Well, it sort of depends. XD If we're talking only fan off-line...then that goes for about half the anime I watch (Rurouni Kenshin wasn't even well known). 
Online, the least-known I can think of is probably Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha. Other than that though, the other anime I'm interested in were introduced to me in some way or another by someone, or were very popular before I knew of their popularity.

Kikaider was okay...the ending theme was great. *hums the Theme of Gemini* The OVA was bad, as well as the ending theme.
