well...since my comp shut down on me while I was typing my replies up...to whoever said that yugioh was overrrated.....I will not say a word....*biting tongue*
and to whoever said the yugioh version we have over here....I can slightly agree...the Japanese is defintely much much better.
DBZ....eh...so so...
I liked Hellsing...but then....I just adore vampires so...heh heh.
I can't think of any series that I thought were over rated cause I havn;t really seen many.

You should always check out a series before spending a lot of money

Depending on what you mean by checking it out, that *could* be called piracy...

I wouldn't put Naruto on my list, but I feel I should mention that while I think it is a high quality show with many good things going for it, I am a bit annoyed with some extreme fans of the series.

You think that is bad. Go to an anime con that is full of them. Everytime there was a AMV about Naruto, people yelled! Its a Naruto AVM and cheer. And all I could think was, yes it is, because I'm watching it right now in the same room that you are in. Thank you for pointing this out to me, because I wouldn't have guess that it was AMV about Naruto at the time.

Even I like Wolf's Rain, Gundam Wing and I think they are a bit overated.

Even from my love that I have for Escaflowne and still can get on this list too. I don't agree with some people think think its the best anime of series of the 90's.

I think there are a lot of anime that are good, but not worth the hubbub. When we had the big argument a while back about Anime Insider's top all time anime, I was struck by the fact that there was very little there that was unique. Good, perhaps but not classic.

Akira, by far, it was the first dubbed anime to coem to america I believe, so it was a big deal for some people, but it is overated.

I'm not sure if you were replying to what I said. But anyway, I agree with you on that. I try to not listen to the hype about anime and read reviews from here and watch them to see if they are good or not. I know we all have our likes and dislikes and we just have to understand why we like them or don't like them without going overboard about it.

I loved the One Piece manga, but I cried when I saw the anime (even the subbed versions). It was sooooo terrible T.T

I think DBZ and SD Gundam are over-rated.

Did SD Gundam have good ratings? I can't imagine how anyone would like that show... I'm sorry if I insult anyone...

I was *SO* disappointed to find out that SD Gundam was not the old OVA series from Japan.

What was SD supposed to stand for, Super Defenders? Super Dinky/Deformed? Sometimes I'd watch the show just to bug my mom, but I think Dora the Explorer works better ^_^;;; (yes, that was a bit off topic)

Well, originally, it just stood for Super Deformed. I think the current crop has something like "Super Defender" attached to it.

The original SD Gundam was a bunch of parody shorts based on the early Gundam stuff/characters. A lot of it didn't make any sense...

Heh seems the more popular something becomes, the more it becomes "over rated." So much hate. lol

I like Bleach, Cowboy Bebop, InuYasha, Pokemon, enjoyed the first episode of Fooly Cooly, Naruto, Dragon Ball, SD Gundam (They were kind of cute)... ^_^;;;

Love Hina is definatly over rated. I mean it does have some good sides to it, but I think we all know the reason why there are almost naked good looking women featured in it. Come to think of it, I don't know of a lot of titles that are over rated. Maybe I am fortunate enough to read up on a series before spending $120.

I think that this only makes sense, actually. The more popular a series becomes, the higher it is rated. Assuming that the "true rating" (a subjective characteristic) of an anime remains the same, as it becomes more popular the chance that is over-rated will steadily increase. Even an anime that was far superior to every previous anime could be over-rated if its fans were even more enthusiastic about it.

SD officially stands for "Superior Defenders." Personally, I do not take the show at all seriously.

I would also like to add FLCL, Escaflowne the movie and Gundam Wing to my list of over-rated titles.

Though, I'll probably be one of the few who will defend DBZ. :P As corney has it is, I can't help but love it. I grew up watching it and it's still a classic in my heart. Before airing on Cartoon Network, I remember watching it every saturday morning at 6am on Kids WB. It was way before many knew the show. They started in the middle of the Namik saga so I never knew what was going on... but it was fun to watch.

Overall the action is good and the story is decent. I have to say that Krillian is the man! Actually, for most of the series Krillian is the comic relief. Then later, it's Hercule. But yeah, can't help but love it :P

Inuyasha is very overrated, especially at my old highschool. The anime club only played that show >__<. I also think that Spirited Away is a little overrated.
