Though it isn't based on any anime, the Japanese film Versus is the best example of live action anime. However be careful, it contains a lot of gore and foul language.

I think anime should stay anime. It was animated in the first place I see no reason to turn it into a live action movie. I don't like it when they make movies out of anime.

I may have to agree w/ Kenshin17, "anime should stay anime." The producer of "Grave of the Fireflies," stated the only reason he made the movie into an anime was because it was impossible to find actors to portray the emotions (facial or body) needed to make it look convincing. Because originally, he wanted to make it into a live movie. Good thing they left it as anime, I really enjoy it the way it is.

Wow... Kite and RBHS are two anime I would not want to see turn real.
First of all, Isn't kite a bit young in the series? And in the unedited version, I believe they show her getting raped.
RBHS has more panty shots than you can shake a stick at. I can't remember if there is any nudity besides that... but still... I wouldn't want to see this turn live action.

Arrr, personally I have seen some live action versions of animes and its just not the same.... I mean the animation is what makes the show! I would never go buy or see one except for the times I've found clips online, lol....

I think the reason I cringe at the idea of anime being made in live action movies is because their are so many things a character that is only bound by the creativity of his makers pen can do that a real person (with or without Hollywood magic) just can't do. Furthermore, an director who takes on such a project is simply begging fans to write him hate letters. Afterall, think of all the tumult that surrounds book to movie adaptations. Atleast in a book every person imagines the characters and the actions slightly differently from the next fan, and, therefore, most actors of actresses playing book characters will fit atleast some people's mental image of the characters. But in anime-- everbody has the same character image, and the same image of the way the action should flow, ect. It will be IMPOSSIBLE for any director to put what every fan will be expecting onto film. Poor directors. They're just asking for a bloody nose.
Plus, as sad as it makes me, I think that they're making live action movies because people won't see the anime.

Recently there was a live action Cutey Honey. But no one should ever watch Cutey Honey in any form ever. Ever.
They're working on a live action Devilman right now. I like the Devilman from the 1970s only because of how unintentionally funny it was.
Also, they're working on a live action Gigantor/Tetsujin 28. I saw the teaser, and it has potential.
A live action Casshan/Casshern was made, and it's supposed to be pretty decent. It looked pretty good from the trailer I saw.
And no, I do not know who "they" are.

There's a live action "Witch Hunter Robin" in the works from the Sci-Fi Channel. Also, before Kikaider was an anime, it was a live action show.

I think that anime could work as live action but it depends on alot of variables. I mean the director has to really know how to capture the essence of what makes the anime.
The story line plays a big role also, If you don't have the money to pull off the awesome special effects that are needed, You shouldn't be trying to make this film in the first place.
So to end things; I really hate when people srcew up shows that are good originally. If a live action movie can't be pulled off it shouldn't be forced..........

Anime is animated it just doesn't translate well to live action simple as that. A live action Simpsons wouldn't work and a Forest Gump or Godfather anime wouldn't work. They're two completely different realms.

SOmetimes anime can be integrated well into live action. Look at Kill Bill. As disturbing as the anime scene might have been, it worked well. Also, I think using an anime
style in movies works great.
Like Versus, the film I mentioned before. It's very anime-esque with its action and story. Also, The Matrix had a nifty anime feel to it.

Actually, I think the WHR might work. It's one of the few animes that COULD translate properly. It probably won't, but it could

I hate the idea of anime becoming live action, but I am one of the biggest fans of Witch Hunter Robin, so I would probably watch it.

THAT'S the understatement of the year...
I love violent action films but for me that one was just disgusting.
If you have access to R2 discs, I recommend the director's
Azumi which is based on a manga (not available in English) and has incredible action sequences.
I've watched several live action (LA) series, and find that in general they're done on the cheap. The action ones seem to be on the same level as Power Rangers. I liked Shomuni, which is generally PG rated with a few sexual innuendos. For the person who prefers hardcore action, Takeshi Kitano's
Zatoichi (recently available on DVD) was good

They are also working on a live action Battle Angel Alita. You guys probably knew that though. I agree with you guys about the anime and live action thing. But I will probably watch the live action "animes" just to see what they are like. I think it would be kind of intrigueing how they transform it into live action. For me it is kind of like Lord Of The Rings. The books are so much better but you still watch the movies and they are good even though all the discrepencies.
