Question about Fullmetal Alchemist ep 7

I'm LOVING the series so far, but man, that was a depressing ep. ^^; Anyway, a quick question.
When that guy calls on a god to end Nina's suffering, is he calling on the real God, or a false one? I only wonder since he said "kami" and not "Kami-sama". If this is explained later, let me know if it is and in that case don't answer. Thanks.
Don't count this as the official answer, but I believe he's referring to the god (of the?) Ishbal or some such.
And, while we're answering questions, can someone explain the power of that tatoo on his arm?

do you really want to know? it spoils the entire plot and the sad ending
on a side note (that i forgot to post at first) there are two more sad episodes and one makes ep 7 look like a sunny day in the park.

It's THAT important....good gracious, never mind then. ^_^ I'll spoil myself on some things, but I think I might let this one go.

R. Zion is correct. His people have their own god that, while similar to the Christian belief (being monotheistic and the like), is not the true God. Personally, I'm quite grateful that it has nothing to do with our world (though the anime features crosses, a somewhat annoying factor).

i agree with uc but that ending sure raises some eybrows. and yeah R.Zion it is that important to the anime.

Ok, I guess I'll just see for myself then. Thanks everyone, and thanks for explaining that, uc pseudonym.

hope ya don't mind me posting a conjecture i have as to the importance, all i've seen is what is shown on cartoon network, so i have no idea where the plot is going to turn next, i'll put it in a spoiler so that only those that want to see it can read it
the tattoo is like a transmutation circle on his arm, and i'm thinking it has something to do with the brothers' father, i'm thinking that maybe this guy with the tattoo is their uncle or something to that effect, in any case, since it's a part of his body, in essence he can do a transmutation, without the need for a transmutation circle 'cus he has one on his arm, it's just not a circle when you look at it from the side but if you were to look directly at his fist with the muscles and everything it would most likely look close to a transmutation circle,
ok folks, if you read my lil' spoiler plot conjecture thing there, i'd appreciate someone pm'ing me and letting me know how close i am to being right

for some reason. WHy do the ishbals look like middle eastern people? I mean portrayed like that. Meh. But scar looks so awesome in the beginning of the series. Then hes like... bleh
episode 7 really depressed me. And episode 8 kinda freaked me out at first, just a little heads up

let me say this now. this episode is no where near as depressing as one of the later episodes. only anime i teared up on. and its just a ethniticity thing with the ishbals having the dark skin and red eyes. but the thing i noticed is, all the oppressed people look like middle eastern people.
second there is a strong hint that a baby later in the series is from a rape, is this true? it never really says but thats what im guessing... anyone else who has seen the whole series agree?
later in the series, Rose gets a baby, but it never tells how, it could of been from rape
If we could keep the short posts in this thread down to a minimum, it would be appreciated. Meanwhile, however, I have a question for desperado. You keep referencing very sad episodes. Keep in mind that I have only read the manga, not seen any more of the anime than is on cartoon Network, but:
Are you referring to Hughes?

yes the funeral is what im talking about. specially where the little girl is going "mommy mommy daddy has to get up daddy has to get up so he can go to work so he can come home mommy mommy why are they burying daddy why mommy" and so on and seeing all the characters (besides al and ed they didnt know about it) crying
by the way i saw all of fma on fansubs before it really came here

hmm, regarding the subject.
hughes death really annoyed me. He was such an awesome character, and i really dislike deaths of good guys in anime
another thing that truely annoyed me the most
major spoiler, i definately do not recommend reading this unless youve finished the series.
when al turns back into a boy of a 10 year old. And remembers nothing of what happened. It annoyed me so much

Regarding Hughes, I approve, actually. The villains actually hit the heroes where it hurt (and many of the readers as well). It feels more realistic than a series in which none of the good characters ever die.
This is one of the few times in my life that I have sincerely regretted reading extremely quickly. By the time I read the warning for your second spoiler I was already well into the spoiler itself. Well, it doesn't hurt that much, I guess. That one I would be much more annoyed by, particularly because of the feeling it would give the end of the series.

I agree with MasterUC. It doesnt make since last the bad guys gets his and yet the heroes make it out with with all the goods.
"To obtain something or equal value must be given in return"
...Master I recommed putting Spiler tags on the first thing that you stated as since we both spoiled it either of us should give out anything to ruin it for others...I hope that made sense.

i acctually agree that some stuff like that makes a series more divers and better but
it was the funeral part that was so depressing, they could have done without that but it did highlight the loss more.....
