I heard that it had "mature themes"...I'm looking into the boxset of RK OVAs, but I want to know what's up with Reflections first. Can anyone tell me?

There's a FEW bloody scenes, one involving the corpse of the one politician and his coah covered in blood, and section lasting 20 secs or so showing scenes from the other two OAVs superimposed, I believe, so it's not exactly in crystal clarity, but far from invisible.

There is also a sex scene, but you see nothing but the shoulders and up, and there's also one point when Kaoru is being checked over by Megumi and her kimono is open, but it's right after a scene transition, very quick and her skin is diseased so it's over before you realize what happened. Not sure how much detail there was, but you'd have slow mo to find out.

Other than this, there may be the scant "minor" swear word here and there (now I actually forget if there was or not), and besides Jin-E's frightening VA, all in all Reflection is marvelously done. It's a favorite of mine and very heart wrenching.

Oh, and a word of warning, watch through the credits because there is a small scene afterwords.

I enjoyed "Reflections" but I like "Trust and Betrayal" better.

As R. Zion mentioned thiers some bloody scenes. They show some flashbacks to ""Trust and Betrayal"
of Kyosato's death as well as Tomoe's death.
. We see Udo Jin-E's death scene where he stabs his sword through his heart (edited outin the television version of Kenshin when aired on Toonami).

Sanosuke coughs up blood. We see a very detailed picture of the one guy (i forget his name) was murdered by Soujiro Seta in the TV Series (the scene is very brief), and Sanosuke kills a tiger.

Sexual wise, thier is a little sex scene between Kenshin and Kaoru but nothing to explicit. They're laying on the ground together as man and wife (but still doesn't justify the sexual theme in that scene).

I know Yahiko says "hell" in the dubbed version when talking about how women act.

I was surprised to see it recieve the M 18+ rating. The violence is so so but it's not like "Trust and Betrayal" where it's evident why it got aM-18+. The violence is "Reflections" I from what i think 16+ but they they decide what it should be. Best part of the movie is part of the Jinchuu Arc is in it (Enishi is so cool  )

Bittersweet Movie that made me cry... Reflection is someone confusing but deals with Death - Kenshin's... I feel it is most grievous, because Kenshin through the entire series is looking for something Christians already know - forgiveness - and in the end, ahh... I cry.

Yeah, it was sad for the series to end that way. Not that I expected Kenshin to find redemption - he was looking in the wrong place. I like to think more about the TV series when I look back at the series than the OVA's.

They were married, and it didn't make me lust, so I had no problem with the "sex scene", which it actually wasn't. They're lying together, married couples do that sometimes when they go to sleep. You can't even be positive they're naked, and if they are, so what? It's not a sex scene, it's an implication that they may have or will have sex. There's nothing wrong with that-- the very fact that they are married implies that they have sex.

I didn't recall that that last part. I won't watch Reflections dubbed ever again.

Anyway, despite what the critics may say, it's a good movie/OVA thingy.

Oh...yeah. I won't watch anything with sex scenes, like...you know...AHEMsoundsandmovementsAHEM! *hurls*

If they're just laying in bed (m-a-r-r-i-e-d!!!!), not having sex, then that's okay with me...

Violence doesn't bother me as long as it's animated and doesn't involve people getting tortured to death in dungeons and stuff (tormenting freaks me out). I think I'll see the OVAs, but only if what Falco said is true.

Who says Kenshin didn't find redemption?
I interpreted the fading of the scar to be symbolic of Kenshin's acceptance of forgiveness, considering what we are told about the scar in the first OVA.
I also found the "sex scene" not only to not be offensive, but to reinforce the Christian idea of marriage, sharing your life with your spouse. That's not to say I think it's okay to have sex scenes between married couples, but they were portraying the unity of husband and wife, not sex.

Not in the Christian sense...

I don't think they were trying to portray a Christian view of marriage, but I think their view is very compatible with it.

It's not that I think it's offensive, it's that I think it's gross. :shady:
