Were you surprised that CN aired Princess Mononoke during Toonami?

After the "Warriors of the Wind" fiasco, I can't say that I blame him.

I'm kinda torn on the issue...

On one hand, I'm a big fan of Miyazaki, so I'm thrilled that they've been showing his movies. I also really like Princess Mononoke. And I totally understand Miyazaki's feelings about edits after 'Warriors of the Wind'.

On the other hand, I do agree that the movie is a little TOO intense to be shown on Toonami. I'm not sure what else they could've shown in its place, though, that would fit with the theme. Maybe Kiki's Delivery Service (if I'm remembering right, they didn't show that one, right?), although it wouldn't match with the action part of toonami. The Cat Returns would work for that, except that it's not directed by Miyazaki like the other films are, so that would probably appear weird. XD

That because Disney still has the rights to air Kiki's Delivery Service. It pops up every now and then on the Disney Channel.

That was the same reason why it didn't air on TCM.

IMHO, if I ran Toonami, I would've run Porco Rosso instead. It's not nearly as apt to raise as many eyebrows and it's still reasonably action-packed.

Ooh, I wasn't thinking of that at all. There goes the Kiki idea, then.

That would *maybe* work, but Porco Rosso is generally considered a more 'adult' movie than most of Miyazaki's film--not because of objectional content, but because of the story itself. I don't think kids would 'get' it, and they'd probably be really bored with it after a while.

But you have to remember Toonami probably acquired all four films as part of a package so they had no other choice but to show Princess Mononoke along with the others.
