Watch Miyizaki movies. Can't go wrong with those. Or Millenium Actress. Now that's a beautiful movie.

This belongs in the Anime section... ANIME! Sorry for shouting, but this
is the second time this has happened, and no one listened last time. In any case, my favorite anime... It depends on my mood, really.
Intelectual mood: Serial Experiments Lain. Backup: Boogiepop Phantom
Comedy Mood: Excel Saga, but I'd stop at 17 (and skip 16, if I remember correctly...) Backup: Lupin III
"Sit-com" mood: Nadesico. Backup: Onegai Teacher
Escapism mood:
Mononoke Hime (Princess Mononoke) or
Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi (Spirited Away)
Drama (translation: Crying) mood:
Hotaru no Haka (Grave of the fireflies)
Some other Anime I like:
Dual]Crest of the Stars[/i];
Gatekeepers (the original, not 2048 or whatever it's called);
I, My, Me Strawberry Eggs; I'm not sure whether it came out in the US, but
Tokyo Underground was decent for the amount that I watched
That's all I can think of... There is one anime I like that I don't recommend.... I'm happy being a quiet Sailormoon fan, hehehe. *Blink*

It shall be moved. As Bobtheduck stated, it does belong in the Anime forum.
Most of my favorite titles have already been listed. Perhaps it would help if you stated a specific genre or genres that you enjoy?

Cowboy Bebop and Trigun are almost locks for enjoyment. I would say almost all of the folks who like Sci-Fi will love those two, but what else?
If you like to laugh, try the indescribably lunacy of Galaxy Angel.
If you like a little more story to your comedy, try Nadesico.
Not into Sci-Fi so much? Try the great comedy of Azumanga Daioh.
Into fantasy? Inu Yasha is for you.
How about an anime that’ll suck you into a world where you’ll spend endless hours of pure anime bliss? .hack//Sign and the related .hack video games.
Historical fiction? Rurouni Kenshin.
How about if you don’t want to commit to a long series. Here are some great one-shots to check out:
Hyperdolls: A Japanese parody of US Super-heroes
Shinesman: You’ll never look at Power Rangers the same again.
Galaxy Fraulein Yuna: I dare you to figure out what’s going on.
Voices of a Distant Star: Spectacular animation and a touching story
Or get lost in the works of one of today’s greatest story tellers with these movies: Castle in the Sky, Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, and Castle of Cagliostro
I know, that's a lot. I hope I didn't add more confusion than help, but there's a ton a great anime out there and it all pretty much depends on what you like to watch.

Azumanga Daioh - high school (sort of) comedy
Mythical Detective Loki - Norse gods congregate in Japan (WHY?!) Insanity ensues.
08th MS Team - Best Gundam series made in my opinion. Mecha battles, romance, and character depth all in 11 episodes
Samurai Champloo - Samurai action with a Cowboy Bebop flair

I know this is off topic, but I have always wondered why Lupin, a french thief, is buddhist... I mean, it's not like there were that many buddhists in France in the late sixties...
I guess Jigen and, um, the other guy could have converted him, but Buddhism isn't quite evangelstic... Well, not mainstream buddhism anyhow...

I suggest FLCL, RahXephon, Full Metal Alchemist, ROD TV, and Escaflowne. I too want some new suggestions of anime...I'm running out of new ones to see that are REALLY good.

WOW!!! that is a @#$@-load of suggestions. I took the Excel Saga suggestion and bought the first 4. WHOA!!!! Warning to those who have not seen it yet,
ILLPALAZZO IS WATCHING YOU!!!!!!
I also agree that trigun, spirited away, princess mononoke, Cowboy Bebop, and Hellsing are the best Animes ever.
OH NOOOO!!!!! The Puchus are attacking! They are soooo cute!
Anyway, I feel that Random comedies like Excel Saga and Azumanga ( my friends made me watch it i swear) are great for late night parties at the dorm. the later you stay up, the funnier they get.
I think i might try Witch Hunter Robin. *gasp* I know that some of you out there
might have a problem with animes like that but i beleive that as long as you watch it for its story then it isn't a problem. It is a problem if you say, "wow that spell was cool, Let me try to recreate it." Sorry for the theological explanation, I just want this to be a discussion more on what is good and what is bad not what is christian and what isn't. i got kicked off another forum on a completely different site for merely saying that i liked Hellsing.
But back to the discussion. What do you guys and gals recomend that isn't terribly main stream. not that main stream is bad.
Check back in a couple of days.
Have a blessed sunday.
And remember,
Beware the Depraved Walrus!!!!

Ah, it feels good to know I don't have to mention Evangelion.
Comedy: Happy Lesson, Azumanga Daioh
Fantasy: Magic Knight Rayearth (repetitive at times in the first season), Pretear, Final Fantasy: Unlimited, Soul Hunter, .hack//LEGEND OF THE TWILIGHT, Princess Mononoke, Gatekeepers, Gatekeepers 21, Silent Mobius
Sci-Fi: Iria: Zeiram the Animation, any Gundam series, Angelic Layer, Last Exile (would that count as sci-fi?), Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure
Drama: .hack//SIGN, Grave of the Fireflies, Spirited Away
Action: Rurouni Kenshin, FLCL
idiotninja wrote:...Azumanga ( my friends made me watch it i swear)
Is there any shame in a guy watching Azumanga? Many, many guys love Azumanga.

If anyone is about to buy excel saga, beware of the 26th episode. Seriously, this ep is too sick for many non-christian R-rated movie watching friends and acquaintances... Yeah... Stay away from that one.

Well what i have seen is absolutely hilarious. I want to buy the rest. Although i had heard that the series ends really really weird. I would write, more on the topic of my current favorite anime but i just got back from the closing of an emmaus walk and i have to start writing my Chrysalis speech. sooooooo........ ttyl.
P.S.- If any of you get the chance to go on a Chrysalis flight, Emmaus walk, or CYAC Journey then you should take the chance immediately. If you want more info on what they are send me a private message.

No, the series IS weird. It ends in a disgusting way. Of course, unfortunately, if you were following the "plot" of The director, the will of the universe, pedro, etc. that is the only way to finish that part... Still, it's advisable to stay away from episode 26.
I know a lot of people genuinely disturbed by it. I was genuinely grossed out and offended... That's the least I expect.
