You and I seem to have similar tastes, in anime/manga, AzuFan. This is another one I concur with. I own all volumes of the Angelic Layer manga, and really liked it! When is the anime due out in the US? I will most definitely be checking it out! Have you heard if the anime compares favorably with the manga, and if it follows a similar plot?

I loved Angelic Layer. Absolutely loved it. I can't wait for the anime! I've heard it's supposed to be just like the manga with more fights.

Of course the anime has better animation. Manga is not animated, but I know what you meant (you meant "art style", not "animation"). I am very interested in this series too and I plan to pick up the volumes as they come out. I enjoyed the manga quite a bit and I heard that the anime is even better. "Icchan go boom!"

Well.. Yeah... That's what I mean... CLAMP didn't really seem to put alot of effort into drawing the mangas...

That is a harsh and unfair thing to say. I happen to like the art style of the Angelic Layer manga. It is SUPPOSED to be simple. While Mick Neoki's artwork is simpler and less detailed than Monoka Apapa's artwork, it still has a distinct style and IMO the artwork still looks great (I do like Monoka Apapa's artwork (Cardcaptor Sakura, Magic Knight Rayearth, X) better than Mick Neoki's art (Angelic Layer, Chobits), though). Just because the artwork is more simplistic and with more exggerated motions doesn't mean that they didn't put alot of effort into the art.

I heard that the Angelic Layer anime has different character relationships, more background info on the characters and is better than the manga, though. I definatly can't wait till next month when the first DVD comes out.

How is the music for the series? Is the theme song as good as the theme for the unedited subtitled Cardcaptor Sakura?

Well, yes and no. The anime is completely awesome and has become one of my favorite titles. I also own the manga series. The anime is like an exploded version of the manga. Key plot points, major fights, and all the characters from the manga are present and accounted for. The anime explains characters and Angelic Layer itself in so much more depth. There's new characters, new angels, and fights that weren't in the manga. And the ending ... well ... you'll see. If you liked the manga, you'll really, really like the anime. I'm looking forward to the dubbed version myself!

I have all of the manga series too and it's one of my favorites. I got the Sep. vol. of Newtype yesterday and watched the first anime ep. of it that was on the sample dvd. It made me want it even more. I can't wait for the dvd to come out in Oct.! And BrianC, the op. theme is ok, but I really liked the end. theme. Not sure how they compare to the CCS ones, but I liked them anyway. ^^;

*bump*
Ahem, I was wondering if anyone's got the first DVD of this yet. I bought it yesterday. I've enjoyed it.

I got the first volume a couple days ago. I loved it. I was pleased with how different it was from the manga. Events happen a bit differently (sometimes in different order), many characters are introduced sooner, and there are many other little differences that make it worth seeing even if you have read the manga (so far). The dub is very nice with an excellent voice cast, but the cast in the subtitles is so good, it's hard for any dub to compete, no matter how good.

Yes, I loved the manga, but I thought the anime series was much better. It also put other characters in a different light for me, Hatako in particular. I didn't care for her very much in the manga, but she was so awesome (not to mention cute as a button!) in the anime.

I picked it up the day it was released (Oct 14th I believe). I think it's great (I had seen the promo disk with NewType few months back and knew I had to get it)....

The 2nd volume is scheduled for release sometime in November if my information is correct.

Can't wait to see the whole thing! :thumb:
