Hey, Im'e a fan of Rurouni Kenshin( as if my avatar didn't give it away!). But, lately I have a problem. Every time I want to watch it, something always comes up. This has been going on for two months now. I think God is telling me to stop watching it. What do you think?

Be a little more specific. What do you mean by, "something always comes up?"

Why would that make you wonder that, particularly? We all have things we need to take care of during the day.

Unless there's some issue about your conscience involved, I think it would be jumping to conclusions to say that.

I'd say it's just bad timing. To begin with Ruro-ken doesn't come on at the most workable hour of the day for most people. There are exceptions (Yeah, you know how you are, you late night vampires. ), but I wouldn't never be able to stay up to see anything on Adult Swim. With that said, I'm not surprised you've been missing shows.

But about the moral issue, what about ruro-ken do yu think would displease God? Have you felt convicted not to watch it, but you've ignored that feeling? If not, I don't see any reason why you missing a couple shows would be evidence God doesn't want you watching it.

I mean, sometimes I get busy and skip a meal or something comes up and I don't get a chance to have it. I never assume that means God doesn't want me to eat. There are alot of things we don't get a chance to do, but I would be very hesitant to write all those things off as items that are against God's will.

Eh, I can't add much more. I think it's jumping to conclusions saying it's a sign from God. It's probably more your schedule not being able to work with the show. Maybe try taping it?

Thanks for setting my mind at ease, guys. but what are you talking about Mangafanatic, Rurouni Kenshin is on Toonami, not Adult Swim! I Do not watch Adult Swim!!!!!!

I'd say set the ol' VCR to tape it. I'm not sure if that's a reasonable solution for you, though.

Or save all your shekels and get the DVDs.You could also buy the manga, which is cheaper and then you could read RK whenever you missed an ep.

No, it's bad timing. Anyway it's probably not like an idol as it's only one once a week. (I wish it was on more though...) BTW the manga is the same as far as content goes, just a little more violent, so you could read those to keep up.

However it's not at a very important "arc" right now, so don't worry about it. The VERY important arc starts soon tho'.

Rurouni Kenshin also doesn't go against the Bible (except for Sano's mouth :shady: ).

It could very well be a sign from God. Yeah, it could be bad timing too, but if you FEEL like its God's way of telling you to stop watching it, than do. I've had him tell me to stop watching certain animes that way too (NGE being an example).

My apologies. But it does come on a like-- 10:30 or soemthing on some night (or it did not to long ago). I don't really know when Adult Swim starts and I just assumed it was in that block. Either way, there's nothing wrong with watching some of the stuff on Adult Swim. Wolf's Rain and Witch Hunter Robin have both aired during Adult Swim.

But sorry once again for the misstatement.

couldn't have put it better myself. ;)

I personally had "ups and downs" opinions of the Kenshin series, so I am not sure how likely it is that it would be a sign, I didn't like alot of the stuff in the 3rd arch (though I liked the opening :P), and the show had EXTREMELY little to worry of other than that. so I think it's probably a little of both, are you watching this show casually? Maybe He wants you to consider the contents of what your watching, that doesn't mean stop watching neccisarely, it does however mean, think more carefully, if you watch an episode and, say, it had more vicious fight scene(s), maybe you should debate where your line of too far is and where Kenshin is in comparison to that line. But hey, I love InuYasha, and that has some bad content, but the most important thing is that I acknowledge the content is not good, but I just ask if it is TOO far, and I have listened with my heart, I think if God gave InuYasha a green light for me because I keep mindful, I think He'll deal you the same card if you are mindful too. :P don't worry about it, I saw EVERY EPISODE of that show, it isn't SO BAD that you would get the intense red light, maybe an orange at times (meaning on edge) but never did I actually feel that enough is too much, turn it off. Listen with your heart, and go from there, it sounds to me like bad timing, but maybe He is giving you a sign, who knows, ask God for clear and absolute guidance, His will is the only thing that matters. If you here His voice and obey, you'll be alot more comfortable no matter what the answer was. :)

About the 3rd arc, that's the "Christian" one, right? Remember, that's based on an actual historical event.

Dont fall into the practice of 'mysticism', or believing that every little occurance is a direct omen from God.

There are guidelines in the Bible and God doesn't need to "resort" to such tactics as that. He has said what He has said and if you have questions, do a bible study. Don't be lazy and assume that God is going to repeat Himself just for you.

On the other side of the fence, I believe that God does use everyday occurances to show His pleasure, displeasure and to guide us. I am just leary of trying to read too much into every day circumstances.

So do a bible study. Write down the questions you have about RK and see what the bible has to say. And watch out for textproofing, ie, taking one bible verse and just applying it, instead of looking at what the whole bible has to say.

And in ending, sorry if I came down too hard or sarcastic. I think it is good that you are questioning what you are watching, and to elevate the standards by which you decide what to entertain yourself with.
