It's been announced at Katsucon this weekend that Media Blasters has licensed the Ah! My Goddess TV series for region 1 distribution. Thus far only 7 episodes have aired on Japanese television so they got this one very early.

TV series? Is that the one that has like 5 episodes and has been on DVD forever? Or is it a new series?

This new series will be a 20+ episode, not the 5 episode OVA, or the ridiculous Minigoddess fiasco....

a fiasco? I think it had it's moments but I wouldnt go that far. and the TV show has a slight nod to it in ep 6 with a rat that looks slightly familiar.
But I think with only a planned 26 episodes (unless it does well and gets another season), the A!MG TV series just wont be able to do the manga justice; given that there's 31 or so volumes out and a good number more planned. So its not like theres a lack of material.

Anyway I'm a bit more happy about Genshiken (and maybe Kujian) being licensed, unfortunately I'm not sure whether to cry or laugh at how close that show is to reality; and that I know someone just like Madarame.

I LOVE Genshiken. The manga, I mean. It's so...true. Kinda like the Grand List of Console RPG Cliches.

Media Blasters? Hmm. I haven't been very happy with their dubs in general ... I hope they have half a brain and either get ANiMAZE or Coastal Carolina to do the dubbing, or it's going to stink.

Media Blasters have used Coastal Carolina in the past on it's dubs. Coastal Carolina was the company that dubbed the OAV series. However, that company has since folded. But a new company was started in Ashville by Scott with the same line up of voice actors and perhaps they can get the same ones that did the OAVs.

Right, my point exactly -- if they used one of the known dub casts, I think it would be much better received. After all, ADV was smart enough to use Coastal Carolina (or whatever their corporate reincarnation is) to do the YUA! movie, even though the YUA! series and OAVs were licensed to AnimEigo (who also has the O!MG OAV).

That was very fast! But I'll be sulking for a while about Media Blasters getting it, but hey, it may improve my opinion of them. Although, on the flip side, messing this series up will not gain them any points with me.

Cool, I may want to see this, I just don't like the sound of how they portray heaven (see the reviews here for the OVA and movie).

OK! I know what you mean now! It follows the manga more unlike the OAV that had its own story. I found the first 3 subbed episodes and watched em ^^

Who's Rind? I haven't read the manga in ages... ^^;;

The only ones I know of besides the main three are Peorth (who was in the movie, but she seemed to be on the same side as the others, which was weird), and Hild (don't know who that is, but she has a figure).

If it follows the manga, I'm all for it. I liked the OAVs, but the manga storyline is much better. I REALLY liked the movie, even though it seemed to mirror the "Vespar" storyarc in the manga SLIGHTLY. I also hope they put Mara in it, and go into Urd's background more. I had to explain to someone who'd never read the manga why Urd's angel was half black and white.

Speaking of Mara, did anyone notice that in Mini-Goddess, her name was corrupted to Mar*l*a?

Ugg... Yea its Mara but o well.... I hope they do it better in this new AMG.... Mara is in the opening for it....
Kam, Rind is the goddess of battle. She is the same rank as Bell but in a different division (Bell is earth help and Rind is combat) She is an awesome goddess with a huge history:
Rind was made fun of cause she only had a one winged angel, but it turned out they were twins and she couldn't ake the other appear until she was strong enough. so each angel has its own wing. she is super strong cause she can hosst two angels and she has this massive battle axe....
So, is this series going to follow the manga more (I haven't read the manga, but I heard that it's like...20-30 volumes and still going)?

the manga is up to volume 21 in the US with 22 soon to be released, if not already.

Second, here's an official confirmation date for AMG tv.

AnimeOnDvd

[as an aside, i used the O for AMG at first and it got star'd out. how funny is that?]
