stupid question about anime

why is it a lot of anime characters have fang like eye teeth? its mainly predominent in females (ie. the tenchi girls) but some mails have it specially when there mad (not deformed mad but angry super special kind of thing). im wondering why this is in a lot of anime

it seem to be a symol of anger or of behaving in a rough/violent nature, as some of the girls in Tenchi tend to do... like they turn into an animal of some sort.

Yeah, it's a characteristic frequently found in the more ferocious characters (Tasuki in Fushigi Yuugi and Ryoga from Ranma 1/2 come to mind)--gives them a more wild look. Other than that, I know quite a lot of my guy Asian friends that have prominent canines XD

Yes, it may also help to give the teeth a 3-D look, when the canines form the corners. But I'm no anime expert.

ok i woundered about this. it was just something weird i noticed the other day, such as seeing the giant fang like teeth. and it does make since about it being there to make them rougher.
