Thanks Osaka-chan. Wow, what about xxx holic appeals to you? I don't think I have ever met a really big xxx holic fan (then again i have not met many fans outside of here)? Just thought I'd open up some discussion about a CLAMP manga. Oh by the way, there is a xxx holic movie?

Oh, where to start. . .

Well, I'll start by saying that I don't really KNOW why. But I'll try my best to convey what I think makes it so enjoyable to me.

Well, Yuuko is probably the biggest reason I like that series. There are moments when she makes those really deep statement and I just have to sit there for a second and think about what she said. Thre aren't that many manga where you have to read a statement twice just to digest it. Furthermore, even when I can't agree with Yuuko, I really enjoy thinking through the reasons why I don't agree with her. That's probably the aspect of xxxHolic that really draws me to it.

About the movie: there isn't a movie yet, but there will be. It's in production and I believe it's tenatively slated to be released sometime at the end of this year. After digging around a bit, it seems that it's being produced by I.G. Productions. Atleast, I think was the studio. . . *goes to double check.*

Oooooh, very nice! I like it alot!

Where do I get my pictures. . . hmm. Well, most of them I get by searching on google for them. I generally go to www.google.com and type in something like "CLAMP gallery" and then search it. You can generally find alot of stuff that way. You can also use the "image search" option on google, but that can turn up some :eyebrow: shall we say-- not so family friendly material.

You could give that a spin.

Now, about imageshack: I'll send you new instructions. I just went over to image shack to make sure it was working, and I had no problem so there must just be something defective about my instructions. *hits self* DARN IT, SELF! GET IT TOGETHER!"

Lastly, a little note about general CAA posting. We generally try not to have two posts by the same person one after another. Posting two posts in a row is called "double posting." Now, don't even worry about it, 'cause you didn't know. It's just one of those things most people do until someone tells them not to. So, really, don't stress about it, k?

And lastly on tonights agenda-- PICTURES!! And not just any pictures, these are super awesome calendar pictures. Ooo, they make me all happy. . .

Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. *waves hand* I'm a big XXXholic fan too!!! I think The whole series is very interesting. Yuuko is very amsuing most of the time. It's funny how she orders Watanuki around a lot. Watanuki is also a cool character, he kind of reminds me of Keitaro from Love Hina, but a little less of a loser. It would be really amsuing then if Yuji Ueda ended up being his voice actor, since he plays Keitaro too. And I love spotting all the little refrences to other CLAMP series. Did anyone else notice in volume 4 where exactly Watanuki lives?? I was surprised ^^. I also get the feeling that something big and important might be brewing in this series. That scene in volume 2 where Yuuko mentions Clow Reed seems to be foreshadowing something.

Definitely, there must be more of the Tsubasa/xxxholic crossover, some major scenes, especially when the tsubasa character find out their real enemy. It's either that, or maybe the Sakura from another CLAMP universe, like CCS, the one where Clow Reed actually appears. Yuuko definitely had a history with him, something mayber we'll find out later.
Though I'm kinda dissappointed in the second episode of Tsubasa, they didn't go with the original story line and left out some characters....>_< I hope they'll stick more with it later on, because it just seems weird...>_>
As for xxxHolic, I really like the series, and Watanuki is halarious, always getting upset over the smallest things, and Yuuko bossing him around all the time. Even Mokona (the black one) bosses him around sometimes. XD It's just so cute! I love the series, but personally I'm more into Tsubasa, I love to see the crossovers with the other CLAMP worlds. ^__^

grrrr. It was actully volume 3 where Yuuko made the creepy foreshadowing Clow refrence. But volume 2 had it's own little refrence that made me want to jump up and down ^_^

Yuuko: So what your saying is "The'yre sure to be alright?" (laughs) Those words are a terrible curse.

Yay for obscure CCS refrences!!! I can't wait to go farther in both Tsubasa and XXXHolic. It's moments like these that give me the sense that CLAMP is working towards some huge finale, that the connections and crossovers between series are there for more than just simple thrills. I think something big might be brewing, something that will intwine all of CLAMP's previous stories (or at the very least CCS and X) with Tsubasa and XXXHolics.

Another fun XXXHolic quote! ^_^

Watanuki: (holding Black Mokona) This THING drinks too??
Yuuko: Not "thing". Mokona!!

Hey Osaka-chan: NO FAIR :( (just kidding) I did the google search and you posted two of the pics i found and could not get to work. *sigh* oh well.

Also i agree that there is going to be a VERY VERY big connection. That's a major part to why i'm very interested. Also, does Clow every actually appear in CCS or any other CLAMP manga? Because (and i'm 99% sure i'm wrong but) i get the creepy feeling that the guy in Tsubasa that is watching Sayoran and Sakura and claims that the power to cross demensions will be his: i for some reason can't seem to stop myself thinking "is that Clow?". That may seem stupid...especially if he appears in CCS (which if he does dont tell me the story, i'm reading CCS for the first time; finished the fourth one of the first season)

Why do i think that you may ask? Well, really i don't have much of a reason: just one thing that yuuko said. I don't remember the exact line, but i seem to recall that yuuko thinks that he is whatever she would call evil (i think she does not believe in evil, but she seems to strongly dislike him, like when they made the mokonas that it was something rare for them to work on the same thing) the mokonas are the other reason: he helped make them: for what reason? For good, or for his own purposes?

I know I've made a total fool of myself if he appears somewhere in another manga or I've forgotten something (i sold all my xxx holics), but at least someone can correct me and end this weird feeling in me that that is him.

Now, for some discussion on Tsubasa. Vol 5 comes out in 4 days! However, I love story telling (thats one reason why i like manga besides the art). I was thinking about what was behind the children's dissappearance. I thought and thought and i think its the doctor. Why? (you all are about to see how weird my mind works)

Let's see. He is the only one who friendly greets the visitors. He has helped the people not get evicted by the land-lord( i think i need to double check). The night that seven children dissappeared he went on rounds to visit them, and based on the pic, at least on of them was one he visited. Also no one knows magic, but he is a doctor, which is the next closest cause a doctor could drug the children and that would leave no struggle (maybe he gives them a drug that makes them see things that aren't there? that may be why Sakura saw the Princess - the doctor could have spiked a drink or something (i really should not think this hard on things)). The book he tells Sayoran and the group about is the one with pages missing; he didnt say there were two. Also the pages were missing so that no one would noticed - someone calculating did that. And lastly, when they get near the castle in the preview of volume five; he looks worried and a little guilty ( to me anyway).

I know my theory has MANY flaws. The biggest is motive: why? That alone would stop me from thinking him, except he is the only one with oppurtunity (visits) and ability (medicine) that i can think of. Next biggest problem - why can Mokona not sense the feather? Those are the two biggest flaws. Any one else have a theory?

I at first thought the land-lord ( he wants the visitors gone and he seems rather unpleasant) but then, with no one knowing he is looking, he goes to the castle and tries to find a way in and can't find it. Looks like he was looking for the children and is worried just maybe he's a little unsociable and irritable.

^_^. Good theory, but the weirdo guy who wishes to pocess dimension crossing abilities is definitly not Clow. If you get farther into CCS you'll see what Clow really looks like and find out where he is and what he's been up to. I don't want to say anything more because it would probably include major spoilers for the plot of CCS. And I think Yuuko specificly stated in XXX volume 2 that they made the mokona's to help Syaoran-tachi cross dimensions.

Beautiful pics, Osaka-chan! Such pretty pics of Sakura-chan, post more please if you find them! ^___^

Rocketshipper beat me to it on Clow. But I too have wondered who that guy is, and who the girl with him is. Is the girl merely an accomplice, or is she perhaps more powerful or important than he? I keep trying to think of who they might be from a particular series, but no one springs to mind. But if they bridge together several CLAMP series in Tsubasa and XXX, perhaps they are a force outside any particular previous series altogether, some entirely new force.

I'm much more a Tsubasa fan than XXXHolic fan, in fact I've only read the first volume of XXX, although I just bought the second and plan to read it soon. Several reasons, one big one being that I'm such a huge Sakura fan, and she's more central to Tsubasa than XXXHolic. I also enjoy the dimension-hopping and visiting of other worlds in Tsubasa. And finally, in almost all cases, the more realistic a story is the less I get into it, the more fantastic the more I love it! Except for the dimension-hopping, one could easily imagine XXX happening in the real world with just a little stretch, while Tsubasa is much more grand in scale and fantasy-oriented, with other wordls and ancient kingdoms and the like. At least from the one volume of XXX and 4 volumes of Tsubasa I've read, it seems that way. I'll let you all know if my opinion changes after volume 2 of XXX, but I anticipate Tsubasa remaining my favorite of the two, and one of my all-time favorite CLAMP manga (and manga in general), for a long time to come.

^__^ That would be cool, and I'd love to own it if they do! XD
In the Tsubasa manga, the person that watches Sakura and Syaroan's adventures seems to be the main evil there, but if you noticed, the person inside the containment with symbols and markings all over his body, and floating, seems to be the source of his power, I wonder if that has a connection to the xxxholic character or Clow himself.
I can't wait to find out more though! ^__^

I thought episode three was pretty good. I liked the fight between Kurugane and the giant Crab kudan, and the flashback to when he was banished from his own world. Was the spell that Tomoyo put on Kurugane there in the manga?? I'll have to check when I get home. I also liked how he spotted the Tomoyo of their current world and went after her.

Yeah, I think he definitly likes her. It's cute ^^

Anyone else got Tsubasa volume 5 yet?? I got it the other day. Fai looks kind of freaky on the cover. Anyway, the conclusion to the current world with the disappearing children was exciting, and the new world is really cool.
I like how they can get jobs to earn money, it's like Arc the lad 2. The receptionist at the desk was Blanche from Angelic Layer, and if you look closely you can see Tamayo in one shot ^^. Also, Yuzu-chan and Kusanagi!!! *fanboy squeal* YAY for Kusanagi/Yuzuriha shipping! They are super cute!.
A secret of Syaoran's is revealed!! It really surprised me. I loved all the flashbacks. I can't wait for XXXholic volume 5 and Tsubasa 6.

I haven't gotten volume 5 yet but I will soon! Thanks for putting it in a spoiler box, Rocketshipper.

Tomoyo does put a curse on Kurogane in the manga when she sends him off to another world. She says, "A curse. From this moment on, unnecessary death will be forbidden to you. For each person you kill, your strength will lessen."

And the guy in the water with symbols on him is referred to by Fai as King Ashura, I'm pretty sure. Then in the back Vol. 1 has a note about Fai that he is"fleeing from Ashura, a variation of the main character of CLAMP's first series, RG Veda".

Has anyone picked up RG Veda? I just bought the first volume and have read a bit of it. Not too bad so far, but I prefer Tsubasa and others.

Yes, I definitely liked the whole thing better in the manga. Or atleast, I do thus far. It just felt more adult.

And concerning my use of this owrd "doinky. . ." Well, it's my own creation. :D It pretty much means childish, is a bad way.

But it was just a little bit doinky. Not doinky beyond saving.

I'm sure I'll give it a while longer.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

This is my first post in this thread in a long time.

Anyway, I just got the first Volume of Chobits. I believe it's from CLAMP and it seems to be pretty good so far. ^_^

It's definitely from CLAMP. It's an entertaining story that turns on itself several times. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

I enjoyed Chobits, but it wasn't my favorite.

The choice has been made. There's no looking back. I won't let up, back up, give up, or shut up. My focus clear. My path is straight. My God, reliable. I'm a disciple of Christ.

Gods plan is like the sun. its too big and bright to look at directly, and sometimes the rain clouds cover it, but sometimes the plan dapples through the clouds and we can see beautiful glimpses of what he has in store for us.

Chobits is one of the series that leads me to reject the notion that CLAMP only makes manga for girls. I think it is definitely more guy-oriented - mostly because I believe it is much more likely that a guy would identify with falling in love with a machine than a girl would.

Perhaps that's different in Japan.

Then there's Miyuki in Wonderland. But that's definitely fish of another color.

Not that I am reccomending it, and not that its CLAMP, but Zettai Kareshi is a manga where a girl falls in love with a robot.....

Happy Mother's Day all!

Here's the list of winners for the April Contest:

Rocketshipper

And here are the answers (I just took your responses since you did such a good job, Rocketshipper. Hope that's okay! ^___^):

Sakura/CLAMP Trivia Contest for April: Mokona! ^___^

1. In Tsubasa/XXXHolic, what colors are the two Mokonas? White and Black

2. In Magic Knight Rayearth, what is Mokona's favorite thing to say? Pu!!!

3. In Tsubasa/XXXHolic, who gives Mokona to our Shaoran, Sakura, and friends? Yuuko

4. In Magic Knight Rayearth, (Manga), where do the Magic Knights find Mokona? At Presia's place

5. In Tsubasa, what 2 main purposes does Mokona serve (annoying Kurogane doesn't count)? I think it has 3. Communicating with Yuuko, detecting Sakura's feathers, and Transporting everyone between worlds.
