Has anyone seen this? I know there is also Dash and TV, but I'm talking about the original. I saw a preview and some screenshots and it looks pretty interesting. But is it really worth trying out? My biggest concerns are nudity and taking God's name in vain. I can handle fanservice to a certain point(Macross 2 is about near my limit), and cussing and violence don't bother me quite that much(unless it's excessive). Any comments are well appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Let's see...it's been a while since I watched the REAL Nuku Nuku (which I LOVED, I hated DASH! and I haven't seen the TV series).
Violence: All cartoonish in nature, or robots blowing up. No gore or even blood that I can remember.
Swearing: Nothing major. Maybe "d" or "h," if even that.
Nudity/fanservice: In one episode, they go to a public bath. If I remember correctly, you see Nuku Nuku's breasts for a total of about two seconds. If there were any panty shots, they were so infrequent that I don't remember them.

Oh darn it! I'll probably have to pass this one up, then. I have a zero-tolerance policy for nudity. It makes me mad that they did that because it looked pretty good.
How about Dash? Any nudity in that?

I wouldn't know. It was so bad I didn't get past the third episode, but the three episodes I saw didn't have any.

Oh, I see. Oh well. I guess I'll turn this one down. There are plenty of anime out there. Thanks, anyway!

I'll have to get my copy out and take a look at it again. I really don't remember a public bath scene nor any nudity. I do remember in the last episode or so Nuku's rival runs around in panties.
Dash is a very different critter from the original OAV and Nuku Nuku TV is somewhat of a sequel to the OAV but not a good.

Hey, cool! Maybe it still is worth checking out. Let me know as soon as you're sure it does or doesn't have nudity as I am very anxious to know.

there is Nudity in the original OVA, both of Nuku Nuku and her child looking Rival.

Correct, there is breif nudity. But it's not much. Though, there is a few parts of "fan service."
To be honest, I found the series enjoyable. It's original, funny and with only having 6eps in the OVA, it had no room for any filler episodes. That's a plus. OVerall, this anime was well done. I only got it because it was on sale, SamGoody was closing down in our mall they had this really huge sale. I picked up many anime titles for 70-80% off. So originally I only got it because it was dirt cheap. I wasn't expecting much, but to my surprise it wasn't bad. It's age rating is a 12+. I think it's well suited. All the jokes and humor is nothing worse then what you would hear in on cartoon network. The series isn't meant to change your life, but merly for you to enjoy yourself... I think it did a good job. Overall, I would recommend it, but that's just me. *shrugs*-

I REALLY LOVE NUKU NUKU, and I really enjoyed the OVA that I do intend to see the rest of the series..... and that also includes.... dash.....
I do admit though I was heavily offended in like the 4th or 5th episode of cat girl nuku nuku when the guys beat up on these two girls... they may have been bad girls, but it still violence against women in my opinion, and it did offend me.

I guess I'll turn it down. As I said earlier, no nidity for me. Oh well, I guess I'll just go back to inishing up Final Fantasy Unlimited.

If you enjoyed the OVA (which I guess leaves you out, heero - even though you started the thread), which I found quite hilarious at points, then you will probably enjoy the TV show as well.
Dash is an aberration. I thought it was very poor and not at all what you'd expect as a Nuku Nuku fan. Avoid it unless you just can't stand the thought of missing a Nuku Nuku series.
The TV show is kind of dopey and a little hard to follow, but it retains the feel of the original (which also was not too terribly easy follow, either, if you were looking for any kind of continuity). The primary characters are pretty much the same as the originals (except Ryonosuke's parents are still together) but there is a new cast of secondary characters - Nuku Nuku's high school classmates. All of them are parodies of anime character stereotypes. This is sometimes funny, sometimes annoying. We also get to meet Ryonosuke's mother's boss, which is worth the price of admission, in my book. The show, on a whole was pretty entertaining and takes a deeper look at what may have been going on in-between the episodes of the OVA.

So what's the story on Nuku Nuku Dash? It looked like it was probably the more comedic, over-the-top installment in the franchise. Generally I don't mind the more over-the-top stuff. Based on the 15+ rating for Dash, though, I'm guessing it's a little more fanservice-y than the original?

I dunno. I got up to about the third episode of Dash before I just couldn't take anymore. I can't believe I wasted money on that garbage.
Oh, and uh...Dash is the darker installment, actually, with practically no comedy. Or plot. Or...well, anything halfway good. I don't remember any fanservice in the first three episodes, but I've been trying to erase it from my memory.

Saw this at the library. Perhaps I should check it out...

Huh. I actually didn't find Dash all that bad, personally. I guess I'm not as particular about my taste in works. I don't recall any nudity in Dash, but
that doesn't necesarily mean it's not there.

Ok, thanks for the clarification. I wasn't too knowledgeable of it beyond the synopsis on ADV's website and was probably overapplying the FUMOFFU principle for defining spinoffs.

I don't recall any nudity, which may mean it was there in small amounts. I tend to ignore it if the quantity is small.
Dash was a complete departure from the other Nuku Nuku series - it was more like a super-hero story then the wacky misadventures of a cat-brain android. It wasn't all that funny and the action wasn't anything we haven't seen before. I rate it as "OK" but to be honest, if that was the first Nuku Nuku series I had ever seen, I probably would have never bothered with the others. It just didn't strike me as interesting. I think the TV series could be described in the same way - the OVA series was what hooked me.

Which reminds me, in three episodes nothing was mentioned about her being a cat-brain android. She didn't even act like a cat. So why then was she an "All-Purpose Cultural Cat Girl?" That title made sense in the two other series, but not in Dash...

Was a pretty tame anime. I saw the Dub'd version. I think it would be considered safe, imho.
Over all, I enjoyed it.
They do go into the orgin of the cat, etc. I could tell you more, but I'd be spoiling.
