I've seen a few episodes of it...the art is very similar to the manga from what I've seen (which is a plus for me cuz I like Takahashi's character designs).

I also enjoyed the Rayearth Manga...it was kind of scenic but shows true friendship and the power of love and friendship, it's pretty good actually. And the Rurouni Kenshin saga is pretty cool, Reflection (Rurouni K. movie 2 I think...) kind of goes off from the series...it's pretty sad actually, but I won't give it away!

My goodness, for someone who's seen at least 250+ different anime titles, it's kind of hard to boil things down to a top 3 list without tossing a LOT of great titles by the wayside...

...but there are 3 absolutely wonderful titles that do make the cut, and are my immediate recommendations for ANYONE'S to-watch list:

My All-Time Favorite Anime Serials (TV/OVA):

1) Kimagure Orange Road (Whimsical Orange Road) (49 TV eps, 6 OVAs, 1 Movie - and at least 1 OVA and newer movie, Shin Kimagure Orange Road which I have not seen yet)

2) Hajime No Ippo: The Fighting (This one just took the #2 spot last week) (75 TV episodes, plus 1 Movie)

And a three-way tie for third (or they're too close for me to figure out which is slightly ahead so far):

3) Yawara: A Fashionable Judo Girl (124 TV Episodes - though 39 are currently fansubbed, 1 Movie Special)
3) Hikaru no Go (75 TV Episodes, 2 specials)
3) Great Teacher Onizuka (52 TV episodes and an unknown number of live-action episodes)

My All-Time Favorite Movie Features:

Hmm... just for fun (and I am making this last hour seem like I have no life), I compiled a 'mostly un-scientific' list of the top 10 anime, by the following categories: Series/OVA, Movie, and Manga.

Method: I took each title and listed it by its declared category (or moved it to the appropriate category when self-evident), then took a score based on its ranking (1st=3 points, 2nd=2 points, 3rd=1 point), and also tallied the number of times this title was mentioned. 4th place (or later) declarations were ignored. Ties were placed as multiple declarations at stated ranking. If rankings were not explicitly stated in the post, then they were implied by the order in which the title was mentioned.

Any obscure title reference was assumed to be of the category declared (eg: Kenshin, if listed under 'series' is assumed to be the TV version). For easier compilation, I merged all series/OVA nominations. A couple favorites were ignored due to uninterpable typographic errors (Conin?) and/or Title ambiguities (Kenshin movie?).

This is by no means an authoritative measurement of the official CAA favorite list. Perhaps a moderator or admin should put together a poll for that purpose (of that does happen, I'd at least ask for a 1-10 like scale for titles instead of a top-3 fav list). ;2)

Anyways, on to the list...{ed: I see that my nicely formatted text column spacing wasn't preserved - working on this...}

In any case, I don't know if I'm in this thread, but my faves tend to change, and I tend to remember different things at different times, so this may be different than last time! My current faves:

2. Macross Plus (I liked the movie version, it was scored better than the OVA's (scored means the music fit better)... If you want to watch Macross Plus, I'd watch the subbed movie first, then either the subbed or dubbed OVA's... The sub is more serious and a bit more emotional, the dub is funnier)

I'm an interbie at manga, but here goes:

1. Kodomo no Omocha (I also love the TV show, though the TV show is a bit too slapstick at times...)

Those were the only manga that I stuck with and followed... I have read sailormoon mixx manga, evangelion manga, pokemon manga, some nadesico manga (I don't like Kia Asamia's art...) as well as a skimming of the akira manga, but none really kept me reading like those two... Oh, and I also read 1 TPB for "Love Hina" and it was worse fanservice wise than the show! Same with Chobits, but I couldn't handle Tokyopop's version anyhow because of how much they fudged the dialogue (all the 'F' words in it...) and the fact they changed sumomo's name... Oh, and I read some of GTO, but I didn't like it... I didn't get very far in it. I had a lot of other manga to try, and KnO and Marmelade boy were the only ones that caught my interest (actually, wanted to try mars, but never got a chance to)

oh, and OVA's??? Well, I'm haven't seen many... I've seen Tenchi, Ah my Goddess, the Macross Plus OVA's (like I said, I prefer the movie version, but I say you should watch both) and armitage. Nothing spectacular I want to point out... Oh, and "Final Fantasy: Legend of the Crystals" which was pretty bad... And I saw the Gekigengar OVA, which was not worth seeing... Mostly stuff from the Nadesico show, not much added... Oh, and I saw the Chrono Trigger OVA which was pretty funny, but not spectacular.

I sure my list would be quite different had I watched more anime series, but as it is my faves are:

3. Pilot Candidate
I liked Mononoke Hime. I didn't quite "get" Metropolis...and My Neighbor Totoro was a little too slow paced for me, although my sister really liked it.
