(all great artwork too btw!) :thumb:
Ah My Goddess- just lighthearted good fun
Tokyo Mew Mew- just fun and funny and innocent
Angelic Layer- fun and good lessons (don't give up)
Trigun- good makes you think anime with good lessons
. . .can't think of anymore at the moment . . . .

Actually, no. This thread is not for the bad anime; there is another thread for that.

Besides, you didn't give a single reason as to why we're supposed to avoid any of them. But that's for another thread anyhow.

I just saw the first three episodes of FFU and personally I think its hilarious and enjoyable, with enough outside humor that a non FF player would enjoy it but rnough FF references (Chocobo music :thumb:  ) to make it fun for FF fans! Very clean too...so far and really good graphics.

Well, frankly, if that's the best reason you have, then we'd better move a whole lot more titles to the bad anime thread.

But anyway...back on topic. No more talking about bad anime. Good anime only please.

Fruits Basket is *great*. Gypsy has a review on the series around here somewhere, but I'll summarize; the only dodgy points are a fair bit of medium-level expletives (almost entirely from one character), some question of being gay between a couple of characters, and a small amount of violence. On the whole, the series is fairly clean, and the plots are creative and fun. The character of Tooru Honda is a particularly nice one, and while she has her faults, she lends a very crisp, clear perspective on everything in the show and her attitude to all that happens to her is uniformly outstanding.

Well here are some of my fav animes
Cyborg 009 from what i have seen on CN it is very clean not very violent or anything
Cowboy Bebop I have seen DVDs 4 and 6 they were fairly violent(Maybe PG-13) and had some fanservice and language. The other DVDs contain some non explicit
Trigun My favorite anime. It is the best!!!!!!!!!!! Some mild language, mature themes and some violence make this probably another pg13
.hack//sign (DVDs 1&2) Some partial at the begining and in the opening end song there is the outline of a body done in a ual manner. No cussing and very mild violence

Knives, you post why those series are *bad* but you don't post why they're good. My "fav" is not good enough justification. Did you like the characters? Do you like the artwork? Are the moral topics appropriate for Christians? Are the plots well-written?

This thread *really* needs to be kept on topic. Please, people, keep in mind why this thread exists. It's not a favourites thread, and it's not a "bad-anime" thread. Choices need to be justified and explained, and that means serious posts ONLY. Let's make this thread useful!

I don't see why javaman recommended those titles either. :eyebrow:

Although I can't comment on the Blue Gender DVDs (I've only seen the Cartoon Network Adult Swim showings), are you sure you're talking about the right anime? I've never heard Blue Gender referred to as anything remotely hentai before--there are a few other series that sound similar that are hentai, though. I think La Blue Girl, for example. At the least, if you can catch the Adult Swim showings of Blue Gender, there is next to no nudity, and nothing that could be called hentai. It is, however, very gory--and don't get too attached to any characters besides the main two. The kill count on this show is astronomical.

Back on topic, though. Anime I'd recommend: Inuyasha (great storyline, interesting characters), Cowboy Bebop (very depressing, but great music and good plot--plenty of martial arts action), Rurouni Kenshin TV series (romantic comedy with a lot of action)and Big O (the intro theme song sucks, but the ending theme song is good, and the storyline is very mysterious, leaving you hanging for the next episode).

Stop the Blue Gender already. I've seen the whole thing uncut and it's a good sci-fi, but deserves an R for sexual content and gore. It's inappropriate and shouldn't be here in Good Anime.

I'll get back on topic:^^

I think Scrapped Princess is great. It's not very violent, no sex, and I don't remember any language. It's just a really good story. Inuyasha, I agree it's a really good story if you don't mind the half-demon Inuyasha or the brutal fights at times. Those are two of my more favorite animes.

No problem.

Another good anime is Noir. They don't even show blood. One of the characters goes a little psycho at the end; but, no big. It did make me consider changing my name... but, I like the name chloe too much. LOL Also, chloe is in the Bible (I Cor. 1:11) *hehe*

So R rated anime isn't good, even though you just said it's good?

Shouldn't this thread be changed to "Good anime for people under 17" then?

Hey, I think Ninja Scroll is good. Good for people old enough to watch it.

It did in a thread where we're trying to point out anime that everyone can enjoy, which was the point of this thread from the beginning.

The name of the thread is fine the way it is, and t_n_c's statement is absolutely correct given its intentions.

Thanks Shoo. Yes, I was referring to the comments at the beginning of the thread by Brian C.

>>This is a thread to talk about shows that are good to recommend to others.<<

And also comments strewn throughout by mods. I was also referring to Gypsy's comment from November:

>>When we say good anime, we mean basically clean anime.<<

I'm sorry for the confusion if I caused any. I didn't view BG as clean in any way, only as a good sci-fi.

I agree. What I've seen of Noir was really good, but I've only seen the first five episodes or so. Does the pace pick up or generally stay about the same? I was fascinated by Kirika. She seemed so desolate and isolated, and has one of the best shots I've seen. I also liked that they didn't show blood, because if they would have, some of the violence would have been quite graphic, but since it doesn't show blood, it is toned down. The only way I have access to seeing it is if I rent them, and only the first DVD is at the local movie rental. I don't want to buy it without seeing it first. Oh the sadness of being an anime fan in a world that isn't quite as enthusiastic about it (generally, of course). So good recommendation, true noir chloe.

The pace pretty much stays the same throughout Noir except for the last disc, when every thing comes to an end. I enjoyed watching the show immensely only because it delved deeply into the personal relationship and friendship that grew between Kirika and Miriel. I like character studies and I thought they did a good job on this anime in the character growth and development. Some people have claimed this had a gay theme; but, I would suggest at the end what is really going on is jealousy over not having something you thought you deserved. Or, possibly the loss of a best friend to another friend. I really don't want to spoil the end, but it is worth watching the entire show. No one dies that you like and I always appreciate when they don't kill my favorite characters off. Also, there was definitely a hint that they could do another series based on the characters.

anime listings I have seen put Ninja Scroll in the hentai section

and it's just me, but I wouldnt suggest an anime unless I had seen the whole series. You never know when the episodes will turn horrible. Angel Sanctuary for example....:eyebrow:

- Frank Capra

(in response to an interview question "Do you have a pet peeve having to do with this biz?")
People who write below their abilities in order to crank out tons of books and make a buck. Especially Christian authors who do that. Outsiders judge us for it, and make fun of us for it, and it makes Jesus look bad. We of all artists on earth should be the most concerned with doing our best possible work at all times. We of all people should write with all our hearts, as if writing for the Lord and not for men.
