Anime North

Well, I just got back from Anime North. It was a real blast, although sadly I couldn't find a copy of the Ghost in the Shell 2 soundtrack anywhere. Despite this, it was definately a fun trip. A few highlights for the interested:

Full Metal Fantasy- If this shows up at your con, go and see it- it's really a hoot. Basically, the English voice talent for the show got together for a lark and made a live-action version of sorts. It's not done with any seriousness but is a lot of fun to watch.

Worst Toon Ever- This was a mystery showing, so how could I resist? The title turned out to be "Titantic: The Legend Continues", and it really was a god-awful trainwreck of a film. Blatant copyright infringements, hopelessy illogical plotlines, and a completely inappropriate, out-of-the-blue rap sequence all combine to make a really, really bad show. Very funny. Go see this and inflict it on your friends.

Xerxes Tireiron Dada- This was actually the name of a major anime villain in one of "the worst of" screenings. Best. Name. Ever.

AMV's A bit of a disappointment actually. There were a few good ones, and a lot of mediocre ones. PS. All Pandas Must Die.
The scientific method," Thomas Henry Huxley once wrote, "is nothing but the normal working of the human mind." That is to say, when the mind is working; that is to say further, when it is engaged in corrrecting its mistakes. Taking this point of view, we may conclude that science is not physics, biology, or chemistry—is not even a "subject"—but a moral imperative drawn from a larger narrative whose purpose is to give perspective, balance, and humility to learning.
