UN-GO is a pretty great return to form for BONES after a couple lackluster shows and is a very enjoyable show that I continue to enjoy every week, but Penguindrum is my favorite show of the year and outclasses most of the other shows in even this tourney in pretty muchy every way.

Also Steins;Gate lost, Rider is pleased to have destroyed lesser things.

Penguindrum is pretty good, even if it is a tad too abstract at points.

So...Steins;Gate lost to one season of a show.

Actually, I do have minor issues with this myself. Not that I think Fate/Zero is going to implode in on itself in the second half or anything, but I am more comfortable comparing finished series.

Admittedly, I haven't seen UN-GO. But I doubt I'd enjoy even the best mystery more than... whatever Penguindrum can be categorized as. Penguindrum is wacky, abstract, hilarious and interesting, and people more intelligent than I have already stated why it's also just plain fantastic.

<まどまぎ> More daring in several different areas than most anime, the subversion of the stale, predictable and repetitive Magical Girl genre makes it the most surprising thing to have come in years. It is for the MG genre, what Eva was for the Mecha genre, IMHO.

You can vote for Puella Magi Madoka Magica. While Unicorn Is AMAZING. It is not on the same level as Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Madoka Magica is one of only two anime I have seen in which I had no idea what was going to happen the next second [The only other one is Penguindrum]. I voted for Unicorn because it deserves one vote because of how well it is created. [If this is the last in the UC, then it is a magnificent ending to a saga]

The combination of Shinbo, Aoki Ume, Kajiura, and Urobuchi outweighs anything UC Gundam can bring to the table. Also let it be known that I've voted for Gundam UC every single time.

I would vote for Madoka Magica, having seen it and enjoyed it, but I'm not sure I want it to win. It lacks a bit in the characters, they're a bit flat. However, the music was amazing.
Unless I come to a decision before this round ends, I'll skip it due to my indecisiveness.

There's actually a pretty interesting discussion to be had here, which is that all we've been doing so far is narrowing down the field two by two and saying anime x is better than anime y, but, you know, which anime are actual contenders?

For me (as in, if I skipped this tournament and just declared a best anime by fiat), there are only three that make the cut: Madoka, Penguindrum, and Disappearance. Out of those three, it'd really be a fight between Madoka and Penguindrum (pending its conclusion), but Disappearance made it just because it's so good.

It's about more than if your favorite anime will win or lose, it's about feeling the love for it, making the choice to vote AND VOTING FOR IT WITH ALL THE EARNESTNESS AND SINCERITY YOU CAN MUSTER!
