I would recommend not showing him the Ghost in the Shell movie. (haven't seen the series, so I can't comment on it.)

When Samurai 7 comes out in the US, I think it'll be pretty good. It's an anime remake of the famous Seven Samurai. This version, though, is a bit slower-paced, a lot more steampunk, and, alas, lacks the inestimable Toshiro Mifune. The fight choreography seems like it's pretty good, too. I've seen four episodes of it (out of 26), and I'm pretty sure I'll pick up the set when it comes out. (It's by Gonzo, so it looks quite impressive.)
The cake used to be a lie like you, but then it took a portal to the deception core.

Cowboy Bebop and Ghost in the Shell: SAC would be good choices in my book. Bebop is the most obvious choice. My dad loves Cowboy Bebop because I had him listen to my CD's first and he's a big jazz fan so he loved it. On top of that it has awesome action, episodic so it's easy to get into, good dubbing, No cutesy wutesy stuff, and has it has it's funny moments.

Ghost in the Shell: SAC is also something my dad enjoys because of many of the above reasons as well. Also it forgoes the full frontal nudity in the movie. The only thing that makes him and me cringe is when the Tachikomas speak.

My goodness! I see this thread and the first last and only thought that goes through my mind is: "This guy needs to see Last Exile" And lo and behold, every other person has already suggested it. Well you get the idea. I am glad you have discovered the joys of last exile, may your dreams be filled with vanships rather than sugarplums this year! Merry Christmas!

Cool, thanks everyone! We actually watched like 5 hours of Last Exile today... @_@ It was a marathon on g4 tech tv. Anyways, I rather liked it, although I've only seen like the second half of the series, so I missed a lot. Some of it was pretty confusing, and I was also fighting off sleep for some of the time.

I think my dad liked it for the most part. (He wanted to watch it for 5 hours anyway... lol) Like I said earlier, it's not possible to watch anything with him without it being criticized in some way. Ah well. Thanks again, everyone! :thumb:
