yay! an Azumanga thread!

my friend who had Anime Network on demand before me, showed me ep. 1 when it was on there... and i loved it sooo much i promptly went out and bought the entire manga series and the first DVD. i'm saving up for the second DVD right now (current total: $5 ^^;;; hehe)

my friends all think i'm like Chiyo-chan (just cause i'm short! >< grr) but i'm not smart enough. i think i'm more like Osaka cause i always sleep in class or space out. and i think about the randomest things... like today, i was thinking that this senior in my guitar class should grow out his beard and braid it... cause that'd be cool. whoops, that's waaaay off topic, sorry. ^^;;;

but yeah, Azumanga rocks.

has anyone seen Robimanga Daioh? it's a parody of Witch Hunter Robin and Azumanga. HILARIOUS.

That was a web thing, right? I think I have, actually, and it *was* pretty funny.

Actually, very similar. The animators in preproduction wondered how they were going to translate a 4 panel strip into a cohesive storyline. They decided to take the girls from their first to last year of high school by seasons (or periods of the school year). But you will notice that when they did the anime they may have put certain happenings in a different place from when it happened in the manga.

I just finished up volume 5. As always it's a delight.

I'm reading the manga as I watch the series. I'm half way through the fourth and final manga volume now, but I'm waiting for the last anime volume to be released to finish it. Some of the things happen in a different order like Doc said, but also, the anime tends to embellish the action a bit more. That makes it a little easier for me to follow sometimes. It definitely enhances the series to both read and watch it!
