Ghost In The Shell 2: Innocence content questions.

Postby That Dude » Fri Oct 29, 2004 3:30 pm

Hey this movie just came out in select theaters here in America, and low and behold it is somehow out here in Colorado Springs.

I was just wondering in anyone has seen it yet. And if you have what is the content like? It's rated PG-13...So I was wondering if it was for fanservice or violence or both...If it's clean enough I'll go see it.

(I haven't seen the original yet because I can't find an edited version.)

Um well "fanservice" would definitely not fit the description. It is about female robots but you don't see them very often and the only time you do see one which is completed it isn't very detailed. Hmmm I finding this really hard to describe basically they all have so what of an upper chest but its never defined and you really cant tell that they are girls at all or even close to being human for that matter. What really defines them is their face! Overall it is a really awesome anime movie nothing like the original ghost in the shell. It has some of the most beautiful animation I have ever seen in my entire life though! The story is really different and intriguing. The problem with it would be that they are investigating robots that are killing people but these robot where originally created for very perverted reasons :P Surprisingly the main point of the movie is all about theology though defining if robots have a "soul" kind of confusing at times but good never the less :D

Violence--a lot of it. Graphic violence, mature/sexual themes, and basically your average load of psycho-philosophical babble every 3 seconds.

Very beautifully animated though, as expected from the makers.

I haven't seen it, but you can go to http://www.kidsinmind.com and find out what is in it. Psycho_ann pretty much has it down though.

Mature sexual themes? There was none of that besides the fact that they looked like naked Barbie dolls with small shapeless breasts. There really was nothing that had to with sex other than the cyborgs were called "sexaroids." That's a laughable word anyway I kinda chuckled at that part.

The violence was graphic at times but pretty brief. In the beginning you see a headless body but since Batou is seeing it through "cyborg coolness mode" it's only an outline of the body. When Batou fights the Yakuza goons there's alot of gunplay. And of course at the end when some security guys get wasted by the cyborgs. That's really about all of the violence with blood and gore in it. The two most disturbing scenes were probably when the cyborgs faces opened and it exposed their creepy cybernetic innards on two occasions. And when you see a bunch of bloody kitchen utensils and cuttlery in the sink.

Mature sexual themes?

I was referring to the whole idea of the gynabots (I watched the original) used as sex toys--not and graphic depiction of the themes. So sorry about that misunderstanding. I felt it a fair heads-up because other people might not be as comfortable with the idea of it.

And yes, though the violence is relatively mild compared to even the first GitS, it's still there regardless. I tend to overrate violence for people who ask about it, just so they don't get blindsided when they go in expecting something less. ^^ Kinda like I went in to watch Shaun of the Dead not expecting a detailed shot of a person getting his insides eaten while he's still alive.

Well I just don't think it's fair to talk about the content in a general manner that gives people a false impression. Like the gynabots ripping apart their masters...I don't recall that.
