Any one as stocked about the Robotech 20th anniversary as I am.
To tell you the truth I am in a state that I have got to get my hands on a Veritech some how some way
I just got to wait 4 more years and the veritechs will be perfected in time for the zentradi attack.

Actually, the space fortress landed in 1999, ending ten years of global civil war.
You know, no series has meant more to me than Robotech. I think there are a few others that maybe better, or perhaps I enjoyed more, but none has had the impact of Robotech - specifically the Macross saga. I even role-played it for about 10 years.

I am frightened o.o Robotech the Macross Saga is the first Anime (that well, ok, I didn't know it was anime but it was the first serious Anime I watched). I was so impressed with it, I wrote a half dozen pages in my Diary about it, the Zentrodi, the hero's plight, etc. It was the first thing I ever saw that was animated in which a main character died.
I do have some sentiment for it but completely loathe the (american) vocal tracks now hah ^^;

Perhaps the government is keeping it under wraps. Maybe we should go to Macross Island and check for ourselves.
I just recently got the SDF Macross boxed sets (as opposed to Robotech). I am very anxious to see it as it was originally intended, before Harmony Gold spliced it with two other shows.

Robotech will always have a special place in my heart.(well, not literally, but you get my jist.) It was my first anime. It was also the first anime I got on dvd. I am just talking about the Macross Saga though. It has got to be my favorite anime of all time. When I got it, I wasn't very much into anime, this was just my exception, but then I saw the previews for other anime and thought "hey anime is pretty cool, I could get into this." The rest, my friend, is history.

oh yes, I personally am SO looking forward to "The Shadow Chronicles", the newest chapter in the Robotech Saga. I only hope it's well written AND developed.

I've only seen the Macross Saga but love it so much. Get the novels!!! They are a lot better than the show which was really good.

I watched one episode in 1996 and was totally blown away by the idea that a cartoon could have characters and a plot. Now I'll hardly put up with one that doesn't, but at the time I could hardly get my head around it.

Anyone have a Robotech Series release chronology? I'd really like to see how far it's progressed from Macross Saga

Is Robotech the same as Transformers?

Not remotely. Transformers were talking, intelligent robots who turned into cars / planes and such but had independant and individualistic traits.
Robotech is about airplanes (or motorbikes, as in the 3rd season) that transform, at the push of a button or the pull of a lever, into a robot controlled by the pilot. The pilot is the individual, not the robot.
I hope this helps.

Let's not forget the transforming tanks of the second season.

Honestly, I stopped watching after the first disc of the 2nd season. I was only really interested in Macross, and now that I have the original SDF Macross, I gave my Robotech to a friend of mine.
