Hey guys! I would like to begin a discussion of FMA. The spiritual elements, your thoughts about the characters and plots, etc. Let's get some good dialogue and discussion going! Who would like to start? Come on...you know you want to... ;)

I'm not fond of his Edward dub voice at all but still it is a good rating that he is a Christian. He seems like a nice enough guy also. I've only head his Edward dub a couple of times but that was enough for me, I'm most of the time more of a "strict Japanese audio with English subtitles" most of the time. I don't mind watching InuYasha in the dub because I like the voice actors and actresses. The Japanese audios for anime will I think always be usually leagues ahead of the dubbers audio, but some things like Trigun, Lupin the 3rd (I like Zenigata's dub voice, it sounds hilarious) and Inuyasha are my top of the list for good dubs. Especially InuYasha.

I totally agree that edward's voice actor has alot to be desired, but he isn't the worst, I mean, the voice actor for Al is pretty bad. I heard half of an episode with the Japenese voice actors and they're awesome! There is no substitute. Like in Cowboy bebop, they have really great voice actors(for the english version)(oh, p.s. I have the voice actor for Spike's autograph!) my teacher goes to anime conventions and brings me back all these autographs, like she met the voice actor for Ed and stuff.

FULL METAL ALCHEMIST IS THE BEST!!!!

As far as dubs go, I think this one is passable. I prefer subs by nature. The difficulty in dubbing an anime like this is that it's a serious show that can throw in comedy without warning. That's a job I don't envy, so I don't judge VAs of these kinds of shows too harshly. Something like Cowboy Bebop (which is a wonderful dub) seems a lot easier because there is a consistency about it.

After thinking for a long while, I don't see FMA deserving a 10/10 (sorry to all the fans!) but more of an 8/10. I don't know if that will ever be integrated though.

I actually prefer the dub, but that's because...it's...what I'm used to. XD I tend to watch dubs more than subs, actually, so that's a large part of it.

I thought the the english voice acter did a really good job. The voice that annoyed me the most was the guy who kept talking about his daughter (I forgot his name) his voice got annoying after awhile.

But the one thing I have noticed in the series is personal sacrifice.
Obvisously between the two brothers and Scar and his brother. But also one scene when Lust sacrfices her own personal ambitions to help Edward I forget the exact way the scene went but I found kinda interesting since she suposedly doesn;t have a soul she acts the way she did.
The one thing that I always questioned was the different trinquets that would hurt the humonculus(sp?). I know that they were all very important peices from their past lives but why exactly did they hurt them? This is probably a dumb question and I may kick myself for asking it after someone answers...lol.

EDIT: Nevermind the spoiler wasn't that bad but still Hittokiri04 use spoiler tags and if you don't now how this is how.
then at the end
Fullmetal is probably the only show were I derive equal enjoyment from both sub and dub.

Regarding the dub, actually I prefer the dub to the original voices, even if I have high respect for what Romi Paku can do. It was smart for FUNimation to use a voice that Americans can associate with an American teenager for Ed, rather than the chirpy voice Ed originally has. But then I guess this is because I ran into the dub first before I saw the movie in the raw.

Good to know Ed's dubber is a Christian, though!

This is King anime! It rules in other and iron fist, word by word, with take some best story arcs as characteristic in anime history. The storm food character is my affection, his style is surprising and also, he opens wide the maw sign pleasure happy is noisy whenever he open his mouth.
