I forget the name of it...but it was a very long one-episode. (45 minutes to an hour, maybe?)

Definitely Dragon Half. Unless you want a series that actually reached a climactic conclusion and didn't just end, in which case it would be FLCL.

A good one. Genshiken is great because it takes a humorous, close-up look at all aspects of the Otaku subculture. It's one of my favorite manga as well. *grumbles about volume 9 not being out yet*
