Also, FMA is good, but the anime (I hear) kinda veers off like crazy in the second half. Stick to the manga.
Yeah, FMA gets real dark and starts to bash religion a bit. I havn't finshed the manga, so I dn't really know how that one turns out, but the anime is one cartoon I've been starting to avoid.
