Possibly the most confusing show in existence, though I still haven't seen Elf Princess Rane.

If you wait around for the clouds to part and a bolt of lightning to strike you in the brain, you are not going to make an awful lot of work. All the best ideas come out of the process; they come out of the work itself. Things occur to you. If you’re sitting around trying to dream up a great art idea, you can sit there a long time before anything happens. But if you just get to work, something will occur to you and something else will occur to you and something else that you reject will push you in another direction. Inspiration is absolutely unnecessary and somehow deceptive. You feel like you need this great idea before you can get down to work, and I find that’s almost never the case." - Chuck Close[/color]

Man, I wanted to do that review! *pouts*
And could I add something? I know we're not supposed to question reviews, but this is a rather serious mistake. I have the soundtrack to FLCL, and I know for a fact that almost all of the music is done by a J-Rock group called the pillows. The "groups" listed (Runners High, Fool on the planet, Happy Bivouac, Carnival) are all either songs by the pillows or names of their albums.
EDIT: Mamimi's video game is called "Fire Starter" not "Endsville" which is the name of the city you burn down in the game.
Think happy thoughts.

I was wondering about that...the Pillows doing the music. Also I'm guessing "Endsville" might be the orginal version and they renaimed it to "Firestarter" for the dubbed. Im just guessing. I havnt seen it in Japanese.

Excelleent review though!!

*checks for CD listings* Looks like ClosetOtaku inadvertently called them the artists when in fact they're the song titles. I've tweaked the review slightly.

No, you're correct, I goofed. :( And it is a rather serious mistake. I need to go back to the DVD booklets, though, and see how I misread the tracks (I think they are listed as song titles only, and I interpreted them as song title - artist).

As to Endsville vs. Fire Starter: I will re-listen to both tracks, but if I titled it wrong, I'll put in a correction.

Sigh. Sorry about that. :stressed:

And -- very honestly -- I don't know what CAA policy is, but if AngelSakura (or anyone else) wants to put up their own review version as a comment, is that permissible (not taking to task the original review, but stating their comments in the same format on their own)? If that isn't supposed to happen, I'd still like to see what your take on the series was.

EDIT: Indeed, always read the small print. "*Song Title / Album (or MaxiSingle (M)) Title" -- I read it incorrectly.

And, yes, the game's name is Firestarter. Request for corrections submitted.

Mamimi calls the cat "Takkun" (one of several characters who inherit that pet name throughout the series).

Some images I found: http://www.synch-point.com/production/flcl/charac-takkun.jpg, and http://anre.org/oaf/ep-2.php.

Oh no, there are tons. Just call me the FLCL Freak, because I can get you any pic you want!

...probably.
I'm too lazy to dig though and crop the original, so just take this button for now. I'll get a better version later.
