Ha ha, I'm guessing you're going to get a looooot of different answers about this one, but I'll tell you my opinion for whatever it's worth.
Usually, I don't mind a fictional story containing such things as ghosts or demons or angels to a certain degree. After all, from the way I look at it, if it's not written by a Christian then I can't exactly expect any better, and so I just enjoy the fiction and don't take it too seriously. However, I sometimes think it goes too far, and gets to the point where it's glorifying demonic things in a less than light-hearted way. It's when it gets seriously dark and demon-glorifying that I jump off the boat, ha ha. I can't say what I think of Zatch Bell though, because I've never read it, I actually got on this thread to see if you all thought it would be OK for a twelve year-old brother of mine to read. . . but then I got distracted when I read your post
. So, back to my main reason for getting on here: Is it OK for a twelve year-old? Please, if you have any reservations, I'd like to know them. I want to be well-informed before I let him get into something, so that I don't regret it. Thankies!
Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.
Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.
Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight;
Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight;
Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my high Tower:
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.
Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.
High King of Heaven, my victory won,
May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.
