First ever, not counting Speed Racer was Captain Harlock and the Queen of 1000 years on TV. First uncut anime I ever saw was Gunbuster. Long long time ago...

Although I didn't realize it at the time, my first anime was Astro Boy. Back in 1967. I just thought it was another cartoon.
My anime renaissance started in 2000 with Fushigi Yugi.

Sad to say, Ronin Warriors. Looking back it was the cheesiest of cheeseball shows, with corny lines and bad animation. Totally 80s. But this was when Toonami was just getting started. I had seen an episode or two of DBZ or Sailor Moon, but this ws the first series I really cared about. When Toonami aired Gundam Wing in its place in oh, 96 or so, then I was really hooked.

Add four more years to that.
For me it was Speedracer late night on Cartoon Network. But the first anime I really got into was Robotech syndicated on Toonami back in 1998. Back when Moltar used to run the thing and not that chimp robot in a spacesuit.

Fighting evil by moonlight!
Winning love by daylight!
Never running from a real fight,
She is the one named Sailor Moon!
That was my first anime, and I absolutely loved it (and still do! ^^; ) What got me interested in it again several years later were the pictures of Chobits I saw in a magazine a friend had picked up for my brother. Then I decided to watch Rurouni Kenshin one day, and that was it...I was hooked!!

Akira's original dub back in 1992, though it was four years before I really started to get into the addiction after I watched Macross and Ghost in the Shell.

Hmmm I think my first anime was Samurai Pizza Cats...haha. I think later I moved onto DBZ, still clueless that these were all something known as 'anime.' Oddly enough, I have to thank DBZ for me becoming a heckuva lot more knowledgeable about anime that I know now, since I spent so much time on the internet googling up as much dbz info as possible (when I was a clueless fanboy), and basically along the way I picked up pieces about other anime and anime in general...

Well considering every darned saterday morning cartoon is pretty much anime the first I saw is a mistery to me. The first anime that I got into though was Gundam. Gundam 0083 I believe. After that it was zoids, and zoids chaotic century, and basiclly whatever was on toonami. I really started to vary my veiwing when I finally figured out what anime was an found out hastings had a lot of it to rent. Then I started going crazy.

I was introduced through Superbook and The Flying House. Our church had a pretty big collection of them. (The church anime section
what a concept!)

My earliest memory of anime is watching my older brother tape Princess Mononoke. But I never actually watched one until my brother started buying the Gundam Wing, Trigun, and Cowboy Bebop DVDs from Suncoast Video as they came out- where he got money to pay for all of this I have no idea. ($30 a DVD!)

Superbook, tho' I didn't know it at the time.
Gundam Wing was my first anime that I knew was anime.
Trigun is the only anime I've seen all of.

Sonic the Hedgehog, then Pokemon/Digimon, and by the time Gundam Wing rolled around, I was gone.
I need to go back to my old, incredibly conservative private elementary school one day, walk up to the principal, and say "^_^ You still showing anime around here? [ie, Superbook]" I predict the reaction to that would be quite amusing.

When Digimon was on FOX I watched that before I knew it was anime. The first one that I watched KNOWING it was anime would have been Silent Mobius. It's been my
#1 favorite ever since.

Which one? There are only two real Sonic animes, "Sonic The Hedgehog The Movie" and "Sonic X".
I *love* the SatAM (With Princess Sally) to death, but that's an American cartoon. As is that weird silly one, and Sonic Underground.

Hehehe, Samurai Pizza Cats!!! I think I was prolly about..6 or 7 ish at the time. Seriously, that show had the most diabolically catchy theme song ever. I'll probably be humming it for the rest of tonight

I used to watch DBZ, Gundam Wing, Pokemon, Digimon, and Zoids with my little Brother. I never knew it was anime, though.

Man: Will somebody cue that bird?!
Samurai Pizza Cats (oh yeah), who do you call when you want some pepperoni?
Samurai Pizza Cats (right on), they're stampin' out crime and you know that ain't baloney.
There's Speedy Cerviche, he's the leader of the bunch,
A heck of a fighter, makes a heck of a lunch,
And little Polly Esther, who's never afraid (thats me),
Of going into battle when the bad guy's invade.
There's Guido Anchovy a wild romantic lover,
The cat gets down, down with a love hangover,
Samurai Pizza Cats, they're so bad,
They've got more fur than any turtle ever had.
They're stronger than old cheese (stronger than old cheese)
Stronger than dirt (stronger than dirt)
If you step on their tails,
then your gonna get hurt. (don't hurt me).
Samurai Pizza Cats (they're fightin crime),
All over town
3-2-1, Pizza Cats are on the run
The big cheese is a villan, who's lower than low,
It's a bit of a shame he lives in Little Tokyo.
We've got our nasty Bad Bird and his nasty Ninja Crows,
As soon as someone finds the script, we might begin the show.
Sit right back, pick up a seat and turn the sound up high,
And if you want the full effect, go eat a pizza-pie!

Like someone previously said, Superbook was my first anime experience, though it isn't my official "first time" since I didn't know it. My first anime experience that got me hooked was when Toonami (Cartoon Network) showed Gundam Wing, Outlaw Star, and the various Tenchi incarnations. I followed those three shows pretty much from start to finish. I also was exposed to some robotech back in the day, but again wasn't aware that it was anime (or what anime was for that matter!). I think the first main thought that crossed my mind to get me hooked was, "Hey, these are long, in depth stories with great characters and emotional depth; I feel like I'm watching an rpg in action!" The rest is history from there!
