Does anyone around here collect anime cels, dougas or gengas?

I have some cells, but they were all gifts. ^^; Those things are way too expensive to collect as a hobby.

They can put a dent in buying anime this is for sure.

But one thing about collecting them is, if someone is really thinking about getting into it. They should read up on it, before buying any. Its true that they can be expensive, but some will jump and right right out and buy one or two without really thinking that may could get it for less.

The only ones that I will not touch are hard to find cels, or old anime cels from the 80's. They are will scare you to death on the prices for them.

I was actually debating whether or not to take it up as a hobby. But it's quite expensive. You can find some cheap/reasonable priced ones such as reproduction cels, some of the good ones can get upto $500 plus. Also, you have to take extremely good care of them-- out of heat, humidity, sun and you have to storing them is another issue all together.

Some of the series I want at least one cel from are:
1. GTO. I've found some decently priced reproduction ones prices between $20-50...
2. One Cowboy Bebop one... Those can't get quite expensive.
3. Outlaw Star
4. Vandread. This one is quite hard to find, if anyone knows where I may be able to find one please tell me. I have yet to see one
5. Perhaps one from Ceres.

A good place to find GTO cels is asylum-anime shop. If you never been to their web page, I can send you the link.

Outlaw Star and Cowboy are very expensive, because its high on anime cel collector list.

I'm sorry to say that you will not find any Vandread cels at all or that I know of.

Cels(or celluloid) are a painting on transparent plastic sheet used to create an animation. Each cel is one "frame". They are filmed and then put behind one another to give the illusion of a continuous motion.
