Gamestop anime sale...

Gamestop is getting out of the anime business, or at least they have stopped getting new anime DVDs. It's not that surprising, when you consider all of the major chains like Best Buy and Suncoast that carry anime.

Anyway, I thought that you guys might like to know that Gamestop is currently having a 50% off sale on all of their anime DVDs. I went by there today and saw some pretty good deals, and picked up three DVDs myself. While I am not 100% certain, I assume that this sale applies to anime boxsets as well.

Anyone who has some Christmas money that they want to spend might do well to check this out...

Thoughts, anyone?

Are they just an American business, or are they over in Aussie as well?

Gamestop got into the anime business for awhile but now it wants to get out. Thus the sale. However, not every Gamestop will actually have the anime DVDs. One Gamestop store in my city does. Another Gamestop in my city doesn't.

Are they just an American business, or are they over in Aussie as well?

According to their corporate website, their stores are only in 49 states, Puerto Rico, and.... Ireland.

Oooh this sounds very cool, I hope my local gamestop has some anime that I truly wanna watch.

Maybe it's a good thing they're stopping the anime selling, lets give someone else some credit.

I got three Trigun dvds there last week for $20 - all of them. I'll have to get to a larger one and see what they have...

How long does this sale last? Until they're out?

They seem to carry the "most popular" titles-- things that would move off the shelves quickly. Not so many titles that might have less mass appeal. Or that's how it used to be anyway.

My thinking is that they figure the used ones are already marked down enough.

I just went to the only two GameStops in my town, and nither had that kind of sale going on. the only sale was "Buy any two used games/DVDs and get a third free." they had plenty of DVDs, especially anime.

Well, I went to both Gamestops in my city with no luck. Most if not all stuff looked used and not wow-wow in terms of condition, and I didn't find anything I really wanted to buy anyway. :-\

Hit Gamestop 12/31 myself (Santee, Calif.) ... w00t! Master Keaton vol 1 new for $8. Three used titles ($13, $10, $10) for $23 -- including Someday's Dreamers vol 1 which I'd been interested in. Millennium Actress new for $14.

There were a lot of DBZ and Rurooni Kenshin titles there, some others unmentionable here, and I think I saw some Lupin as well.

WOW, I need to hit up Gamespot then! Plus, I always wanted to see Someday's Dreamers, I hope they have a copy there when I go... *crosses fingers*
Regardless if they are used or new, it's still a great buy. Just hope all the anime isn't gone.

I went to my Gamestop today and they had a pretty dismal selection unfortunately...
