1) 5cm Per Second. The art, the characters, the themes, the soundtrack, and the realistic emotions. [movie]
2) Lupin the Third: The Castle of Cagliostro. Pure fun. [movie]
3) Giant Robo. Superb story, awesome characters, and very high production values. I don't even like mecha generally, but I like this one. [ova]
4) Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Almost as good as the manga, and that is saying something. I don't fault it the first thirteen episodes given that they are covered more appropriately in the first series. [tv series]
5) Sword of the Stranger. Samurai action bliss. Very good looking movie (watch in blu-ray if possible) with the best animated sword fights I have ever seen. [movie]
6) Trust and Betrayal. Rurouni Kenshin is my nostalgia series, so I already love it more than I should. Trust and Betrayal took that beloved series and emphasized all of the dark, meaningful, and thought provoking aspects of it while giving it a thick veneer of high budget polish. [ova]
7) The Girl Who Leapt Through Time. Simple slice of life, done perfectly and with fine humor. Except it isn't simple. Nor is it just slice of life. [movie]
8) Durarara!!. Second half lacks compared with the first, but both have enough trope inversions and kick-rear characters to more than make up for it. [tv series]
9) Cowboy Bebop. Everybody likes this show for exactly the same reason: it is cool. Really, really cool. [tv series]
10) Cromartie High School. Anime comedy that manages to be hilarious without relying on a single otaku in-joke (although it does have a few, for older fans). (tv series)
What does this say about me? Well, it looks like I am a pretty boring guy; willing to give just about any genre a shot so long as it isn't overt or typical shoujo. Also, I seem to be impatient, judging by the average length of the series. So, yeah, a boring and impatient normal guy with a dislike for pointless romance or drama without a reason.
