Well, the mangas for those are already licensed. I don't see why the anime won't be, either. :)

Alright, I need help. Is there any chance that Crunchyroll will be running Bakuman? I'm dying to watch it but I don't have TV.

Ugh I got taken in by the stupid Bakuman troll-sub.

Was rather disappointed, looks interesting.

So, Bakuman.

I'll probably watch another episode or two before dropping it since I'm reading the manga already and the anime doesn't really offer anything new. The thing that stuck out most to me was the voices. I think Abe Atsushi's Mashiro is okay, but I think Satoshi Hino is off as Takagi. Hayami Saori is the only one who I'd say is perfect for her role (Azuki) so far and Kawasumi Ayako just doesn't work as Kaya for me. As for the plot itself, it's pretty much the same as the first chapter. The art was actually kind of bland, especially compared to the manga, but also in comparison to this particular team's other works (Nodame, H&C, Aoi Hana). The OP is the weirdest thing because I don't think it fits Bakuman at all unless they change the emphasis of the anime (which is conceivable, because it's only 26 episodes, which is definitely not enough time to adapt the entire thing).

Yeah, I'm not sure what happened with Bakuman's art & animation. J.C.Staff's other shows this season look to be better animated despite Bakuman being really high profile. Otherwise, the rest of the Episode 1's adaptation was solid to me. Animating the Super Hero Legend opening was a pretty fun touch.

Alright, I need help. Is there any chance that Crunchyroll will be running Bakuman? I'm dying to watch it but I don't have TV.

I could be wrong, but I'm partially inclined to think that if Crunchyroll could get it, they would have picked it up by now. Funimation or Viz could get it too though, so we'll see.

Super Robot Wars OG kinda bored me. I'm pretty sure it's because there's some prerequisite knowledge that I'm missing from the previous series or the games, but I can't be bothered to go watch/play those just so I can watch this. I will say that it looks very nice and if you are in the market for a pure mecha fightan show, then SRW is for you. Also, nice JAM PROJECT opening.

OreImo looks like it could be a funny, otaku in-joke-y show. It seems to be set up a bit like Nogizaka except there's no romance and the two main characters are snark machines.

I think I'll wait for you to tell whether the fact that she's into hentai brother-sister incest games goes anywhere bad before I watch it, myself.

Well, given how it's set up, that's pretty unlikely, as the brother is normal and weirded out by otaku and the sister is actually the closet lolicon and adheres to the 3d pig disgusting thing.

It looks like it's going to end up being a Lucky Star-esque or Genshiken-esque treatment of the material.

I don't know what to think of Otome Youkai Zakuro. Everything about it seems really shoujo-y, kinda like Natsume Yuujinchou. There's nothing terribly awful here, but then again, not much really happened. I wasn't originally planning on checking this show out, but decided to on a whim. We'll see where the future takes us.

Arakawa Under the Bridge x2 is the second season of Arakawa Under the Bridge. You probably don't care unless you watched the first season.

I'd fobbed it off as a fanservice fest, myself. But if the first little bit before the OP is the kind of action we can expect I will definitely enjoy this.

Oh Squid Girl... you certainly did not fail to deliver.

I will NEVER eat something with squid ink now.

That was hilarious.

Squid Girl definitely delivered でゲソ. I found the music to be a bit noticeably sparse though, which is a shame, because I was looking forward to Hidamari-like music. でゲソ.

The World God Only Knows looks really good in terms of production. It seems to be sticking to the manga pretty closely. I think I'll give it a few more episodes. For a comparison, I liked this manga to anime conversion a bit more than Bakuman.

The World God Only Knows... man I dunno, I've never wanted to watch/read it because every single summary makes it sound like, "The Pickup Artist: The Anime" which I find to be wholly distasteful, but people keep raving about it. What makes it good? Spoil it for me if you must.

He attempts to apply dating sim strategy to real girls and in doing so, hits all the tropes associated with them to comedic effect. The first episode is like a condensed version of a typical arc, I think.

Definitely going to be following Squid Girl. It's quite enjoyable and adorable.

Oh, and I just finished the first ep to The World God Only Knows. Definitely going to be following that too.

My usual tastes in anime seem to be taking a turn this season.

Watched the Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works movie:

Unless you've seen at least the first half of the series, you will be utterly lost as to what's going on. They really tell you basically nothing about the characters and only the absolute minimum about the plot.

Some characters literally just show up out of nowhere, while the main characters go "Oh it's you again," and then vanish again for nearly the entire movie.

Plus points: The fight scenes are so amazing they come VERY close to making up for the above short-comings. It is like liquid awesome directly injected into your eyeballs.

So basically, watch it, but lower your expectations concerning plot and gripping storytelling down to nothing and you'll enjoy it.

The UBW movie fills me with such sadness. I can't decide of they've gutted this or Umineko more. They've essentially cut it down to the bone and then started shaving off some of the bone.

The story that is left intact in UBW is little more than a bunch of fights strung together. I mean, they even cut out half of the famous chant. One of the reasons that Fs/n is considered such a great work is its depth, none of which is present in the movie. Shirou is just a dude who has a tragic past and Saber. None of the characters receive any sort of development. They just kind of float through this story. And without the ideas that the actual story is trying to present, Fs/n is just a sub-par fantasy story.

And don't even get me started about the meta-narrative that's lost in the anime adaptations.

I so predicted this would fail just because of DEEN being involved.

Looks like budget really isn't DEEN's problem. They just don't understand complex story telling and what makes it good.

If you want to read Fate/stay night, I'd suggest reading seorin's LP of it (google it), since it's work-safe, OR wait for the Realta Nua patch, which will make the game work-safe. The LP should do, since there you're not really missing much other than maybe the music. I personally don't find the music to be amazing other than a handful of tracks (definitely not as integral to the experience as it is for Umineko).

Are you sure it's entirely Deen's fault, or was it the fact that they had to cram an entire VN route into an hour and forty minutes? I wouldn't say I'm exceptionally familiar with F/SN, but if the plot's as complex as you say, I have difficulty believing it wouldn't have had a certain amount of adaptation decay regardless.

I'm assuming the format and length of the adaptation was a decision on their part, which would make it their fault. I mean, it wasn't a surprise to me that it was going to be awful; I've been expecting it since the length of the movie was revealed last year. My thoughts were as follows:

1. New Fate/stay night project being teased: Looks like UBW, maybe it'll be an OVA?
2. Announcement of movie: Huh, UBW as a movie, that's going to be hard to do
3. Reveal that Studio Deen is producing it: Maybe they'll have a decent budget...
4. Length announced: Welp, this is going to suck

No one should have thought it was a good idea to make a 100 minute UBW movie.

For comparison, I'd say that the entire game was at least 20 hours, with each route about even (including skipping read scenes), so each route is at least six hours, probably up to eight hours.

I don't know if DEEN was actually making the format/length decisions or not. There are also production companies and such involved in making major decisions above the actual animation studio.

It's DEEN, how can it not be?

I don't necessarily disagree with your sentiments. I just prefer to give a studio the benefit of the doubt until I've seen it myself (or read other people's impressions or whatever...). And DEEN has done good shows before.

It isn't impossible for them to make good shows, look at Giant Killing. And Higurashi was a massive fluke for them, however everyone I've met who played the game before they watched the show didn't like it because of all the depth that was lost.
