This was just reported at Anime News Network.

Walt Disney Pictures is working on a live-action adaptation of Kiki's Delivery Service. The movie will be based on Eiko Kadano's books that Hayao Miyazaki adapted to make his own Kiki's Deliversy Service movie, which was released on DVD by Disney in 2003. Jeff Stockwell, who wrote the screenplay for The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys, has been hired to write the screenplay for the Kiki movie. Source: Variety

Edited: I forgot to put the L in live. Sorry about that.

I'm sorry to sound negative, but for some reason that plan just takes away the innocence of Kiki for me.

Oh, merciful heaven, NO!!!

I hope something falls through on this. Kiki was a great movie. Why do a live action version!? Oh, why!? Besides, no actress will ever be as cute as Miyizaki's Kiki. Plus, I don't particularly want Kiki put in a spotlight where people can paste her as an attempt of Eastern New Age paganists to indoctrinate children in witch craft. *huggles Kiki* Thanks, Disney, but no thanks.

Okay, I apologize to anyone who ever read a statement of mine claiming that this anime or that anime would be pretty good in live action. None of those anime that I referred to had ever been ones I watch. I now understand the horror that takes hold of you when you hear of an anime you love being converted into a live action movie. Y'all we right. Anime should stay anime.

This is bad news to me.... When I was a kid I used to be excited to hear a cartoon series or something was going live action... But now that i'm much older I don't see any reason for it.... So I have to question why?
It's already perfect as is.

The only good cartoon to live action movie that I can think of is TMNT... but then that went with more of the comic then with the cartoon at the time.

There is no way that there gonna top the anime, So why even try??

They are two different art forms, so it is valid for both to tell the same story.

Anyway, Disney and live action have never gotten along all that well. I fear what Disney will do with any live action adaption of any story. But I will let the live action movie speak for itself. Until then, I will hope for the best.

No-one can do the voice of Jiji as well as the late Phil Hartman in the Disney
dub of the anime.
