i can only assume that you mean the movie with charlize theron in it 'cus the frank peretti book isn't even out yet, what i heard about the movie is that it's about a lesbian couple in which one of them ends up becoming a serial murderer, 'nuff said,
as far as the peretti book goes, i haven't heard anything about it yet, which can only mean that the publisher is keeping things on the down low about it 'cus i actually work in a christian bookstore, and all i know is the it's supposed to come out in march
'nuff said

Monster, Ive heard, is the anime equivalent of the hit TV series The Fugitive. (also a great movie starring Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones...) anyways, its about a Japanese doctor living in Germany, who saves a boy who's close to death instead of helping some rich dude who doesn't need that much work done. Later on, that same boy he saved turns out to be some kind of serial killer or something...hence the title "Monster". in any case, it's slated to be about 70 episodes long, and word has it that it's a very high-quality anime that does not look like the typical anime in regards to animation (there are UGLY people! People are actually UGLY!) and personally, I can't wait until it comes out in the US.

ive downlaoded the first couple episodes, and im checking it out right now
its really good!
and Yeshua-Knight, i dont mean the movie, the anime series ^^;;
id recommend this kind of anime to shooraijin
its got a lot of myster, and doctors, and doctor-termonology. And its basically a murder mystery. There isn't humor. As it's got a much more serious tone to it

this anime is an amazing series. A true classic id say. Very conspiracy-like. Amazing. I give it a 10 out of 10

I've read the manga and don't really know whether the anime follows it straight.
But do allow me to say that the manga is one of the best I've read. There is much suspense, horror, action and drama. I'm very impressed with the storytelling talent of this mangaka. There might be some language and some killings but apart from that, I don't think there should be anything incredible offensive in this title. <--- Note: This is based off my personal observations of the MANGA

It is full of mystery and suspence. And a bit of a "psycho-thriller-ness" added into it. And its quite dark. The opener and ending rocks too!

Yeah, from what I seen the anime follows the manga faithfully and it should! Monster is on top of my list of best manga EVER. Though, towards the end there one fairly graphic scene of a sexual act that I'm guessing won't make it into the anime--but if it does, do look out for it. It's brief and pretty straight forward.
For those who read the manga up to towards the end the part I'm talking about is
when Johan sends that boy to the red light district to seriously mess him up.
Never heard of it, but if there's sex, it's a no-no for me. -_-
I'll be off in the corner with Rurouni Kenshin and Wolf's Rain. (favorites X3)

i finsihed episode 38. And i have to say this is DEFINATELY my number 1. Episode 37 was just.... intensely mindboggling and amazing. There is 2 parts with frontal nudity (not long), around episodes 25-35 so thats a heads up there. When this is over im definately writing a review on this. It's... just so amazing
10 out of 10 i say!

I've seen up through episode 11 of Monster. So far I've been impressed. There were a few instances of poor language and some violence but overall it has been quite clean. It does have a dark feel to it but I enjoy that. ß-) Dr. Tenma (the main character) shows some good qualities too - he is a very compassionate and polite person. Of course I've not seen most of it yet so I can't speak for the whole series but I'm definately anticipating future episodes. And yes, Smarty, the opening and closing sequences are cool. The ending one is kinda bizarre but fits the disturbing, dark quality of series.
