Back, but is there a cheaper place to get it from than CDJapan that isn't a bootleg store?

The frist one, since the price is $12.90. Then that has to be a bootleg.

But do you have any proof of that besides the price?

Not really. But I know this from going to anime cons. If you see a music CD that has never been relase here in the states, then you not going get it for $13.00.

The only OFFICAL US released cd would be affiliated with Disney because they own the US rights to Laputa. If Disney isn't releasing a soundtrack, which wouldn't surprise me at all, then you'll just have to buy the japanese one. I'll go see if I can dig anything up.

You can try http://www.animenation.com or try to find the site of a Japanese bookstore (too lazy to find the URLs, but try googling Kinokuniya Bookstore and Sasuga Bookstore). Remember though, if the soundtrack is imported, chances are it's going to be pretty pricey. =/ Unfortunately Sasuga's shipping is a bit slow. I'd comment on CDJapan, because it looks like they have a very good selection, but the one time I tried to order from them, my CD got backordered indefinitely, so I just cancelled the order. *sobs: Wants her Heimdall and Freyr CD*

That's odd. I got my FLCL soundtrack from them, and everything went fine. They've got a nice selection, I suppose.

I can't prove, but I'd be very wary for a couple reasons:

1) The price. Import CDs are MUCH more expensive as a general rule. A legit CD for 2 tracks gouged me a good $18+ - much more expensive than the $12.90 price you see on toysnjoys and japanimation. When something's too good to be true, it usually is.

2) The lack of information provided. Most legit places, like Animenation.com and cdjapan give you information on track listings, the release date, the publisher of the CD, etc. The two websites you mentioned only provide the image of the CDs front cover, and occassionally the track listing.

So, is there any US/EU stores with legal CD's? To order all the way from Japan is something I would avoid if it's possible, and really wanna BUY the real .hack// soundtracks. Hate having bootlegs or downloaded stuff, and not the original one :\

I know for sure they've released the .hack//SIGN and .hack//DUSK soundtracks here in the US, so they're 100% legal. I don't know of a site that'll ship to Europe off the top of my head, but it's always worth looking around. Check a site like Suncoast (where I got my .hack//DUSK soundtrack. they have a fairly good selection) and check out the shipping details, maybe. ^^

EDIT: Curse you, Jeikobu! Thanks to you I went browsing cdjapan and blew the last of my Christmas money on the Tactics soundtrack! XD;

Can't comment on their CD selection but everything else they have is legit.

ok, in short, do you guys think I should go for the ToysNJoys InuYasha CDs, because the track # is right, the cover, names, everything they give, seems accurate, or should I find someplace else?

Don't settle on one site do a thorough search. I never buy anything on the internet unless I check at least 5-10 other sites for the same item and compare.

Froogle it.

It can be a bit hard to tell, especially online, what is a bootleg though. I mean a low price (like at Toys N' Joys/Japanimation) does seem to suggest that they are bootlegs, but you never know, it could just be a very good price. I want to be sure.

Your never going to get a good price on music cds that have to be ship from overseas!

As for the cover and such. That is another problem, some bootlegs will copy the same cover that the real music cd has. Just about 90% of them will make the same cover as what the real cd has.

I did find something out. Most of Japanimation import dvd's are bootlegs.

Darn it, then I guess Toys N' Joys and Japanimation aren't that safe, at least for import DVDs and CDs... :S

EDIT: Which Laputa CD is the score to the movie? http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/search.html?ty ... ord=Laputa I tend to think it'd be the one that says Soundtrack but I want to be sure.

Doesn't anyone know any safe sites? What about cdjapan.co.jp? And shipping from Japan, is it expensive?

Kokoro Daisuke had the link to Animenation and I think is one of the best US sites to get anime music cds from.

AnimeNation

Here is the link again for you. I link it to just music cd link.

I haven't use cdjapan.co.jp, but from what I hear it is a good safe site to order cd's from.

Shipping from Japan is rather expensive (I think the shipping for my Tactics soundtrack came out to $12 US dollars) and the import goods are expensive, too. But if you're scared stiff of accidentally buying bootlegs, then cdjapan is good to go with. Like Wingzero mentioned, Animenation is an excellent choice as well.
