Anyone seen it? It looks promising, but also like it might have a lot of sexual content and such. I'm wondering how the content is and if it's any good. Thanks.

I've seen it up to ep 11, but after awhile the content got VERY bad. I feel sorta bad I didn't stop watching it earlier. The show seems to have an obsession with homosexuality, violence (I don't mind violence that much though), sex, cussing, drugs, ect. The story and the characters are very likable, and sometimes I miss the show, but I have to remember why I stopped watching it.

I saw two of the earlier episodes and the only thing that worried me was the violence. I'm taking note of the other stuff Kawaiineko said though. Thanks!

Glitch, since you've seen all of it, perhaps you or someone else who has also seen the whole thing could write a review for our database. Since it's a brand new released title, I'm sure that would help many more people decide. ^^

If it wasn't for the sexual content, I think that Samurai Champloo would actually be a half decent anime, I mean being from the makers of Cowboy Bebop. . . The character Mugen kind of reminded me of Spike in a way. . .
I saw up to episode 17, and if it wasn't for the sexual content I could actually finish watching the series. . .

Actually Glitch there is. When you hit "submit review" you are given what looks like a form to fill out. Basically, you give several categories a "rating" (with the scale system explained) and then explain all the details for why it was given. Example: if I gave cowboy bebop a 3 for sexual content, under description I would write: "Faye dresses in a very skimpy outfit, and there is a scene where she walks in on someone". Be more concerned with accuracy and detail, but as long as you don't utterly butcher the english language, Gypsy should admit it. If you have any more questions you can PM either myself or her.

Haha. Actually, the guy who's directing Champloo is the same who directed Cowboy Bebop (I can't say he topped himself on this one....)
I saw up to episode 7or 8ish on this series, yeah, really random episodes about sexuality and stuff (despite the good action scenes). The art and animation is very good though, but the questionable content is a major turnoff.

This show seems pretty good. Even though I've only seen a few episodes, I can still appreciate the style of the show. There are several faults to the series, however... One of those being a relatively random plot. Some of the episodes don't fit in with the continuity of the show, but the characters often make up for that.
I've seen less than 10 episodes, but I'm going to download the rest of SC soon. It looks decent.

If people feel un easly about the anime. They could wait a bit for the showing on Adult Swim this summer.

I just finished volume one. It easily has some of the best sword action since samurai X. I like Jin the guy with glasses he rocks
Fuu is pretty cute. I should find a pic of her for the cute girl thread
I want to see the rest of the series however the above posts will make me aproach this one with caution.

I just watched throughh eps 20, and wile one episode is about a gay guy and the theme does pop up from now and then, also there is a few times where the story revolves around a whore or whore house, but it never is sexual for sexual sake, it all is presented in a very adult manner as in it is just a facet of the culture they are in. I did not feel it was overplayed or that even sex itself was ever made a main issue. in the episode about the gay guy, he is looking for a place of aceptance, not a partner, he does crush on one guy, but ts nothing aside form a hug that occurs. In all honesty, i fet this has as much sexual content as cowboy bebop does, or maybe outlaw star. i cannot speak past episode 20 though.
I really like the storyline so far as well, each character is very interesting and well developed and i really like them all.
there are two morethings that some may find objectionable in this anime, there is a false profit thgat utilizes christianity for his gains in a town and he is never corrected theologically, he is just stopped and told that this is wrong, but then again that fits with the culture at this time as in not many people knew anything of cristian theology. it would have been odd to have it be otherwise.
and in one episode a "ki" style is used. if a few glancing blows and the basic WU SHu martial arts principal is offensive there is an episode you might want to skip, i can't recall the number off the top of my head though.
Overall, i realy like this anime becasue it follows the three travellers and it is about how they become family and deal with the problems as such. I recommend it, enjoy!

I've decided to wait until this show comes to Adult Swim. The episodes take up too much space on my poor little PC.

Sorry to bump this, but Saturday night, a thirteen-year-old girl in Maryland fell in love with Samurai Champloo. Guess who it was. XD;;
Beautiful, awesome, lovely animation. STEVE BLUM. If they edit it down for Adult Swim, I can watch it, so I'm not worried about any of the content, really. I immeadiately rushed to Anime Web Turnpike and got me some walls. XD

I watched the first season (#1-18 ? ). The second season came out just a little while ago in Japan, I can't wait to see it.
If you felt uncomfortable with Cowboy Bebop, you shouldn't watch this. I think I don't really care about this such a thing, but this series is really for mature people who are 14+ (I think.)

The bad thing about watching it yesterday was that the action was so
frenetic that at times it was hard to follow along and there seemed to have been little actual plot.
The good news is that Kari Wahlgren does Fuu in the dub.
The better news is that the wonderful Wendee Lee is in next week's
ep.!

I also watched it and found the show kind of cool, both the action and animation was well done. The story itself also looks to be promising.I will agree it does have a bit of violence, but that's probably the main reason it's on Adultswim and not toonami. Can't wait to see more episodes.

Watanabe Shinichiro is the director. I couldn't believe it, then I saw the first Episode and it was ok. If you have seen Bebop, the content is basically the same. Even the main character beside Jinn, somewhat looks and definitly acts like Spike ( as hotheaded, definitly). The sexual content is basically the same as Bebop. Anyways, Wendee Lee is showing next week? Yeah, Faye's voice actor is showing, hehe, lol. They should do Ed though, oh well.
