Hey Guys, here's another Ghost In A Shell Question.

Last Night, Ghost In A Shell finally arrived at my house. I watched it, it was totally awesome. The Movie takes place in 2029, while the series takes place 6 years later. Anyways the ending left a pretty good question.. What happens in Movie 2 and does the Major get a new body, as seen in the series? In anyevent, I'll wait for a month to get the next movie or so...

Just to clear things up:
The movie and the series are related by characters only. In other words the series assumes the movie did not happen. Its a diffrent take on Ghost in the Shell. Kinda like the diffrence between G Gundam and Gundam Wing. There both Gundam but they are individual universes. That said, I haven't seen number 2 yet

Ghost in the Shell Movie and Ghost in the Shell 2 Innocence is connect in the Puppetmaster event as for the Innocence it is after the puppetmast event as for Stand Alone Complex it was a different universe. So the movies and the series has no connection with one another just in name an few characters.

I RAREly fall asleep on movies, therefor I have labeled GITS:2 "boring" and refuse to watch it ever again. The music was annoying in some spots.

I never got to the ending, but I'm guessing the main character gets damaged? I think he'd get a new body, if the series and this movie WERE connected then i'd guess he'd get a new bod, so he can return to the series.

You missed all the stunning animation and action! What do U mean you won't watch it again?!! You would NOT say it's boring if U actually saw the whole thing. This kind of movie, you cannot judge without seeing its entirety.

well I suppose that answers my question, thanks guys. By the way, Movie 1 is referenced in Episodes 1 and 2 of the series, but since the events happen in an alternate reality, I guess soemthing changed and thus all the possibilities and connections, too crazy for even me to comprehend...

Only the two movies are connected. As for the second film itself, it really depends on the kind of movies you like. Aside from it's excellent production value, it's a very weighty philsophical film- the sort you'd probably want to watch twice just to figure it all out. Basically, most of the thinking revolves around the nature of the mind and the spirit as well as concious existence. This isn't really too surprising in a world of artficial intelligence and transferable minds! I found it a fascinating film, although frequently a little annoying. Too much quoting of philosophers and too little actual exposition on what they're actually trying to say.
