Seven Samurai - The Anime?

I've just heard that Akira Kurosawa's classic Toho movie, Seven Samurai, is going to be remade as an Anime which is currently still in production. Does anyone know anything about this? I'm fan of the original live-action version so I'm not too fond of the idea of a remake. But the few Kurosawa movies I've seen were pretty good.

Hmmm. Seems like it's already been made, but not as a direct remake.

I'm against making "remakes" of classics like this, but I'll wait to see it for my full judgement. Kaze no Yojimbo billed itself as another Kurosawa anime "remake" but it was merely average.

Hmm. Looks like an AU sort of adaptation. Still, the original movie rocked. And Toshiro Mifune was really something else.

Dude. The original movie is awesome.
I have watched the first two episodes of the anime at my friends house (fansubbed).
Ok, now while some may have complaints about it being in the future and all technological and stuff, (The bandits are robots.) it really manages to keep the spirit of the movie. However, how they can make this a full TV series without dragging things waaaaaay long is yet to be seen.
