Teen Titans new episode

This saturday seemed like a really cool episode in the preview I saw.
Raven's b-day, she gets forced into slavedom by Slade.
However, I saw one scene which had me concerned that the writers are going to hint at her and Robin. If that happends I will be most displeased.
Pro BB+Rae.
Course, then again in the commercial for Spellbound (which has CLEARLY been rerun far too much) they didn't show anything about Beast Boy, yet there was a very cute scene at the end of the episode that seemed to bring them closer together, a better understanding between them; so, I may have nothing to worry about. Oh yeah, and I forgot, in Spellbound didn't BB seem....jealous?

I doubt you can take the comercial too seriously. They're just teasing you. I don't know what's going to happen, but they've so far kept everything very innocent.
Anyway, it's Robin and Starfire as an item. I'd hate to see a cat fight between Starfire and Raven. That would change the makeup of the show a bit.
In the comics:
Starefire+Robin
Beast Boy+Terra (for as long as it lasted)
Kid Flash+Raven
Of course, there's no Kid Flash to be found in the cartoon and Raven really couldn't return romantic affections. Doing so would allow her father Trigon to take over her body and be manifest on Earth.

I'm personally waiting for Robin to ditch the carnival colors and become Nightwing. Yay.

Probably one of the best moments of this whole series was last week's episode where all the other Titans were trying on Robin's costume. Raven of course was classic.

It's not fair! I missed the episode in which they were playing dress-up. Can't miss this week's, it looks sweet. I don't think there's going to be any Robin/Raven. Is it just me, or does it seem like there's been hints of BB and Raven lately, as in after the Terra series.

That's a series I just can't get into. Probably because I was a teenager in the 80's, when Slade (known as Terminator back then) was the enemy of Changeling (!) because Changling's girlfriend died when fighting Slade and the Teen Titans (man, she was evil!). Robin (called Nightwing, I think) was more of a straight arrow back then. The green-eyed alien girl was modelled for fanservice.
So, for me, it's kind of "What did they DO to them?" when I see it
I do like Puffy AmiYumi though

Yeah, that was hilarious. Along with Raven I thought it was funny seeing Cyborg in Robin's clothes since Cyborg is so much bigger.

The Robin cosplay was fantastic. It was the best part of the episode. I'd watch those scenes over and over again.

I've been a big fan of the comics since the 80's, but I think you need to take the cartoon for what it is, and it's not the comic book. A lot fo things are different and they really aren't even trying to make them the same, so I recommend not trying to peice together the plots of the cartoon with the original Titans plots. Just enjoy the stories as they are told. I like the new characters. Robin is more like the current comic book Robin and not like **** Grayson; Starfire is delightful instead of sour; Cyborg is a lot more lighthearted as well; Raven has a lot more personality; and Beast Boy, well he's rather the same as Changeling. The personalities have changed, but they all blend together well, so I think it's all for the good.
(And for the record - Robin was still Robin during the whole Terra thing in the comics. This whole episode is credited with being a big part of why he and Batman had a falling out leading up to his switch to Nightwing.)

Teen Titans is NOT anime. This is in the wrong forum.
Anyway, if they really are trying to hint at Robin and Raven, it's probably just a plot twist. I think they've worked up to the Robin/Starfire relationship too much to just throw it away.

We know Teen Titans isn't anime, however, I believe it has achieved "honorary anime" status here on CAA. Unless I'm mistaken.

Doesn't it seem like more an more cartoon shows are having more anime-like designs to them? At least, I think that's the case on Cartoon Network. The style of drawing cartoons is drifting towards anime- like Teen Titans, Powerpuff Girls, Samurai Jack- the line between cartoon and anime is becoming blurred.
(Sorry, I just had to stick that comment in somewhere)

Oh, it wasn't so much a judgement of the series as it was a sense of "Things have changed" ramblings of an old man. I remember really liking the Slade/Terminator of the comics since he was more of a tragic anti-hero during the period I read it than the personality he seems to have now.
Of course, this was during the age of comics that concluded with "Watchmen" and "Dark Knight Returns." Most of the stuff today just doesn't interest me. Just reprints of the old stuff
(And when I was reading the TT comic during '84/'85, Robin
was Nightwing. But since it's been 20 years
who knows how the comic evolved since then...)
...20 years. Man, I'm ancient

I know how you feel, old man. Modern comics are about 70% crap, 25% OK, and 5% good. There are some titles worth checking out, though. I highly recommend picking up the Batman: Hush graphic novels. Very good, indeed.
Robin became Nightwing in 84, not quite a year after Terra joined the Titans. The current Robin of the comic Titans is Tim Drake - the third Robin. The Robin in the cartoon acts more like Tim Drake, but he's been identified as **** Grayson. But that only makes sense. In the same respect, the comic book Raven is becoming more like the cartoon Raven. That just reflects an updating of characters for modern times.
Edit: Oops. Tripped the censor. Well, I'm sure you all know what **** means. It was innocent, I promise!

You can add Totally Spies and WITCH to the list.Shinzo doesn't count as
it's definitely made in Japan so counts as anime as does DICE.
I agree about last week's ep.being hilarious with everyone dressing up as
Robin.
to be honest when it comes to Teen Titans I'm a total Starfire fanboy,at least when it comes to the series.
Nightwing is indeed the Richard Grayson(note how I try to avoid the nickname to NOT trip the censor
)Robin. However wasn't there a line of dialoge that seemed to hint he was actually one of the later Robins?

It's easy. If it's from Japan, it's probably anime, if it's from America, it isn't. Try as they might, Teen Titans, Totally Spies, etc. will never be real anime. It is in ways cool though that shows like Teen Titans mimic it alot, since it shows the impact anime has made overseas. I just get bothered when it's called a real anime when it never will be.
Sorry for straying off topic. ^^;

So you can't say the name of Robin's secret identity? That's pretty funny. (Wonder if I'll get expelled if I mention the name of a Jesuit theologian who has an unusual last name
).
I see what you're saying about Robin/Nightwing now. I started in '84 and read the back issues, so I forgot he started *as* Robin.

Heh...good episode tonight...even if they did borrow HEAVILY from Sailor Moon S. When I saw the vision of what the city was going to look like, I started having flashbacks to the Silence that were sprinkled throughout S.
Not to mention that Raven does look slightly like Hotaru-chan.

I saw this episode. It was pretty good-- one of the better action episodes. It set up the entire season with an appropriate cliff hanger ending.
I wonder if those symbols have anything to do with Raven's 'demonic' father.... Most likely. Even though this episode was centered around my favorite characters (Raven and Robin), I felt that Slade's return was a little underplayed. He was always my favorite villain, but his returning presence wasn't as strong as I hoped it would be. Oh well.
Good ep though.
From what I've heard, they weren't pairing Robin and Raven together, just making them closer friends, which is fine with me.

This isn't even REAL life! Why should I care!?!?!!!

I wonder why some of the other episodes have not been talked about.
Like the one where they were fighting the magician got pulled into his hat and all the Titans except Beast Boy were turned into animals. Raven was a rabbit, Robin a monkey, Starfire a cat and Cyborg a bear and the way they beat him was to paint themselves red so that they wouldn't show against a red background.

Well,
I think they are, personally...because it is my opinion that Slade was actually talking to Raven's father at the end of the episode...then again, I only saw the last ten minutes of the episode, so I don't know if it was explained who he was talking to...but if they never said, that was what I assumed.
Now you've given me another reason to want to see Sailor Moon.
Curse CN for cancelling it!
Actually the way the propechy seems to have been worded it only indicated that something bad was going to happen when Raven turned a certain age,
it didn't seem to say anything about Raven instigating it.
I have the feeling that Raven's father(if it was him)and Slade are going to manuever her into the position where they make her fulfill THEIR version of the propehcy.
And remember it is THEIR version that we saw in the episode,it may not be exactly the way THEY want it to be.
Knowing the other Titans, and especially Robin and Starfire they'll be fighting to keep Slade's perverted version from becoming reality.

I thought it must have been her father, too... I heard somewhere that he's supposed to be this season's main bad guy, but now Slade's back. I never really pictured Slade as a henchman of anyone, but apparently he is now. Did anyone actually expect Slade to really be dead? I sure didn't...Dudes like that are too evil to stay in their graves!!!
I really hope they continue this Raven plot, because she's just a really cool character. I think Teen Titans would be ten times better if they quit putting in cheesy lines and made it more mature and serious (although it's getting a lot better). Violence...yes, more violence would be an improvement...Sorry, I'm kind-of sadistic, I guess...Or just insane... O.O ACK! So off-topic!!! Sorry!

I don't really want them to get together...But I can definitely appreciate their growing friendship. They make a good duo.
Starfire is a better match for Robin, however.
