I think the end nicely tied up the story begun in the first OVA. Specificly...
...the cross shaped scar. In the first, Iizuka says that scares that were made be people out of spite don't heal well, which is why Kenshin's scar won't fade, and why he undertakes a life of penance. At the very end Kaoru notices that the scar fades when he dies in her arms, which I feel is symbolic of him finally accepting forgiveness for his sins that he commited in the revolution.
I think it is probably the deepest story from the Rurouni Kenshin series.

Love is that feeling you get when a girl looks at you and it feels like your driving a car at high speeds and experience a sudden drop. You know what i mean? That sudden sinking feeling you get in your stomach? Yeah, that's love. Leave's you speechless everytime.
Eh?! So he DID die?? I know that they both had a disease at the time and were almost in a sense "dying together", but I was probably the last one the realize that he probably died RIGHT THERE!
The movie was a great ending to the series. CDLviking nailed what I felt about the symbolism at the end, but don't read his post unless you've seen it!

The OVA's and movie are a must for the big Kenshin fans, but the more casual fans may want to stick with the TV series. The tone of the OVA’s are much different and more dark. Still, they are very good and round out the story perfectly.

I'd have to watch again but...
Kenshin is I think 27 during the TV series. In the OVA much time has passed. He's married to Kaoru and they have a son in his teens. Kenshin is probably over 40. That's still kind of a young age to die at, but the point is that Kenshin fullfilled what he set out to do in life, to repent for his crimes in the revolution, and to return to his wife Kaoru.
I enjoyed the movie. I didn't like that he died but in a way it was a fiting ending, and he died happily and peacefully in his wifes arms. Can't think of a better way to go.
Exellent animation and good action sequeces. They are few and far between though.

I've seen the first half of the movie. It was alright, though I caught my attention wondering at times. But overall, not bad.

NC-17 is an MPAA rating that is reserved for some of the most graphic and disturbing stuff out there. Most anime, including this one, is not rated by the MPAA. The 17+ rating is a guide put there by the distributer to help parents gauge what their children are watching, and is not an equivalent rating to NC-17 (an 18+ rating might be). The rating is probably due to the graphic violence of some scenes. I personally think 17 is a bit high for this one.

Yeah I don't remember anything in that OVA that was overly violent... The first two OVA volumes are well rated though, but as for Reflections, at least give it a 15 for the maximum...

the only possible reason i could think of aside from the fighting was the fact that it's not something that a 10 yr old kid is going to really get, the emotional and mental maturity just isn't there yet, that was the only reason i could think of for the warning, look at the series, that's about on par with dragonball z, and they'd keep showing that 'til doomsday if it'd keep an audience

Alright, I know the thread's old but I didn't want to make a new one.

BEWARE THE SPOILERS!

I just watched it. Oh my goodness.

a little boring but still very good

I don't think boys appreciate romance as much as us girls......poor things. *comfort hug*

I was...at the end...I was...wah...anyway...

GOOD THINGS

1) They TOTALLY bishified Sano! Oh my goodness, I had no idea he could be that good looking...

2) Yahiko is so bishie...oh my.

3) Kenji is a bishie. And he's really cute when he's a little kid. ^.^

4) Hiko's the same as always. Sake-loving, arrogant sword-master. :P

5) Kaoru isn’t violent. I guess that’s sort of a complaint, but whatever, it was a romantic movie, not a silly one.

6) No bad language except in the Japanese version.

7) No religious content unless you count the scene with Tomoe’s memorial, where Kaoru is saying things to Tomoe in her imagination.

8) It wasn’t that violent except for the part with Jin-e, some flashbacks, and Kaoru imagining the various ways Kenshin could die. o_O

BAD THINGS

1) They TOTALLY uglified Kenshin. Okay, so it wasn't THAT bad, but...he looked like an old man sometimes...*complains* Tho', you can't really mess up Kenshin. He's too cool.

2) Megumi was really, really cold about Kaoru’s disease. She just didn’t seem to care.

3) Kenshin’s eyes didn’t turn yellow in the fight with Jin-e. I know, it’s weird, but…I like it…uhm…is that okay?

4) Tomoe's brother is a freak. Before he came right out and said who he was, I had a feeling: Is this Enishi? Those eyes...that expression... My, he grew up to be quite the frightening young man, huh? O_O

5) They somehow made Jin-e even more hideous than he usually is.

6) Misao wasn't there. That's a complaint of mine. I would have liked to see her as an adult.

7) The subtitles for the song at the end credits with the waves cracked me up. They were just so...so...bad...they made absolutely no sense...

8) The infamous Scene. It wasn’t as bad as it could have been, but…it deserves a higher rating on the “sexual contentâ€

I've seen the original and really liked it, but I haven't seen the Director's Cut yet. I certainly want to though.

I don't know that 40 would be considered old, but it was certainly not uncommon to die at a young age.

We don't find out, but it didn't look like that, it looked like some kind of really bad red rash...o_O

I agree...:( I wanted to see how Misao would turn out as an adult...oh well.
