CAA: Christian Anime Alliance

Okay ran a search on this series and came up with nothing.... Has anyone heard of/seen this series before. If so what do you think?

i thought it was very good for an anime. ( ive only seen ep 1)

certaintlty breaks away from almost every clique too ( the ambiguis main character)

the one thing that goot me was the main character, you dont know if its a guy or girl. guess thats the only thing i remember. =]

Main character is a girl! I thought the same thing! I absolutly love the series! I'm thinking of changing my siggy to Kino... She's awesome.

it looks kind of interesting. what is the story and where did you find it? :)

I've seen some of it, and it didn't strike me as being all that good. Basically each episode involves Kino travelling to a different place, and each episode is a little morality tale. Kino's character is a bit of mystery, as her motivations and personality are never really revealed. The show is also pretty episodic, and did not appear to have a significant story arc of any kind.

I think in some ways its comparable to King of Bandit Jing in terms of how the series is structured, except Kino is more angsty and introspective. Her sidekick is a lot less fun too.

All that is true. It is very episodic, but the story line was, well, hidden, more or less. It's directed toward the inner being. (oh here I go again sounding New Agey.) I feel like she's on a search to understand the world, creation. And by her travels, she learns the different cultures and views that people have. Kino takes them in then decerns for herself what she would do in that situation. She tries not to interfer with the culture, but sometimes is drawn in by a character. It's almost as if her travels to the different countries can relate to the travels we make everyday. We are visiting on this unknown planet, taking in what is around us, then decerning what we tnink, know, to be right.

That's my two cents on that.

I found it at my library of all places. Then did a Google search for the pics and all that.

I saw the first two DVDs and found them very intriguing, even if the pacing left something to be desired.

The central message of Kino's Journey seems to be that everyone must utlimately decide for themselves what is right and wrong. On a more cynical note, it also seems to emphasize that establishments such as the church and government are at best misguided and at worst active enemies of the people and that anything other than Kino's detached relativism leads to the bizarre and extreme practices she encounters in the various countries.

i saw the whole series I really liked it.. except for the ending I really wasn't crazy about how it ended. Mainly because of the things Technomancer mentioned, I didn't like the way they didn't ever really reveal much about kino's past or what she was planning to do. It's also a really short series too short in my opinion. However I liked the challenge of figuring out what was going to happen or going on in the country she was visiting. It's pretty much a sci-fi/action anime. I liked the series enough to get all the dvds and I do recommed it.

This gives me a very good reason to watch it.

I'm different from most people; I know that in life, often times nothing is really resolved. Think of the people you know and may have even been friends with. Do you really know all about their past? Do you really know what their plans for the future are?

I think it's interesting how most people see background information on characters and closure on certain plot points as essential in movies, television shows, and the like, when in real life hardly anything gets wrapped up "in a neat little package," to use a tired cliche.

I like to use my imagination sometimes, you know. So that wouldn't bother me in the slightest, and in fact, I had been planning to watch this for a while anyway. This just makes it all the sweeter.

I totally agree. You don't always need to know everything about a character in order to enjoy a series. Sometimes the journey is more important than the destination.
