What?! :wow!: I thought they were. Even thought I read about Takeuchi admitting it. Hm... may have to go look that up again.

But yeah. Serena's voice was annoying, the name change was annoying, Rei's character change was annoying.... etc. Though I have to say, changing Zoicite's gender was just funny. I do see why they did it, however, and I thought they did a good job of killing "converting" Neptune's and Uranus's relationship to something more innocent. Eh.... kudos to the dub people for cleaning it up and making it most kid-friendly. But omigosh, there were annoying parts to it. Overall, I'm one of those people that was pulled into anime by SM, and finding out about the uncut version made me want to put out good stuff. And yes, Bob, I must agree. No self-respecting soldier would wear that get-up. The only thing I must say is that getting into it led me into the uncut stuff, and honestly, there are things in there that aren't worth seeing (like the other Sailor Soldiers in Stars *coughstripper-festcough*). 'Tis my two cents.

You know, the score for the show may be mostly uninspired, but there is one point in the show I REALLY love the score (in the original) In Ep 45, when Everyone knows Ami is
going to fight her last battle
and that sad music plays, but it turns into that determined music... True, the determined music was played A LOT in the show, but that tense music just before it...
It's like the stages of dealing with Death... That tense moment was the bargaining, and the determined one is the acceptance.
Gives me chills every time... Haha, sorta like the Myung strangling scene on the movie version of Macross Plus (the OVA doesn't have any music cues at that point, and it doesn't feel right when it's silent)

EDIT: About the haruka/michiru thing... 1. She was referring to the anime, and 2. She said "It's possible for girls in Japan to be very close" something like that... and "They do have a special sort of relationship" but the whole time she was referring to the anime, because the questions were only raised by the anime, not the manga... I mean, it did make sense for her to follow the anime carefully...

EDIT: Another line I found hillarious in Japanese: "Sayounara, Obakasan" The fact Ami calls Usagi an idiot, but uses an honorific to do it... Hahaha!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evcNPfZlrZs Watch this movie なう。 It's legal, free... And it's more than its premise. It's not saying Fast Food is good food. Just watch it.

Yeah, but in the manga, Haruka certainly seemed that way to me, especially when...
She and Usagi kissed.
So even while reading the manga, I got the feeling that Haruka and Michiru were gay. Of course, I read the Mixx version, but still... I need to go back and flip through those volumes.

And to me, I never really got the impression that the third season (S) confirmed their relationship; it only hinted at it (albeit strongly). I only felt that their relationship was confirmed in the last season (Stars), and possibly in their SuperS special. It's been a while since I've watched S unedited, though. I need to rewatch it.

There wasn't really any confirmation in the S season, Rogie...it was mostly in Stars, like you said. There was also a scene in the SuperS movie, when Neptune said something like, "There are so many more fun things to do as an adult," and Haruka kinda blushes.

And yeah, Haruka kissed Usagi in the S manga. I really can't see that happening unless she was homosexual. Also, Bob, the quote in its entirety is, "The relationship between Haruka and Michiru is quite special. I think the most important feeling in the world is friendship. The friendship between them is so strong that it becomes love. There's not only heterosexual love, but there also can be a homosexual love, in this case between two girls." No indication that this was referential only to the anime and not the manga. If this was the case, I think Naoko would've clarified "in the anime" or something along those lines.

Ah, anyway, you know who else got beaten up in the English dub? Motoki/Andrew's little sister, Unazuki. She was introduced in R as a girl who made Usagi worried that Mamoru had found someone else. Unazuki later showed up in S and SuperS, as one of the targets of the bad guys of those seasons.

However, in the dub, she was introduced in R, and then in the episodes in the S and SuperS dub, she's written to be an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT PERSON. Like they don't know her! In BOTH seasons! Did Geneon think that American vieweres were too stupid to remember Andrew's little sister? Ugh...

I don't think girls kissing each other will mean homosexuality unless it gets beyond a certain point. You might see kissing as a greeting, a goodby or admiration for something that was done.
Acourse there is kissing for love of a person.

So I take it we aren't supposed to kiss our relatives?

Welll... one of the first animes i ever saw was the DiC version of Sailor Moon on Cartoon Network, so I guess I was used to that version because at the time I didn't know about dubbing/subbing (oh, naive youths!). When I watched the original version subbed, I definately think it was better... as... it was the ORIGINAL. I really have only come across one Dub I thought was better than the Sub which was for Laputa, Castle in the Sky, only because the Dub made it so much more hilarious!

I am not a die-hard fan of Sailor Moon, but I am a relatively good fan. I think the die-hard fans are more sensitive to the changes between the original Japanese language version and the DiC version than I am, though I really do understand how they feel. As I said before... I almost always prefer the a Subbed verison to a Dubbed version... because the original actors bring more to the animation... because that is the way it was initially created.

DiC changed major things... some of which I can understand (for moralistic reasons entering a Judeo-christian culture) while others... leave me baffled.

So do i prefer DiC? Not necessarily... but It doesn't bother me ALL that much. I'll take it or leave it.

What I meant was that by your line of thinking, kissing your relatives must seem like incest.

Well... the way they were acting together was not the way that cousins would act around one another... DiC did make their relationship seem incentuous... They did a good job by dubbing the two of them talking about completely different things in situations where they originally were talking about their relationship... but some things (like one of them blushing) or other things couldn't be completely changed by a change in what they said. Therefore... in some ways... DiC made the situation worse...

How? I said Haruka wouldn't have kissed Usagi if she wasn't a homosexual. Because Usagi and Haruka are NOT RELATED. If Haruka kissed her mom or her sister, it would not be homosexual. But Haruka kissed Usagi who is not related to her at all.

I would say, if it was a kiss like a peck no problem if it lasted longer than a peck and involved more than lips you got a problem.

Didn't Seiya kiss Usagi, too? Meh.... I'd like to know what was on Naoko Takeuchi's mind when she drew Stars.
