Yet Another Cartoon Network Update

PostPosted: Thu Aug 19, 2004 7:15 pm

I know, I know, this is like the third update, but more Cartoon Network schedule changes:

1) The Inuyasha movie "Love That Transcends Time" will not be shown until spring 2005 due to a legal problem involving the DVD release.

2) Ghost in The Shell: Stand Alone Complex will premiere November 6 at 11:00 PM followed by Fullmetal Alchemist at 11:30 PM.

3) The Read Or Die OVA will be shown November 6 at midnight (right after the FMA premiere.)

4) The J-Pop band 'Puffy Amiyumi' will have their own Toonami show entitled Hi Hi Puffy Amiyumi. It is set to air in 'late November', whenever that is. To quote a CN vice president: "The basic concept is that Ami and Yumi are rock stars who are Japanese and who are friends."

whatever. I'll watch it.

Man, that last one just sounds riveting-- don't it? I mean, who can resist a show that's pitches as about two people who are japanese rock star friends. That's a totally original plot. *SARCASM SARCASM SARCASM!!!*

No kidding? I like Puffy AmiYumi's music, plust, I'm rather partial to Ami's name. ;) I'll check that one out.

That's cool, (not the Inuyasha thang) and I don't really get the last two. And I really want to check Ghost in the Shell. That one seems cool.

Ooohh look at the bananas dances.

I hope for your sake you aren't refering to Hagane no Renkinjisushi (Fullmetal Alchemist). There are alot of FMA fans on here, including myself... *punches fist*

GITS:SAC is good stuff, abit violent, but so is FMA. They made good choices in what they aquired I believe. Gundam Seed was a good choice as well, but the voice acting (as always) needed help. I look forward to the releases of FMA onto DVD, as GITS:SAC is already coming out from Bandai (disk one is in stores now).

I agree with TroutNinja on the voice acting...sometimes it really is atrocious.

To Lochaber, I can only say that I was not referring to FMA...that is a good show. I was pointing out the J-Pop and Read or Die... I realize that trying to mess with FMA fans can be...dangerous... ;-)

Those were the days... *sigh*

Edit: Oh, BTW. There's a site on CN progress, it's called Toonami Absolution Next. It isn't official but it's pretty reliable.

Read Or Die, I think, deserves respect.

I am heavily on the CN Adult Swim boards lobbying to get the TV version of Read or Die as well. The ones they have now, is the OVA. So I'm helping to try to get the TV series as well as Gungrave on there. Still trying to get Gungrave. I heard that one is good. I might rent the DVD this week.

Gungrave, huh... I voted for Peace Maker Kurogane.

if you want to vote for CN's new anime show, follow this link -> http://boards.adultswim.com/adultswim/poll_view?poll.id=3787&action=cast_vote

you need a (free) Adult Swim forum account to vote.

one more update (tough to keep up with these...)

the Read Or Die OVA will be shown on October 23, 2004, at midnight and again at 3:00 AM (i.e., in Inuyasha's usual slot). I don't currently know if the November 6 date is still on, or if it has been moved. The other times (for Fullmetal Alchemist and Ghost in The Shell) are unchanged.

also: Segments of The Animatrix will be shown in place of Inuyasha on October 30 at midnight and 3:00 AM. Rurouni Kenshin will replace Gundam Seed (on Saturdays 10:30 PM) starting October 23. New episodes of Rave Master will be shown every Saturday at 7:30 PM, starting October 9.

not a Cartoon Network update: Ghost In The Shell: Innocence will be showing in theaters starting September 17, 2004.

I heard news from Dragon Con that they do not expect to license any more Case Closed eps.

Is this true or not?

Also, that CN will air The Super Milk-chan Show in 2005.

I'm starting to get a bit worried about CN and there ways now, but I'm somewhat happy to see that Rurouni Kenshin is coming back.

both are true.

ps: Super Milk-Chan Show is crap.

pps: Toonami would so rock if they showed Naruto, subbed. [/wishful thinking]

I'm looking forward to see Read or Die, as well as Ghost in a Shell: Stand Alone Complex. I could care less on inuyasha movie. FMA sounds good, just please, please don't licence Naruto and put it on CN. (that would be a nightmare ><)... I'm also very dissappointed in hearing that Ayumi Hamasaki is making her debut in CN. *tisk, tisk* What'ah shame. =_= ;;

Does/will CN show Witch Hunter Robin? For some reason, I thought I heard that. . .

If not, what channel is it that does. I know someone does. *frustrated at her inability to remember details.*

Witch hunter Robin was on CN recently. I don't know if they'll bring it back or not.

don't worry, they'll show WHR again. they always recycle their anime lineup (for example, they are showing Trigun again now).
