oh yeah, it was Titanium not platinum, lol.

so those two things from Gekiranger aren;t actually rangers?? its weird that they would be keys then. And now that I think about it...I'm surprised that Gunmajin from ohranger isn't a ranger key or something. But maybe they left him out since he only ever fought as giant in the show.

They're Rangers in the same sense that Abarekiller and the Gouraijers were. Actually Abarekiller is probably the closest parallel to how Rio and Mele were in Gekiranger. They had their own mecha and stuff too.

For Gunmajin, the situation might be that well, he only fought when giant so he doesn't really count, or it might be like the Ninjaman situation where he doesn't have a key because they lost the suit...why they can't just make a new one, who knows (probably budget constraints).

next episode!

-why does Gai have to transform in order to suggest takoyaki? is that some kind of in-joke?
-wow, love that monster design!
-lol, that guy puts up with being treated like a dog.
-Senden's voice sounds really familier but I can;t ut my finger on it exactly...
-flying Kanji attacks!
-hey, its that stage again! Isn;t that where Tryanoranger fought the sphinx in Zyuranger?
-great battle! like that they did the rll call while fighting this time. and good use of megaranger.
-"one of those kind" lol.
-"allow me to explain!" "no...we don;t care" LOL
-haha, and the monster just listens to Marvelous
-that was an awkward transition after the eye catch
-giant robot battle...*snore*
-that was the msot perfect ending ever. Also...eeeew.
-Agent Abrera! Wait...was he in the "199 heroes" movie too?
-next week Hurricanger! I'm not getting my hopes up anymore though. I'll wait to see it, instead of getting all excited based on the preview

Wow...that episode was hilariously awesome!! I'd say it was even crazier than the Carranger episode! Just totally off the wall and absurd from beginning to end. And had a pretty good story on its own too. Zealasto reminds me of that crocodile/telephone monster from Abarangers a bit.

Spoilered for language because even on here I cannot resist making this joke.
Zealousto is a total motherf***er.
But yeah this episode was crazy, and a lot of fun. Also don't worry, I don't understand the Gai transforming to say "takoyaki" thing either.

Senden was apparently voiced by Yusaku Yara, who...seems to have no real big voice roles. His only real "big" roles are Python in MGS: Portable Ops and Lord Slug in Dragonball Z.

new episode time!

-lecture on sentai history, this should be good.
-wait, is this a disguised recap episode??
-wait a minute! didn;t they get a bunch of ultimate powers from the movie? do those not count? did this scene get filmed before the movie? what's going...oh, nevr mind
-Char!!!!!
-arg! the other guy sounds like how Gilbert Godfried would sound if he could speak japanese ><
-what is with the table flipping thing? They did that in Yugioh GX too, even had a CARD based on it, so it must be some kind of cultural thing. but what?
-what did he just turn that guy into?
-hey were thiose the same office workers who got their bones stolen back a while ago? If so...haha, they can;t get a break.
-darn it ninja, stop laughing like Iago!!
-ooh you ate their ice cream. now its on!
-hey, its that courtyard again. they should make a sentai drinking game out of it. Drink everytime different sentai teams have fights in the exact same landmarks.
-so, those monsters are relatd to monsters from Hurricanger. interesting...
-this has got to be the craziest villain plan so far
-finally, a good mecha battle! But...why did they have to kill Char and leave the annoying one!? now my ears will bleed for another episode.
-let me guess, they split the group so that there would be three Gokaiger left to correspond to the three main hurricangers.
-you know, as much as I know this is supposed to be about the Gokaiger team, I have to admit that I think the Hurricangers have a point about the ranger keys.
-next episode preview looks awesome!!!

w...wow! For freakin finally!!! This is what I've been wanting all along. This is how you really do a crossover! and its a two parter, and the next episode looks like its going to be awesome! Pretty good battling episode overall; those two ninjas were pretty powerful, even if their plan was silly. Loved seeing all the Hurricanger elements; villains connected to the old show, the Hurricangers taking an active part in battle, the foot soldiers from before, everything... Can;t wait to see 26.

Saturakura Jr. is voiced by Bin Shimada, who is most famous for his role as Scirocco in Zeta Gundam, but has also had such high profile roles as Foxy and Wapol in One Piece, and Broly in the DBZ movies. Minor roles you may know him from are Yuuichiro (the guy they named Chad in the dub) in Sailor Moon, and Zangulus (Gourry's sorta kinda swordsman rival) in Slayers. He's also done a MOTW in a lot of Sentai starting from Gaoranger, as well as being the dub voices for Krusty and Troy McClure in Simpsons, Pee-wee in Pee-ee's Big Adventure, Luke Skywalker in Star Wars, and the Riddler in Batman Forever.

But he obviously doesn't use his Scirocco voice in this episode, kinda like how Nobuo Tobita (Kamille from Zeta Gundam) didn't use that voice for Buredoran/Burajira in Goseiger. But Shuichi Ikeda was pretty recognizable, yeah.
I have to admit that I think the Hurricangers have a point about the ranger keys.

I think there's a couple of reasons why Gai is so reluctant to give them up.

One is that Gai is trying to fill the role of a Sentai hero, and he had to overcome a big crisis when Hyuuga asked for the GokaiCellular. Hyuuga said he had to have the determination to man up and not be content to let others try and take that from him. He wants to be the hero Hyuuga inspired him to be.

On top of that, Gai may be unsure if the Hurricanegers will willingly give back their powers after the rescue happens, and doing so would deny them the Hurricaneger ultimate power.

yeah, I understand why Gai is reluctant to give up the keys, especially after the gingaman crossover. But I think that the hurricanger also have a point in being reluctant to trust the pirates and everything. Especially since they are still somewhat selfishly motivated, with their goal being "get the ultimate treasure before the bad guys" more than "protect earth".

episode 26!

-Love Ahim and Don's response to the Hurricangers
-lol, this quiz reminds me of the sphinx monster from zyuranger
-those fake ears make the whole scene a little hard to take seriously
-bing bong! hahaha, that was the coolest ever! Super clever. The Hurricangers are awsome!!
-translating "sempai" as old-timers? shouldn't it just be "seniors"?
-that was an amazing team up fight!!! lots of cool combination moves and attacks and everything. excellent. My only complaint is...wouldn;t it have made sense to have silver, green, and pink change into the three remaining hurricangers, that way we could see the whole team fighting, even if half were the gokaigers and half were the originals.
-wow, Hurricane Gokai-oh was pretty cool
-Next week its time for the "once a season" body switch episode!!

See, why can't they do all the crossovers like this ^^? That was really great. And some of the best fight scene choreography we've seen in the show for a while\

You know, going by the design of the ghost ship in those trailers, and what Gokai-oh is shown fighting, I would guess that the "ghost ship" is like their own gokai galleon from an alternate timeline or something.

I loved the part where Hurricane Red kicked the dude and was slicing him up while Marvelous attacked. That was freakin' awesome.

Also technically there were no remaining Hurricanegers. :p Remember that the other two were not Hurricaneger, they were Gouraiger, and Shurikenger was his own thing. It's difficult to tell because of Ninja Storm, but in Hurricaneger, the Gouraiger were from a rival ninja school. The story of Shurikenger was that he was talented enough to become a Hurricaneger, but mysteriously vanished before he could become one.

So yeah. XD

I am so far behind in Gokeiger. Just watched episode 21. Which was awesome! I so need to watch Boukenger.

I am all caught up with OOO and I am glad the story has picked up a bit. It was really awesome to see Date again. I am looking forward to see how the series ends. Though it has definitely been a weaker series especially in comparison to W which was fantastic. I just watched the Accel movie and was reminded of just how awesome it was and how mediocre OOO is. I mean don't get me wrong I have enjoyed the show but it has been pretty mediocre for the most part.

I disagree that OOO has been a weaker series. I actually feel it's been stronger overall than W ever could be. W just seemed to be fairly static as far as character development. Shoutaro was half-boiled in the beginning and he was half-boiled in the end. That was why he was so perfect to be W. But it also meant he never grew or changed in the series. He was always strongly devoted to his partner and that was true even at the end.

There were also very few secrets kept hidden in W. It was laid out pretty strongly from the beginning "Hey, this guy is the bad guy, and he's distributing memories." The only real big reveals were Philip's condition (which didn't really change much) and Foundation X (which barely counts since it had no real affect on the story).

Compare this with OOO, where we can plainly see Eiji has grown throughout the course of the series. He was just a wandering hobo at the beginning with no desires to a man who thirsts for power and has become very dangerous as a result, on the verge of transforming into a monster. Ankh changed from someone who just wanted to get back his Core Medals and become whole, to someone who experienced what it's like to be a human and feel satisfied. There were also many things kept secret, such as why Ankh couldn't fully be resurrected (which was a plot point from the very first episode).

There were, admittedly, points where the show just kind of dragged its feet. But, that's true of EVERY series that needs to stretch itself out to fit an entire year. Stuff like Kabuto's "evil cooking battle" or how a heck of a lot of nothing happened before Weather Dopant, and between him and Xtreme. Still, as far as keeping the audience in suspense over what everything was building to, OOO vastly outperforms W. With W it was just "Okay what is going to happen in the next case that will get completely solved?" Whereas with OOO it was "When will we learn why Ankh can't be resurrected? Where are his Cores?" Stuff like that.

time for episode 27. the once a season body swap!

-such a cliche to have the bossy woman making the guy carry all the bags
-that monster is kind of cool
-yay, the new ninja mecha is added to the credits.
-Gai, your mixing languages ^^
-the changeman powers were super cool! Especially liked the blue ball attack
-lol, they didn;t realize they changed weapons
-Must say, Luka's actress is doing a great job of acting a "don". She's even got the facial expressions he does down.
-a last name!!!!
-Luka's being kind of hypocrit. she'll kill Don if he does anything with her body, but has no problem screwing around with his clothes and hair and stuff?
-hey, thats a pretty good plan. Another point for the evil empire.
-hahah, so they weren;t Yakuza afterall. I figured it would end up being something else
-yay, she learned her lesson
-sidenote, but its nice to see that they can actually morph while switched. some of the plotlines like this in the past preented them from being able to transform until they switched back.
-hahah, messed up the roll call. I was expecting that they'd end up switching poses
-Luka and Don's double team scenes were awesome both times. and that makes me wonder...are Luka's swords the only ones that can do that whip attack?
-isn;t it about time Silver's mecha got a new attack or upgrade?
-So is this the start of Luka/Don shipping?
-looks like next week will be...Jetman?

This was a really good episode. I always end up enjoying these body switch episodes, because they give a lot of chances for hilarity and character development. In a live action show like this is also fun to see the actors have to switch roles and act different from their normal character. Action was also well done today. Luka came off as a bit of a jerk at first in how she treated the situation, but that ended up being part of the development.

I was just surprised and a bit disappointed that they actually pulled out the "correct" keys for morphing. I was hoping Luka in Don's body would pull out yellow and Don in Luka's body would pull out green. But the whole "messing up the roll call" joke worked too. I also thought it was pretty funny how Don kept pulling the skirt up when he was in Luka's body so he could fight better. Too bad the suit actor for Gokai Yellow is male. :l

And YES next week looks to be Jetman and looks like we're getting another "They're actually going to transform and help fight" type episode so this should be freaking AWESOME. Jetman is widely considered to be one of the best Super Sentai series ever made. I wonder if those download links I have for the fansubs still work...anyway, yeah, next week's episode looks like it's going to be pretty freaking amazing all around.

Maybe those belt things they wore just delivered them the correct keys automaticly.

anyway, 28!

-oooh, I like the atmosphere of this opening.
-um...he's supposed to be dead...
-yay, lets get the mecha fight out of the way first!
-Boba Fett fell in a vat of red paint it seems.
-oh, so those gun fire musket balls. makes sense
-hey, where is the window?!? it looks like they're in a parking garage floating in space.
-this guy is nuts. and small annoying nitpic, but I usually dislike it when villians in a show give *themselves* a handicap, or a weak point or whatever, to give their opponent "more of a chance" and then thats how the characters are able to win. I guess often it can be used as an example of a villain's pride being their downfall, but its still annoying, because it makes the heroes seem weak, since they are only able to win because their enemy weakened themselves on purpose, or wasn;t trying as hard as they could be.
-Bioman and maskman! cool. do they have those ultimate powers yet?
-and...he's letting them go. See again. So annoyes me when the villains aren;t really trying. He could have taken them in for the bounty right there!
-like that Gai mentions that the jetman were notable even among sentai. although...how does he link phoenix to jetman? just cause its a bird? there is another sentai team with an ACTUAL phoenix as a mecha, so why didn;t he think of them?
-oh, I take back by earlier comment. seems he let them go so that the bounties would go up. sneaky
-lol, the gold guy is the only one who will stand up to the hunter
-Dead guy on a motorcycle! ...Ghostrider?
-wait, I thought he took Luka's
-wait, WTH? why can;t Gai see other Gai? My only thought is its because Jetman has no 6th ranger
-wait a minute, disapearance? Is it not know what actually happened to other Gai? did they like cover it up or something? Seems like a weird thing to do.
-What is with this guy? attacking his own minion
-so who is that woman? is she anyone from Jetman or other series?
-classy sax playing. and lol, the bar is named "golden gate"
-the normal ending is back!!!
-next week. ABARANGER!!!!!! I can;t believe it!! Abaranger crossover!!! I am sooooo psyched. And I guess this confirms that Gokaisilver having those three powers doesn;t count for the main team having them too. And...is that Emi-pon in the background in that one scene. and...O_O_O_O *mind explodes* Abapink!?!?!?!?! I officially can;t wait till next week.

This was a pretty good episode. Great fights scenes, and an interesting character story for Marvelous, and I liked the great respect they showed to the Jetman team, and the way Yuki Gai handled the situation with telling them not to bother the other Jetman members, since they were all living their normal lives. The fight at the end where the used the jetman powers was really cool. And I guess the reason they had a robot fight to start off was because there is no Jetman power for the mechas. Should have oleft it out then. My only real complaint is that Yuki showing up out of the blue like that is a bit "deus ex machina" (literally in this case!).

They do not have the Maskman power, but they do have Bioman.

This episode shows Inoue is still capable of writing well, and is definitely some of his best work. This now confirms that Gai died at the end of Jetman, as it was never explicitly stated in the show itself, only in the manga (which is non-canon). Also, I do like how the last we see of Gai is when he's on the bench...a very, VERY nice callback to the end of Jetman (and some people even think it may be the same bench).

I'm a bit disappointed by the lack of Jetman theme though, and they never did explain why it is Gai couldn't see Yuki Gai...I'm going to assume, though, that it's because like you said, Jetman didn't have a sixth member and therefore Gai doesn't get the Jetman ultimate power.

As far as Abaranger and next week. Gai pretty much said explicitly at the start of a previous episode that they have the Abaranger, Timeranger, and Zyuranger powers. Remember that they already had the Boukenger power and they still did a Boukenger tribute episode. This seems like it'll be kinda the same thing.

yeah, thats true, but its weird that only Gai has used those powers so far. and the preview definitly shows them getting a new mecha upgrade, which seems to imply them unlocking a new power, unless its just an upgrade they already had that they never bothered to use till now.

"Abare abare abare makure Get up!
Abare abare tsukisusume!!!"

-Cgi snot. yuck.
-today's plan sounds like something out of sailor moon.
-O_O Gai is making comments about Ahim needing protecting when he's already seen her in action and knows she can kick butt?
-for some reason today's monster looks familier, as if it was based on the design of some previous monster. Can;t put my finger on it really.
-giant already! thats isn;t fair!
-wow, this monster has some good stratigy. and fighting in the cockpits is a nice nostalgic moment to some past series.
-Emi-pon!!!! and is that...Yukito? wow, with his hair like that I didn;t even recognize him.
-seriously, what is it with Japan and colds and fevers? I've never known anyone get a fever from having a cold. I've never had a fever with a cold. Yet, in anime and shows like this, a character gets a cold and suddenly they;re bed ridden, and treated like their on the verge of dying. Like that Snow episode of CCS.
-hahah, I knew I'd heard him somewhere. today's monster is played by Gluttony from FMA. also apparently did Artemis in Sailor Moon!
-hahah, Gai's reaction is the best ever.
-the monster is having trouble finding happy women? what? are its standards insanely high or something? it couldn;t just fly down and still the energy from some giggling school girl walking down the street?
-what. 4th wall break?
-um...why was it necissary to spin before shooting the monster?
-ok, now the show is suddenly turning into Cutey Honey.
-abareblue. and...someone I don;t know!!! LOL. poor Emi-pon.
-so how does Yukito know about Mikoto being the one to give the ultimate power to guy!?
-so the reason they didn't try using the abaranger keys on Gokaioh before was because of Ahim not having a key? Guess that makes sense. But what's their excuse for not trying timeranger or zyuranger?
-did she make that key herself, lol.
-hahah, the key worked. awwesome!
-yes, epic abaranger theme!
-great abaranger fight. great user of the weapons, and Gai using Mikoto's line was funny. Was dissapointed that Marvelous was the only one to use the "super dino mode" blade things though. I think the should have cut the final wave out in favor of a bit more Abaranger footage.
-ok...so they didn;t need the abapink key after all.
-the new upgrade isn;t that great. so they just graft the arms from the other mech onto gokaioh. *yawn* was kind of cool though that it uses similar finishing moves to the mech from abaranger.
-next week, looks like something to do with boxing. is this another crossover? if so, I am not familier with it.

Well, this episode was good looking at it just from the standpoint of a regular filler episode. the Monster was pretty cool and had some good fights, and it was fun to see Ahim "let loose" and pull all those costume changes in trying to get the monster's staff. But as a crossover...it was pretty dissapointing again. Yukito and Emiri seemed like not much more than an afterthough thrown in at the last minute, they didn;t have anything to do with the plot, they just show up out of nowhere to provide a deus ex machina. And the rangers really didn't think to ever try out the abaranger keys on gokiaoh before this point? The abapink joke was pretty funny, but it ultimately didn't add anything. Don;t get me wrong, I am glad that we at least GOT an abaranger crossover, but it was still very dissapointing

no comments on 29 Nate? on to episode 30!

-so a Liveman crossover today? I don;t really know anything about that team. should be interesting.
-I like that scientist guy's design. especially his head and that big claw.
-hahaha, Luka asked the little kids if they were in liveman. "is there some rule that kids can;t transform?" lol, I'm sure there are fans who wish there was that rule.
-yay, Ahim and Joe searching together!
-hey, his name is Joe too! Now it makes me wonder...are there any previous rangers named Luka, Ahim, or Don? Since we're doing it with Gai and Joe, maybe we should do it with the others too.
-YAY! Jou is actually fighting!
-Wow, Denji-pink is very very *light* pink. almost white.
-wow, that was a pretty good scene. Makes me curious to read up on Liveman.
-Gai just making random poses while the others talk tough cracked me up.
-YAY! Gold Mode is actually fighting, instead of going straight to the finisher. and I guess this gets him out of the way for the others to become Liveman
-Boomerangs!! freakin awesome!!! When I w3as a kid I made up my own 7th power rangers (for the original power rangers season) and his weapon was a boomerang. I didn;t know there was a ranger with that actual weapon.
-Joe's defeating the villain today was pretty awesome. loved how he just smacks those projectiles away,
-the liveman power was pretty cool. Didn;t expect it to be a fancy new upgrade, since we just got the ninja and abaranger upgrades so rescently. And that was a better than average mecha fight.
-and next week...UAOH!! I know what that means!. And Bascoe's back! Looks interesting. The plot line sounds like they may be getting multiple ultimate powers at once again.

I liked this episode a lot. Its nice to see the Barizog/Joe subplot come back after so long, and the scene of Jou telling Joe about his own struggles was pretty emotional. As a crossover it was good too, loved that Jou got to fight and that he played a role in forwarding Joe's character arc. Now I'm going to predict that somehow Joe will reawaken Cid's conciousness so that Barizog turns good again, even if he can;t return to his old body.

This episode...was fantastic. Like...unbelievably amazing.

You said you haven't seen Liveman, but I have. And the opening of Liveman (which is echoed in the ending song) is "Friends, why did you sell your souls to the devil?" Basically Liveman's friends betrayed them and killed two of their other friends to join an evil organization. So one of the themes of the show was them wanting to save their friends and bring them back.

I know that the creators of Gokaiger didn't make Barizorg simply to be a parallel to the Liveman situation, but the fact that it echoes what happened with Liveman beautifully, and was a big part of why this episode worked so unbelievably well. The scene with Joe and Jou was amazing, there's no other word for it, and like I said, having seen Liveman, it only was that much more fantastic to show how Jou felt and how he could really relate to what Joe was going through.

Oh and also? That part with the girl who opened her hands and the glowing butterflies flew out? That was a huge reference to the Liveman opening. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KvVEn07ijjo

Seeing Super Live Robo as the mecha power was pretty awesome too. So yeah. This episode? Thumbs up all around. Five stars. 10/10. It was fantastic.

episode 31!

-Wolzard fire!!! And Bascoe's back. Still as annoying as ever I see.
-Earth Defense Force? which groups is that?
-this suddenly makes me think...has it been revealed yet exactly WHY a robot bird is able to make predictions about where the ultimate powers will be??
-hahaha, thats certainly a good way to get their attention. Too bad all the teams couldn;t just do that,.
-yay, some actual intriguing plot!
-lol, she's treating them like slaves.
-have to say, she admitted to her desception a bit too quickly I think.
-I don't really get why they couldn;t just take the ohranger power from her and then go rescue ohred anyway.
-yah, extra ranger battle! and Silver used his combined go-onwings key again. YAAAAY a final wave that *isn;t* stock footage!
-yay ohranger! I love their weapons! especially Blue's. That was a cool fight scene. And I like the mech battle getting mixed in with the on foot stuff.
-the bazooka!!!! seriously awesome!! so nostalgic. And that makes me think...why don;t they do this more often. Kinda getting tired of the same stock footage "final wave" attack they use in gokaiger mode.
-arg! spoke too soon. there goes the Final Wave. *yawn*
-wait a minute!! Why didn;t they let Gai turn into Kingranger and join in on the Ohranger fight!? that sucks. Now we'll probably never get to see that ranger in action, since they seem to barely use the 6th ranger keys at all.
-wait, did they get them all this time? I hope so.
-red glowly aura. WTH!? Don;t tell me he has a ranger power too. is he secretly Akared or something? *waits* never mind, just turned into a monster. kind of dissapointing, I think I would have preffered to see Bascoe fight as a human.
-O_O. did he just freakin break his arm!?
-If he's really this strong, why didn;t he just do his own fighting from the beginning? I never really get that, when a super powerful character relies on henchmen and stuff to do his fighting for him, when he could easily end everything himself by going all out (see Frieza from DBZ for a good example)
-why can't bascoe just suck the Gokaiger's powers out of them?
-cool, a two parter!
-or maybe not...darn it. And looks like next week's episode isn't a crossover. though they are getting a new weapon. Yay! we'll have a new stock footage sequence to get tired of!

Well, this episode was pretty good. I liked the plot and how UAOH got proactive in trying to defeat Bascoe, and the action scenes were pretty cool. But I'm still dissapointed about no Kingranger, and it sucks that the storyline just kind of...stops, without being a two parter or anything. I would have expected next week's episode to be some epic team up between the pirates and UAOH to come up with a plan to take those three powers back from Bascoe, but it looks like next week is just going to be another standard Zangyack related storyline :(

Nate, I'm still curious to know what you thought about episode 29, since you didn;t comment that week.

Episode 32 time!

-yay, training montage!
-this episodes Character of the day will be played by Shinji Ikari
-Don's tie is distracting me
-wait, what the heck was that? random background event! Ahim was teasing Gai with the spoon, and then turned and fed it to Luka instead. Luka/Ahim shipping fandom created in three, two, one...
-I like the shield arms. But the question is, can this monster actually FIGHT? or is it just going to stand there and defelct attacks?
-ah, his new gun broke. Not unexpected though. it was a bit clunky with two key ports on it.
-monster's voice is familier. hey, its Docker from Macross 7! and Big the Cat!
-where do they keep those weapons anyway? Hammerspace?
-hey, where is Silver? shouldn;t he be fighting to buy Don time too?
-why don't they just transform into a sentai team that has weapons? Or is this supposed to imply that they can't use other sentai weapons without their own Gokai weapons as a base?
-ok...so in the end all he needed was the ohranger power to just create the new weapon for him?
-That was a pretty cool attack. Though I'm sure I'll get tired of it after they use it for the next 15 episodes in a row
-hey, is that Masaaki Endoh singing the insert song during the mech battle?
-next episode preview: is that Shinkengold?? And it looks like Dairanger will be getting a descent battle. yay!

This episode was really just ok. Not wild about the design of their new weapon. pretty predictable plotline too. Next week looks to be more interesting.

Gai's arm is broken or at least severely injured, hence why he wasn't fighting with the others. In fact it probably IS broken, considering the audible "crack" noise that happened when Basco grabbed him at the end of 31.

Also considering the Gokai Galleon went "RED CHARGE" during the attack, it gives me hope that there's different attacks for the other members depending on who gets put in the back slot (like a Blue Charge or something for Joe).

This was an okay episode. Nothing TOO special. The new weapon was cool though, but I really wish they'd given actual backstory on Don. The scene where he's talking to soccer kid implies that it was a flashback to something that happened in the past (perhaps right before he joined the crew). It's kind of annoying that Don is the only character that we literally know nothing about and we're over 30 episodes in.

But yup, Dairanger next week and there's a bit of confusion over who's starring in it. Some people say it's the kid who played Kibaranger all grown up, which would be really interesting and make a lot of sense. The preview had Gai say something like "The reason I wanted to become a hero was..." and it's well known that as a kid, the guy who plays Gai was a HUGE fan of Kibaranger, and to have Kibaranger be Gai's inspiration for wanting to become a hero would fit perfectly. But some have also said that it looks more like the guy who played Ryuuranger. So I dunno.

Ryuuranger?

I didn't recognize the guy fighting, but I thought it was possible Shinkengold since they look to be fighting near a sushi stand, and there was another scene in the preview showing the rangers in a revolving sushi restauraunt.

About Don; I read an entry on tvtropes where someone wrote that the writers of the show are intentionally leaving him with no backstory because they like the idea of him being the "abnormally average guy" in a gang of crazy pirates

Ryuuranger is the red Dairanger. But yeah guess we'll find out who it is in a few days. I'm really hoping it's the kid who played Kibaranger because it would fit in nicely with Gai's backstory as well as his real-life actor, and plus it'd be cool to see someone who was just a kid during the original as an adult.

However, Ryuuranger would be in keeping with mostly the reds coming back in the tribute episodes, plus he was in the 199 Heroes movie. So it could very well be him coming back, like how Bouken Red was in the movie and also the Boukenger episode.

And you can give someone backstory while keeping him average. So I don't buy that explanation.

Episode 33! Dairanger!!!

-someone give Gai some Ritalin! Or maybe Thorazine.
-the villian doesn;t want to eat his vegtables. just like a spoiled brat *eye roll*. and todays monster looks like that mucous one from Mystic Force/Magiranger. apparently played by Vice Principle Napoleon from GX. ooh, and Oolong from DB
-its going to eat the world's food supply. Now where have we seen that plot before?
-awesome slow motion Gaoranger moves,
-Eaten. Hahahah. But...how does dropping the cellular cause him to de-morph?
-so, its the red dairanger afterall, rather than Kibaranger. a bit dissapointing.
-don;t just stand there guys!
-hah, Ryo doing his team's pose was pretty cool. and it makes me wonder...is this the first time he;s actually been able to do the pose himself? cause they usually only do the team poses when transformed, so it would be suit actors, rather than the character actor.
-so why doesn;t he take on the sillouette of the pink or yellow rangers?
-great Dairanger battle. But then they have to end it so Silver can do his final wave :(.
-that was one of the better mecha fights we've had for a while. Nice clever finish to the monster
-next episode preview!: ooh, a Luka themed episode. And is that...Hikaru-Sensei!?!?!? well, seems like probably not, since he appears to be someone she knew from the past. But he looks exactly like him! And why would they cast a former ranger as a completely new character. And considering that we see Yellow and Silver fighting doubles in the preview...seems like maybe the monster is going to have disguise powers or something??

This was a pretty good episode. The story isn;t the most original, and very predictable, but its not told badly, and the scenes between Ryo and Gai were really touching. The unmorphed battle sequence between Gai and Ryo and the bad guys was really cool too, and we actually got a good mecah fight this time.

For a good while, but I can't remember since when, it's been tradition for the last episode of Super Sentai shows to have an out of suit roll call/pose. This is for a little bit of fun for the actors, as well as the fact that they've shot pretty much all the footage they'll need of them, so there isn't too much of a concern of the actor getting hurt and unable to do anything for a while. If you know much about Kamen Rider, you know that Hiroshi Fujioka did both the in and out of suit work for the first 13 episodes. However, he was injured while performing a stunt, which is why Kamen Rider 2 was written into the show, and from that point on, stunt actors were used for all in-suit scenes.

Also, what? Kirhiko is coming back from the dead from Fuuto to talk to Luka?

time for the next episode!!

-yeah, you turn money you found in to the police...but would anyone really bother to turn in a coin? unless thats actually worth a lot compared to our coins. I see a coin and I think like "less than a dollar" and no one would really bother to turn that in if they found it.
-she hit him~ thats not nice
-hahahaha, best way to win a fight ever!
-so cain is in league with the bad guys. they revealed that pretty early. shouldn't they save that twist for later?
-and yet another twist in quick suscession!
-do I sense some jealousy on Don's part?
-nice flashback. so now we know why she's obsessed with money
-wow, awesome plan! and I knew her eating the broccoli was going to be the tell
-that was a pretty fun battle. I wonder if this episode will serve for the mandatory "evil ranger" episode they always have every series.
-hahah, its like red light green light.
-next episode preview! Go-onger!!! And it looks like the plot will actually have something to do with the go-onger series, yay!!

This episode was really good, I liked it a lot. Got some great character development for Luka; finally getting to see the big picture behind why she joined the group, and the plot had a lot of twists coming right and left. Especially liked how the rangers were able to figure out that Luka was a fake. Plus both the on foot and mech battles were really fun.

I really liked the plan for revealing the fake Gai, and the episode overall was pretty fun. Oh and from the thread on /m/, I wasn't the only one who was thinking "Poochie" at the end of the episode.

"I have something to tell you, Luka. I have to go now. My planet needs me." NOTE: Cain died on the way back to his home planet.

But oh man, NEXT EPISODE. GO-ONGER. SOUSUKE. BOMPER. MECHALCON. BATTLE FEVER J. IT'S GOING TO BE AMAZING.

Lets Go-on!!!!

-wow that food looks yummy.
-so...what are the other 9 worlds? is "Dino-earth" from Abarangers one of them?
-love Sousuke's reaction to Gai
-Gunman world? wait a minute...
-lol, Sousuke is hilariously idiotic.
-western world! this is reminding me of that season 2 miniseries of power rangers where they went to the old west.
-conveniently getting silver out o the way so they can do a 5 person team. lol, reminds me of how the old power rangers always had an excuse for Tommy to be left out of the fights.
-Battle J Fever is the weirdest sentai team EVER! and changeman had a white and pink ranger, instead of yellow? interesting
-and Captain Marvelous is now Neo
-who plays the sheriff? his voice is familier, but I couldn;t find info on the wiki page.
-Dekaranger!!! Whooo!
-and that was a clever plan by the new villain
-next episode preview, More Go-onger. YAY! Must say that the go-onger mech upgrade looks kind of dumb though

So this was a really good episode, both as a normal episode and crossover. Sousuke brought a lot of humor to the episode, it had good action scenes, and some nice character moments between Sousuke and the gokaiger team. Also liked that the crossover features plot elements from go-onger, like the boukenger episode from before, and that this is going to be a two parter/
