Anyone seen Mao-Chan?

Yet another anime-specific question. Mao-chan is basically about three 8 year old girls who defend against (literally) "Cute Aliens" that fall to the ground, in hopes of invading Japan.
It's pretty much a cuteness show at heart, but it does poke some fun at the Magical Girl genre. It was created by Ken Akamatsu (of the Love Hina fame) and is pretty hilarious if you can understand the reason for it's "over-cuteness."

I remember sitting through a couple episodes of Mao-chan with my brother and a couple of his friends...poor kids, it looked like their brains were about to slide out of their ears. xD It's an okay show - the music and the animation are cute, but I kinda see it like cotton candy. All sugar and no substance.

Yes, I'll admit it. I collected all of Mao Chan and enjoyed it very much. I especially like the Love Hina references in the show and the appearance of Naru towards the end of the series was very funny. All around a cute little show.

I only have the first volume of Mao-Chan and am VARY interested in seeing the rest of them. I have them all in gashapon figures.

I made a point not to buy it, but only because this looks like exactly the type of addictive fluff that would decimate my wallet if I gave it the chance.

It can't decimate your wallet, the series isn't that long. It is full of terrible, horrendously cute monsters bent on conquering the Earth with their irresistible cuddliness, though. So be warned.
Anyone else doubt that typical 8 year old girls would be the right ones to take on such a mission? These are extraordinary girls indeed.

This is true as it is only 4 volumes long. However, because it is distributed by Geneon even some of the low cost stores (like Best Buy) have it on their shelves for $30.00. If your going to purchase this one it would be best to find an online company to get it from.

Part of what makes this such a great title is the reason behind their taking the girls on to combat the aliens. The reasoning: The Japanese military would look like big bullies if they went around beating up cute little space critters. Therefore, get cute little girls to do it and all the people will go, "Awwwwwwww!"

Cuteness decimating cuteness. I think that would scare me more than anything - yet it is somehow...very...cute...
