I have the first volume of Stellvia. If I remember correctly there wasn't anything objectionable in it. Volume 2 came out last week and I should be getting it in the mail soon.

I believe Interstella 5555 is a compilation of music videos of a rock group (I forget the name of the group). These were shown on Cartoon Network at one time. I saw bits and pieces but never the whole thing.

Actually, Interstella 5555 is a movie that uses those music videos (from Daft Punk) and adds more songs and sequences to tell one story seamlessly. There is no dialogue and only music, so basically it's a French-Japanese take on Fantasia with a techno twist (and with a much quicker pace). It's directed by Leiji Matsumoto (Captain Herlock, etc.), and it's a really great movie.

As for content, there's nothing bad at all in the movie, unless you consider the "transformation" the band undergoes early on in the movie. The members are seen in their underwear, including the female member, but it shows nothing and it isn't sexual in any way.

If you like techno/electronic music, this one's a must-see! (I feel like the lone fanboy of this movie since few people have seen it.)

You're not the only fan of Interstella 5555 rogie_san! I got the DVD as soon as it came out. I totally agree that it's worth watching if you like techno/electronica. To add to rogie's comments about the content, the band's kidnapper is the leader of a cultish type group trying to take over the universe (kidnapping the band is a part of his plan to do this). I don't think this really counts as bad religion though since the kidnapper is obviously the bad guy but I thought I should throw that out there. I'm in the process of writing a review for it right now. I plan on having it done by the end of the week. I'll keep you updated.

UPDATE: I sent my review in for approval today. I hope it's good enough.

I've seen Super Atragon. Decent hard sci-fi show in the same vein as Nadia/20,000 Leagues under the Sea (but much shorter). It's about two mysterious girls, one in Japan and one in the USA, that have brought advanced technology to their countries and recent event have set the two at odds. Interesting show, and there's nothing objectionable that I recall.

Aaack, they all sound so good. But I REALLY want to see Interstella 5555 because I love techno/electronic music and I've seen 1 of these animated videos on MTV when they were doing an animated video block special. It was really cool and original. ugh, and I really wanna see the other two! *looks for used DVDs online* :bang:

Bestbuy.com and deepdiscountdvd.com sell Interstella 5555 for a little over 13 bucks and both offer free ground shipping. They should have the other titles you are looking for as well. I have never bought from deepdiscountdvd.com but I have gotten nothing but good reviews about them on this site.

DDD has free shipping as well, but don't always have the less popular animes. Ya, I'll definately look at Bestbuy.com. THANKS! ;)

Now and Then, Here and There is my favorite anime. There is a brief bit (not even a full second long) of nudity by a young boy while his pants are being mended. I would actually say that it scores positive points for religion. It is not an explicitly religious show, but it has many values that go nicely with Christianity despite the harshness of the series in general. There is one thing about the sexual content which plays a part in the plot and is in no way fanservice...
One of the female characters is raped by the soldiers of Hellywood. It is not shown, but there is no doubt about what happened.
Looks like a winner to me. (Sigh, yet another anime on my Anime must-see list which I cannot afford to buy at the moment...) But thanks! I'll try to get it sometime soon.

A review on Armitage

>Rign.

As for Rign. I have seen six eps of it on AS showed it.

Reign: The Conqueror is about Prince Alexander. He must fend off political sabotuers, assassins, and the jealousy of his own father to ascend to the position of king. Once there, he begins his quest to conquer all nations and become known as the Great King, though an ancient prophecy fortells that he will be the destroyer of the world and forever remembered as the Devil King.

Anyway, to me it was a odd story and it didn't help having Peter Chung be the Art director and do the Character Design. If anyone remembers Aeon Flux on MTV, then you know what I'm talking about. He was the Director and did the Character Design for it. What drove me up the wall was watching Alexander fight, walk and ride a horse with just about nothing on other then his magic thong. Then again, just about every one wear one in that anime and I don't remember Alexander wearing one in history class. :shady:

I remember seeing Reign when it was on AS. Yeah, the character design of that show scared me away in the first five seconds. *cringes*

That one seemed to have potential, but due to budget problems I never was able to get past the volume 1. I should look for the rest of it someday. Very dark and nasty from what I remember seeing though.

Building on what you said on positive treatment on religion, another good one is Gainax's WIngs of Honneamise, in which a religious girl has a profound effect on a slacker's life. I mean for once someone who is a believer in a religion is not portrayed as a fanatic or an idiot (unlike current American stuff).

Ya, I've looked at that one, and it's on my list as well.
